As someone who read these books as they were being released, the wait between Mark of Athena and House of Hades was conceivably the most brutal year of my life. The way I survived that wait is: no I didn't.

For real! The Percy Jackson series hit me perfectly because I was the same age as Percy when they came out. The characters were my friends. Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo just didn't quite hit the same. Still love the characters, but more as my children rather than friends. I'm not sure where I would rank them individually among characters in this universe, but Percy and Annabeth's relationship is legitimately maybe my favorite out of any piece of media I've ever consumed. First you have their growth throughout the original PJO series, but then to have them go through what they did in Mark of Athena and House of Hades (and to this day, I still do not understand how I survived the yearlong wait in between the release of MoA and HoH). I just adore them together in a way that is perhaps irrational considering they're fictional characters, but I don't care. Also, I know they have that iconic gazebo scene at the end of The Last Olympian, but my favorite moment between the two is honestly probably that scene in Athens during the Blood of Olympus. The whole "let's put an end to this Athena/Poseidon rivalry in the very place where it began" thing? Melts my heart every single time

I really recommend reading Percy Jackson's Greek Gods and Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes too! Hearing the myths from Percy's perspective is the PERFECT way to read them!

To be fair, there are dozens of versions of each myth so your interpretation could be different from mine :)
The Trials of Apollo really ties up Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus beautifully and the whole story really does come full circle! Also Magnus Chase is an awesomely series!

I remember the day HoH released and I was waiting outside the bookstore, waiting for the doors to be opened, only to get the HEARTBREAK that was House of Hades.

as a fellow nico stan, i genuinely cannot thank him enough. reading house of hades in 5th grade was the first gay representation id ever seen in media and i relate to nico so much on that level. he literally helped me come to terms so much with my sexuality and i related to his struggles and i will forever be grateful to rick for that.
Sometimes i feel sorry for the people who couldnt grow up w the characters but its great that they can read them now because they rlly r good for all ages. I remember how pjo helped my personally when i was first diagnosed w adhd when i was around 7. I picked up this book and i remember what the class helper said to me as clear as day. She said, ‘People need a lot of patience when they read a chapter book, so i suggest you try something a bit…easier’ then handed me a Mr Men’s book. I was so broken over that little comment but the second someone says something like that i just need to prove them wrong so i said, ‘Nah its ok I’m up for the challenge.’ I read the book, i loved the book, i still do. And because i can be *ehem* slightly petty, i went back to her with my own copy of the lightning thief we have our entire school from K-12 on a single campus so i went to her classroom and i was like ‘Hi, remember me?’ She was all like yeah i remember you. So i told her ‘What you really said to me back then rlly changed me, so i just wanted to say thanks, for teaching me patience, and that proving someone wrong is the best feeling there is.’ Then i told her what she said to me then i told her i was he top of my class for English and it was my best subject, i had received an award for English and that i was already working on a book. I have never seen a teacher look so ashamed because she knows that’s wasn’t the worst thing she had ever said to me.

These books got me thru middle school. And at the risk of sounding like an old person, there was no established and extensive fandom outside my immediate friend group at the time. So glad it’s a whole community now.

I really want to know your thoughts on the Percy/Annabeth reunion scene, and the scene with Leo, Hazel and Echo. Those are some of my favorite moments in the series, they are just so funny and beautiful.
Both the lost hero and blood of Olympus was such a pivotal moment in my life for me. The lost hero was the first new book I experienced having been caught up with everything else at the time. Reading through these new POVs but at our camp we know and love was an amazing treat to experience. And waiting a whole extra year to see Percy again was agrivating. Blood of Olympus in the other hand just instantly wasn’t my cup of tea. I already wasn’t a fan of the typical mark of Athena type quest but for the third time AND I started to fall out of love with reading. Now that I’m 24 I decided to reread all the books again and I finally was able to get through blood of Olympus for the first time. Not my favorite book but still glad I got to experience the end to the series. Working my way through Kane chronicles now and I’m just reflecting that I haven’t been this excited to read something in a long time and that’s all because I experienced these books again. Despite some of HOO’s glaring flaws they’re still amazing and a great read for anyone
The Lost Hero was the first book I've ever read and I finished the series without reading Percy Jackson. Uncle Rick definitely ignited my love for reading with this series just cuz of how amazing he writes his characters. I haven't read any of the Percy Jackson books, but people who have read this series before have told me it was a good series and even have recommend it to me multiple times. And I think that's a sign that I should read it. So I will probably will get around to hopefully reading this series sooner or later. I think I'm really am going to enjoy it just because I ain't a picky reader and just because I have heard nothing but good reviews on it. So I'm so excited to finally read it. Is currently on my long tbr list at the moment. Also I have ADHD too. Sorry if I spelled it wrong. But I have to be in a comfortable position to read or I won't read at all. And what helps me with that is getting into my soft and warm PJs, having a soft, warm, and comfy blanket over me, and some music on. More especially I listen to random soundtracks from movies or tv shows or regular old music, but that's depends on my mood that day tho.
I like the Lost Hero very much! Set-up the new series, had high stakes with Percy missing, Hera imprisoned, silent gods and the unnamed foe. Very interesting with a new child of the Big Three being related to the one we already know and love. Piper with Charmspeak and Leo with the fire abilities added to depth to children of gods we hadn't been exposed to yet. The whole idea of the Roman gods was super intriguing to me and that last line? Classic Uncle Rick. Missed Persassy, sure, but the he's literally the title of this book!
The Magnus Chase series is amazing!! so much diversity, highly recommend it. And yes some serious stuff happens in The trials of Apollo. Loved this vid!

Gods this was too true; I remember crying when I first read it. Also, Stan Percabeth, they will be the best couple in the whole universe, no mater what!
here's the thing. I love HoO, a lot, and all the characters and everything, but, it's just not the same as PJO. Like it started as made up bedtime stories, which is what makes PJO so iconic, and with Percy's narrations and everything. HoO, I think Rick pushed himself too hard with all the different POVs and all. It's a great series, and I adore Jason and Leo, very very much, and Nico going over to the Roman camo, Percabeth in Tartarus (which really wasn't okay AT ALL) and everything else, (especially the ending to the blood of olympus) it was great, stan Reyna, amazing characters, I just wish we got to delve more into them like in PJO. I would also like to add that Nico di Angelo is everything and I will stand by that and attack anyone who says he's anything less than a GOD. Also stan Nico and Reyna's friendship
I just reread everything from the PJO series to the HOO series after finishing the entire TOA series last month. Can't wait for your reaction on TOA..pretty sure you'll love it as much as I did, especially Apollo..He's such a lovable character and Rick Riordan wrote him with such great character development.

Yeah! I learned so much from those and they were really funny and enjoyable, despite being nonfiction

i have never heard someone describe this series like i have & hearing you voicing everything i’ve been thinking since i read this series years ago is so refreshing
as a fellow nico stan, i genuinely cannot thank him enough. reading house of hades in 5th grade was the first gay representation id ever seen in media and i relate to nico so much on that level. he literally helped me come to terms so much with my sexuality and i related to his struggles and i will forever be grateful to rick for that.
Sometimes i feel sorry for the people who couldnt grow up w the characters but its great that they can read them now because they rlly r good for all ages. I remember how pjo helped my personally when i was first diagnosed w adhd when i was around 7. I picked up this book and i remember what the class helper said to me as clear as day. She said,
‘People need a lot of patience when they read a chapter book, so i suggest you try something a bit…easier’ then handed me a Mr Men’s book. I was so broken over that little comment but the second someone says something like that i just need to prove them wrong so i said,
‘Nah its ok I’m up for the challenge.’ I read the book, i loved the book, i still do. And because i can be *ehem* slightly petty, i went back to her with my own copy of the lightning thief we have our entire school from K-12 on a single campus so i went to her classroom and i was like
‘Hi, remember me?’
She was all like yeah i remember you. So i told her
‘What you really said to me back then rlly changed me, so i just wanted to say thanks, for teaching me patience, and that proving someone wrong is the best feeling there is.’ Then i told her what she said to me then i told her i was he top of my class for English and it was my best subject, i had received an award for English and that i was already working on a book. I have never seen a teacher look so ashamed because she knows that’s wasn’t the worst thing she had ever said to me.

i really feel like rereading this now...also i really recommend the percy jackson and the greek gods + percy jackson and the greek heroes duology book, it's like a comedic, percy-nalized take on some famous greek myths!
I really want to know your thoughts on the Percy/Annabeth reunion scene, and the scene with Leo, Hazel and Echo. Those are some of my favorite moments in the series, they are just so funny and beautiful.
Both the lost hero and blood of Olympus was such a pivotal moment in my life for me. The lost hero was the first new book I experienced having been caught up with everything else at the time. Reading through these new POVs but at our camp we know and love was an amazing treat to experience. And waiting a whole extra year to see Percy again was agrivating.
Blood of Olympus in the other hand just instantly wasn’t my cup of tea. I already wasn’t a fan of the typical mark of Athena type quest but for the third time AND I started to fall out of love with reading. Now that I’m 24 I decided to reread all the books again and I finally was able to get through blood of Olympus for the first time. Not my favorite book but still glad I got to experience the end to the series. Working my way through Kane chronicles now and I’m just reflecting that I haven’t been this excited to read something in a long time and that’s all because I experienced these books again. Despite some of HOO’s glaring flaws they’re still amazing and a great read for anyone

The Lost Hero was the first book I've ever read and I finished the series without reading Percy Jackson. Uncle Rick definitely ignited my love for reading with this series just cuz of how amazing he writes his characters. Though I have found new fave books, HOO will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for the video and Leo is best boi :)
I haven't read any of the Percy Jackson books, but people who have read this series before have told me it was a good series and even have recommend it to me multiple times. And I think that's a sign that I should read it. So I will probably will get around to hopefully reading this series sooner or later. I think I'm really am going to enjoy it just because I ain't a picky reader and just because I have heard nothing but good reviews on it. So I'm so excited to finally read it. Is currently on my long tbr list at the moment.
Also I have ADHD too. Sorry if I spelled it wrong. But I have to be in a comfortable position to read or I won't read at all. And what helps me with that is getting into my soft and warm PJs, having a soft, warm, and comfy blanket over me, and some music on. More especially I listen to random soundtracks from movies or tv shows or regular old music, but that's depends on my mood that day tho.

I like the Lost Hero very much! Set-up the new series, had high stakes with Percy missing, Hera imprisoned, silent gods and the unnamed foe. Very interesting with a new child of the Big Three being related to the one we already know and love. Piper with Charmspeak and Leo with the fire abilities added to depth to children of gods we hadn't been exposed to yet. The whole idea of the Roman gods was super intriguing to me and that last line? Classic Uncle Rick. Missed Persassy, sure, but the he's literally the title of this book!

This is the most positive reaction to the last book I've seen on booktube, most people were disappointed but im glad you weren't
here's the thing. I love HoO, a lot, and all the characters and everything, but, it's just not the same as PJO. Like it started as made up bedtime stories, which is what makes PJO so iconic, and with Percy's narrations and everything. HoO, I think Rick pushed himself too hard with all the different POVs and all. It's a great series, and I adore Jason and Leo, very very much, and Nico going over to the Roman camo, Percabeth in Tartarus (which really wasn't okay AT ALL) and everything else, (especially the ending to the blood of olympus) it was great, stan Reyna, amazing characters, I just wish we got to delve more into them like in PJO. I would also like to add that Nico di Angelo is everything and I will stand by that and attack anyone who says he's anything less than a GOD. Also stan Nico and Reyna's friendship

I just reread everything from the PJO series to the HOO series after finishing the entire TOA series last month. Can't wait for your reaction on TOA..pretty sure you'll love it as much as I did, especially Apollo..He's such a lovable character and Rick Riordan wrote him with such great character development.
You should read all the short stories, they do have Leo, Nico, Luke adventures, and they do bridge some gaps.
