    🥢PRINTABLE RECIPE - soupeduprecipes.com/easy-chop...
Today, we are making Chop Suey. A lot of people believe that it was a dish invented in the US by Chinese Americans. I’ve got so many people requesting it so I did a lot of research to find out the Chinese root of this dish; turns out it does exist in China. Chop Suey is actually the transliteration of Cantonese pronunciation of “炒杂碎”. Chao (炒) means stir fry, which is the most common cooking technique in Chinese cuisine. Za (杂) means a little bit of everything
Sui (碎) mean broken; it is referring to all the roughly chopped ingredients
There is no specific recipe for Chao Za Sui because it is an impromptu stir fry that is made with whatever ingredients you have.
    🥢PRINTABLE RECIPE - soupeduprecipes.com/easy-chop...
    INGREDIENTS
14 oz (400 grams) of mixed vegetables
2 cloves of garlic sliced thinly
1/2 inch of ginger sliced thinly
12 oz (340 grams) of meat (beef, pork, chicken, fish...)
    1/2 tsp of salt
    1/4 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of soy sauce to marinate the pork (Amazon Link - geni.us/light-soy-sauce)
1 tsp of dark soy sauce (Amazon Link - geni.us/dark-soy-sauce)
Some black pepper to taste (Amazon Link - geni.us/JAqDoA)
2-3 tbsp of cooking oil to stir fry the meat
A splash of water if needed
1 tbsp of soy sauce to seasoning the vegetables (Amazon Link - geni.us/light-soy-sauce)
1/2 tbsp of oyster sauce (Amazon Link - geni.us/nmsF8)
A drizzle of Chinese cooking wine (Amazon Link - geni.us/ouJonYK)
2 tsp of cornstarch (Amazon Link - geni.us/2RjYMr)
    1/4 cup of water
A drizzle of sesame oil (Amazon Link - geni.us/78Bln)
    INSTRUCTIONS
Cut 14 oz of vegetables into bite-size. You can use whatever you like. I choose Chinese broccoli, carrot, snow peas, bell pepper, cauliflower, and bean sprout.
    Slice 2 cloves of garlic and 1/2 inch of ginger thinly;
Cut 12 oz of pork shoulder into 1/8 of an inch thick slices. You can also use the same marinade but switch to chicken or beef. Marinate it with 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of baking soda, 1 tsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of dark soy sauce, and some black pepper to taste. Mix until well combined. Set it aside for 15 minutes.
Before cooking, quickly mix 2 tsp of cornstarch and 1/4 cup of water.
Turn the heat to high and heat the wok until it is smoking hot. Add some cooking oil and toss it around to cover the bottom of the wok. Go in with the marinaded pork. Quickly stir the pork for a minute or 2. Take it out. Make sure you tilt the wok so you can leave the oil in the wok.
Turn the heat back on high. Toss in the garlic and ginger slices. Stir for a minute or until they are fragrant. Throw in the vegetables. Cook them for a couple of minutes. If you see the wok is a bit dry, you can add a couple of splash of water; the steam will help to cook the vegetables through.
Season with 1 tbsp of soy sauce and 1/2 tbsp of oyster sauce. Keep stirring. Add the bean sprout and the leafy part of the gailan. Introduce the pork back to the wok. Add a splash of Chinese cooking wine from the side of the wok. Mix to combine everything. Pour in the cornstarch water. Stir until the sauce is thickened up. Before serving, add a drizzle of sesame oil for the nutty taste. Enjoy!

I live in Norway and it doesn't let you order here, I filled the "Rest of the World" option and heard nothing. I can't retry even though that attempt was several months ago as I just get
      "You've already responded
You can only fill in this form once.
Try contacting the owner of the form if you think this is a mistake."
Also tried messaging on the Souped Up Recipe website to no avail.

@@UncleBillsKitchen Mandy has an in depth video on how to season the wok. Because I don't have a gas stove that heats high enough, I opted to season mine in an extremely hot oven. It worked beautifully. Search her videos and I'm sure you'll find the video I am referring to. I think she demonstrated how to season it three different ways, in fact. Happy cooking!

Hi, Mandy! You have come _SO_ far since you first started the "Souped-up Recipes" channel, here on TH-cam! It's hard to believe how polished your English skills and your recipe presentation skills have become, in just a few short years. You are now among YT's 'best of the best' cooking channels, and I couldn't be more pleased for you. It's also good to see you getting into branding and marketing your own product line. Just don't let the money side of things lessen your passion for the food, or your love of teaching others to cook beautiful, delicious and healthy meals. Thank you!

Several years ago.... my family ate chop souey. 😋 I asked my dad "whats in this??" My mom laughed and said "It's your dads recipe of leftovers!"
I recall cabbage, carrots, beef or pork, all I know is that through my dad, I learned to eat and enjoy oriental foods over any other.☺️ I've been preparing Asian foods for over half a century. But through your videos did I actually learn how to do it properly. Thank you.😘 🌿🙌🏼💕🤗🍃😋

I used ground tirkey, red bell pepper, carrots, thinly sliced cabbage & onions. The kids both said that this was better than our favorite Chinese carryout. My local carryout has been increasing their prices while using smaller containers- which reduces the quantity. To feed a family of 4 for dinner costs $45 with tax. Buying all of the sauces cost me $10 & I can make it over & over again! Great job Mandy! Looking forward to my next food adventure.

Can you teach us how to make the green beans that you find in a Chinese restaurant? Also spring rolls and egg rolls? I go to our Asian grocery and I am so confused because there are so many things that I don’t understand what it is, and what it’s used for. Could you do a video in a Asian grocery and explain some things? It would help so much. We have a large Asian grocery in my town.

A few years back I placed an order for your Wok. The order was never acknowledged. If not mistaken, you were living in Equador at the time. Nice to see you online, again.

Great Recipe ! I wont have a Wok but very simlar WOK Pan made from Carbon and Alminum , a Silit Pan. High Quality Pan this One is awesome you wont need to over heat it and need lesser oil, it keeps the heat so well ove rthe entire Pan , also creates this special taste you mentioned , also extremly easy to clean because of surface of it, its made for high heats. I make all my Asian Foods in this an it tastes amazing.
I try to cook a lot Asian Foods , even German Cruisine is not bad but often too heavy in Starchy or high in carb Parts. The lightweight and veggie based kitchen is much better for my health also better to controll how much meat i eat. I love this way to cook because i can decide if i like to eat it with meat or not.

Hello Mandy. I've been cooking Chinese foods for many years. Since I'm from Canada, in Canadian Chinese restaurants, chop suey is mainly with bean sprouts with onions and celery. It also can contain various meats and seafoods. Your version over here would be called "pork with mixed vegetables". All in all, it's a very good dish. I cook Chinese about 4 times a week.

The first thing I thought of was System of a Down. I tried it and it was amazing! Keep up the good work! 😃

Looks like it tastes 100 times better than what my local UK takeaways offer (meat & vegetables in an unappealing sweet red sauce).

I would love to see you do Chicken Sub Gum Chow Mein. Mom always ordered it years back when she took brother and I there on Friday evenings for dinner. I believe it had almonds in it too.

Delicious, I like to top it with a tiny bit of that hot chili and garlic oil.
