This is a great cheap way. Another easy way with those kits, Husky and Craftsman where you can pull the drawer trays all the way out of the box kit is to just pull the tray all the way out and sit in the cabinet, then you could use the foam around the tray for other tools that did not come in the kit. Then if you needed to take tools and be mobile for something, the friend on side of road, you grab the tray out of the cabinet slide back in kit and go in matter of minutes.
You can also add another foam layer on top of that using a hard cardboard as base. Invent a hook or something to grab and lift the top layer off. Nice job.
Dude, sweet job!! I thought when you left the zig-zag cut out lines on the edges of the foam that it was gonna look corny in the drawer. It did. But when you showed the finished product, "wow", those zig-zag lines didn't even show up because of how awesome the tools looked in their perfectly cut areas! Thanks for the affordable cool tip, much appreciated as that dang kaizen foam is ridiculously priced! A++ 👍😎

Just got a US general 44inch with a 14 in side cabinet on market place for $300. Ima def gonna do these floormats instead of spending a fortune on shadow foam.
I spent a bit more cash, but Kaizen foam isn't ridiculously expensive. About $200 will do my 44" US General top and bottom box. Yes, definitely more than this method, but not as bad as I was expecting it to be.
I have been using this technique for a long time. I usually use 2 colors and contact cement. It’s also much better quality, Kaizen is sort of crap packing foam and this stuff is designed to actually be stood on. It’s nuts that people pay so much on Kaizen
