Just the thought and responsibility of raising a child and being a father could have led to his demise. Although, I agree, he was already well on his way before his daughter was born. And 2: were drugs around the band at the time or was Shannon actively seeking drugs himself? Because I've read numerous times that apparently Shannon wanted to get clean,but it's like anything even Quiting smoking,it's a good idea to get away from whatever your trying to quit while your doing so so theres no temptation. And if there was drugs around the band and if the band contractually couldnt take a break,then getting clean wouldve been a lot lot easier said then done

I remember it saying that drugs were everywhere and people sought him out to give them to him , kinda like “hey man, I’m your buddy, look what I have for you. He relapsed at Woodstock with acid just after getting clean. They even hired someone to stay with him and watch him but he liked to party and had demons to run from. I’m a recovering addict, so I know, if you relapse once then there is always a reason to relapse again. I never relapsed. 28 yrs clean. You gotta want it. The band said they were young and way in over their head

no offense but at 16 i was already shooting heroin. Im now 30 with two beautiful girls, a husband,my own home, and a lucrativr career. One thing i can tell u about addiction id that IT IS a disease. And without proper treatment, yes, it WILL kill u. U have to change people, places, n things n when in the music biz, its near impossible to avoid drugs n/or that lifestyle. But, dont be fooled...it CAN b done.

Michael Pal it does suck. I cry every time I see this. He really was dying then. The problem was, he was so strong willed no one could stop him. The band hired someone to watch over him and Shannon sent him home, right before he od’ed. It’s all in his book
Sheri Peters This video is heartbreaking to watch. Shannon really did look bad & deep into his addiction. It proved to be too strong for Shannon to overcome. He loved to be high & have fun. Shannon was Shannon's worst enemy I think. His demons got the best of him... Shannon was special & got into our hearts & souls!!!
