I got to see Shannon four times but the first was most memorable…January 93 at a small bar, Tewligands, in Louisville, KY. The stage was 12 inches high and Shannon was in his beard phase. That show and their music was everything I didn’t know I needed. In all the years since then I’ve loved a lot of great music but nothing has come close to Blind Melon. A bit of trivia…I went to LA in late 92 and needed music to listen to while driving my shitty rental car (acquired from the infamous Rent-A-Wreck rental company). Talking to a record store employee I bought their self-titled album on cassette and listened to it nonstop until their show mentioned above. I knew every note by heart. My best memory at that show was when I couldn’t contain myself and between songs yelled “BLIND MELON RULES!” (Nothing better than being 22 and buzzed 😂) Shannon started laughing and high fived me. All that to say, I miss him. We all do.
This band touched my soul. I lived and died and came back to life from listening/hearing their music. I too suffered from the disease of addiction but by the grace of God there go I. These band members are Angels. RIP Shannon😇 Dear God, “Have a relief file for you!”
they were so good cant believe this has so few views. shannon was really finding his song writing abilities and the rest of the band was incredibly tight, but that voice on shannon breath taking! saw them open for soundgarden such a good show blind melon got me that night and i have been rockin back and forth with them since.
God, what a performance! This is as close as we got to an MTV Unplugged, and this is probably better than it would’ve been, since they were loose and telepathic from touring and they tried out some new stuff. Just a delight start-to-finish.
The last song is now called St.Andrews Fall....they were at a show in Detroit and went to their hotel and were looking out the window and a person jumped out of a window across from them (suicide) so this last song is about that incident....DAMN YOU SHANNON .... can you imagine where they would be if he still were here .... in our hearts and ears forever.
I love this video. I have seen Blind Melon live 3 times. I am from Vancouver. I was at the show when they were the back up band for Lenny Kravitz and Shannon took his clothes off and went to the (his) left side of the stage and peed. I also went to both of the concerts at the Commodore that they had to do as part of the court ordered restitution to benefit the empty stocking fund for the food bank in Vancouver. Both shows were nothing short of spectacular. It is sad that he was unable to stay on the path of sobriety. Down is a hard drug to kick. That is why we lose so many people to that life and so many overdose. I pray his daughter does not fall pray to addiction. Gone definitely not forgotten. Shannon Hoon a beautiful, genuine, soul. 🥀🌿 ❤
These guys are awesome dudes, I feel like all of them were transparent people and never gave in to fame. And Rogers at the end with Shannon cracks me up, "What you gonna do give up that fast?" Shannon just smiles back like damn it I know you're right haha
This video is such a gem! Thank you so much for uploading it. I can't stop watching it! (everyday) Shannon Hoon's voice will go down in history as one of the best rock voices of all-time. R.I.P Shannon Hoon 😢
Good lord this is amazing. Gives me chills the whole time. Thanks for being with us for a minute Shannon. We are all better for having heard this too-night. (Bonus points if you get the reference. Rip gord & shannon)
Saw these guys at The Boathouse in Norfolk, VA in 94 or 95... was in the pit and had black bruised feet for a week but it was a hell of a show! Glad I got to see them.
I have always felt extremely emotionally connected with Shannon and that emotional dichotomy that was always present in his songs. Tones of Home is one that I never really felt this deeply personal about until seeing this version of Shannon singing it. It was like watching the first crack form in his joyful façade, and it's crushing.
I watched this homie die before my very eye's..Fighting the same fight..I lived. He died..What a soul Shannon had..51 i am. Still fighting..Lesson be told..Never Fuck with something your spirit cannot kill..And i watched his demise like many..On T.V..The music bizz is poison..Troubled dudes just trying to make music
Man… it makes me sad every time I see something new from these guys that I haven’t seen before.. thinking about all that potential that was wasted because of drugs.. sucks. Unfortunately, it inspires too.. if you can call it that.. Either way, drugs has brought us a Lotta good music, and unfortunate times..
Why tf is the dude talking over the video constantly talking about how Shannon was a drug addict? Big fucking deal...it's sad but it happens to the best of us...let's focus on the good things Shannon brought to us
Shannon’s singing looks effortless. The world really lost a talent.
For him it really was.

Just For Today Dude!

I wish I was there .
The version he does of Everyday (The Way You Looked Before), on his To You and You and You ablum is one my very favorite songs.
Where did you see them? I was at the Offenbach, Germany show in 95.
Very underrated brilliance from the 90s
Prob has something to do with the German language in the vid
His voice was incredible. Such a sad loss for what their future could have been.
Wow, the whole thing. If I had access to this when I was 15 I would have shit my pants.
Saw them in Dallas 1.5 days before he died. He was great that night. October 19th 1995. What a guy. 🙏🏼
SO. FUCKING. LUCKY!
So sad too.
St andrews fall is such a 💎..
Its fn incredible
23 minute mark.....what a voice. No voice like it these days.
Yep he was awesome still nobody compares..
God, what a performance! This is as close as we got to an MTV Unplugged, and this is probably better than it would’ve been, since they were loose and telepathic from touring and they tried out some new stuff. Just a delight start-to-finish.
so true
I wish it was five hours long.
This is our Unplugged. As little recognition as they get, this is what we have
@@wellfuckk9805 They're so unvelievably underrated, not even funny anymore
Blind Melon did Canada's version of Unplugged, called Intimate and Interactive: th-cam.com/video/z_r3jMBJ7CI/w-d-xo.html
Takes the headphones off starts blasting it
Why can’t we have things like this anymore ? Why…
Agree!

uhhghh
The show was probably at St. Andrews Hall, a smaller venue in Detroit
Robert Fowler pretty sure it was indeed
i was at this show. she jumped shortly after the show. it's one of the best and saddest shows ive ever seen. rip shannon thanks for all the love......

🥀🌿 ❤
Shannon was a cocainr addict, not dope
Wow, what a show to be at haha. He took the swerve a little too far at times. Excess I can relate too. Thx for sharing. RIP SH
Dude could you give stories or any remembering of the Vancouver show?
When I found Blind Melon I was so thrilled, then I got the Nico album and read the notes and was very 😢
Such a tragedy and loss of an amazing talent. Blind Melon gelled so well with Shannon at the helm. Gut punch every time I listen to their music.
Best Christmas right now... Because of my family, my cat Boris and this video. RIP Shannon.
Spending today (Christmas day) watching this video with a cup of coffee :) .
I miss my friend Boris... 🍻
These guys are awesome dudes, I feel like all of them were transparent people and never gave in to fame. And Rogers at the end with Shannon cracks me up, "What you gonna do give up that fast?" Shannon just smiles back like damn it I know you're right haha
shannon singing bobby mcgee is perfect
Incredible. Thanks for this. I was lucky enough to see them in a bar in Atlanta, GA back in 1993. One of the most memorable times of my life.
Any video footage if that show? Good times!
@@ryuhayabusa807 Sadly, no. :(

Rest easy Shannon, your music is still very much alive

Legendary.
They had a sound all their own! Robert Hunter wrote Shannon a letter of praise for his lyrics! What a waste of great talent.
How could his contribution to music at that scale be a waste?
thanks adam shaw loved it!

AMEN and it's the most troubled souls who write the best songs.
Love this, thank you for posting!!

LAST generation of RAW talent: Baby Boomers
gone too soon
Brad looks hungover af haha
Sounds gootous
He peed on fans up in Vancouver, Canada for the record 🚿
He should've born in the Deepv South. Ok, he has a Southern Soul.

drugs are fun they said.
😎

Effortless for Shannon
I love Shannon, but he seems difficult to work with. He didn't mind holding up the band and seems to have no interest that they were becoming annoyed.
*sigh* con-tent l” .. amazing kid and product but fuck this “provider “
Focusing on his record, even if in Dutch, laaaaaaaame af
LAST generation of RAW talent: Baby Boomers
