It's such a shame that so many modern day games, especially FPS games, are just so... predatory when it comes to microtransactions and all of this battle pass bs- but if anyone is looking for a game that is made to be extremely against this style of release, I cannot recommend Deep Rock Galactic more- basically no microtransactions at all, and a surprisingly fun grind for upgrades and cosmetics- given that you have the time, of course.
here from the future. payday 3 is the last game that i preorder. a lot of us had faith in overkill/starbreeze and they literally took that and put it behind numerous garbage systems. i’m convinced that the last good company is fromsoftware cause they NEVER let consumers down
Remember the Korean game companies went crazy with the monetization before the 2010s with their f2p games. Now it's the western companies' turn to make money, a lot.
Started from scratch after i entered the chapter a wee bit underleveled. Now i won t rush and take my time. Still. G1 my favourite. And i will give 3 a try, heard the world design is amazing.
Keep up the good fight against these greedy corporate hacks man. As a struggling indie gamedev myself, I pledge to never stoop to any of that. If you want to unlock something in my games, the only way to do that will be to play the game, and there will never be time constraints on any of those unlockables. There will never be any way to purchase anything in the game with real money, other than the game itself and perhaps future DLC packs that add additional levels / gameplay. If those DLCs add more unlockables, everyone with a updated, patched version of the base game will have access to those unlockables. The games will be done when I release them, and supported for years after to correct any issues that come up. Will any other developers publicly make this pledge?
I reckon they're executed well enough and the rewards are okay. You don't have to spend money on them which is great since you would have already spent money on buying S3, and all of the unlocks are pretty minor and fun. There's no tedious challenges to work towards either, you just have to play the game to level it up which I really like. I was considering talking about them in the video but I didn't really find the time to. Credit where credit is due, it's pretty good for a battle pass. But then again, the bar for those are set pretty low. What do you think of the catalogues?
@@Sunflower41XD i wish there was an item/ticket to boost progression on it, but other than that i agree it’s basically perfect. Enough time to complete it, good rewards, not something you need to buy
Im very thankful that despite the many faults of modern gaming, Splatoon 3 uses many of these systems to the game's advantage and makes the experience better for it
I would consider a game titled Mindustry one of those underrated nice games because there are no transactions, the game is worked on and updated, nearly 0 glitches. One problem. The community is dying and some people aren't nice.
I think Fortnite does it the best. Free to play and everything in the store and battle pass is purely cosmetics. Plus some of the free challenges you get great cosmetics without having to spend too much time doing them.
Ya hit some easy points. Was hoping you'd recognize what HD did to the industry and how it killed so many mid studios who weren't super indie but weren't big developers. Once 360 and ps3 hit games became less innovative (graphics and load times, file size obviously got better) but it was the beginning of the same few games made over and over again. Half Life, Deus Ex, that era ps1-ps2 and Xbox - games could afford to experiment but as soon as HD graphics hit game developers could not afford to try new things. Mechanics have been the same for 2 decades (there are exceptions but on the whole)- they're all somewhat the same- they just look prettier and have lighting effects and shit.
Halo Infinite’s battle pass got tolerable with The Winter Update. EXP is gained from playing normally, and challenges gives bonus EXP, so it is now like a lot of other games. I really dislike the trend where every big game becomes sunk cost analysis of my time though…
Wondered what that medieval fortnite game was you showed at 14:36 . A game called Warlander that I have never heard of, that's a sequal to Happy Wars, a game I loved and was super popular on Xbox 360. Yet now infested with battlepass and Fortnite graphics. By the looks at the trailer viewers nobody cares about Warlander either. The absolute state of modern gaming.
Cyberpunk I feel is the only game that deserved that second chance because there’s no micro transactions there’s nothing like that, it was a game made by a dev team who wanted to make a cool game and sadly it released broken and at the wrong period of time. People will keep hating on it, but in a month from now it’s going to become everything they ever promised and the game modern gamers want
The problem with it is that they did not deliver on what they promised. Unparallelled levels of choices and consequences, when in reality there is almost none. It s like peter molyneux and fable .....
didn't tomonobu itagaki fall into a depressive state because of how dead or alive 2 *on the PS2* was released unfinished due to a salesman betraying him
What I don't get: is that HOW are these giant companies putting so much $$$ into "Buying dev companies" YET compared to the 360 era. We are basically getting NO GAME'S. So where is the investment $ going to? Take 343 for example: they put so much $ Into them and they have not produced any quality game's.. yet they've invested so much $$$ and for what? I just don't get how it's "confusing or hard to understand that just making games is the most important thing. They can be arcade style games, 2D, 2.5D, etc., you name it. Not every game needs to be like "Skyrim" or "Farcry". People just want things to play. Focus on that!" The Dreamcast, the Sega Genesis, the Nintendo GameCube, All have passionate dedicated fanbases BECAUSE they created unique creative game's. They didn't let the fact that other things out sold them defeat them and stop their creativity and game development. That's why they are still so loved to this day. How does: "The Original Halo Combat Evolved, on OG Xbox" has some of the best A.i. -As well as Left 4 Dead 2. I love the way they balanced the weapons/gameplay/maps. It's so well thought out & fun. You can couch co-op, party play. Co-op the campaign. It leaves room for goofing around, while equally allowing for a test of skills. The maps are unique compared to other games. The campaign is great, in Halo CE there's the flood, gathering of ammo, health packs, shields, cloak. The way they built it so you start out with base weapons and you each have to go around the map to aquire weapons during gameplay, really creates a awesome structure to how the game is played. +The A.I. is by far the BEST A.I. It's so interesting to go up against the enemies in this game. The enemies have such diverse dynamic behavior and reaction responsiveness. Not just enemies, but your own soldier's that team up with you to drive vehicle's in the story mode, really adds depth to the campaign mode. The level of customization of game modes is like nothing we have today. You could Customize your own personal character in Halo (for free). You could make your own game modes. You could make Serious game modes or dork around game modes or just all out crazy Overpowered madness game modes. I absolutely LOVE when a game can do this and I still own and play the OG version on a old school original Xbox as well as a Xbox 360. (I haven't gotten a Xbox system after the 360. That era was the peak in my opinion)
