There is a slight mistake in your explanation: His sisters weren't squibs, because Gilderoys parents were muggles. Someone can only be a squib if at least one of his/her parents is a wizard or witch. His sisters were 'just' muggles, while he was a muggleborn wizard.

Think about this: Dumbledore has willingly ruined the educational process for a year just to guide Harry not to enjoy his celebrity status. There was no other reason to invite Lockhart, a useless teacher.

It was a great lesson for Harry to not get too full of himself w/ his popularity and celebrity status. He still had to prove himself so he wouldn't look like a fool.

Obviously you haven’t read the chamber of secrets. If you did and understood it, the reason he invited him should be abundantly clear. He taught Harry in a single year something that Dumbledore himself took 30 years to learn. Fame and power for the sake of it is not worth the cost. Something Dumbledore lost a sister to learn. Dumbledores want for power was his Achilles heal. Harry’s and Rons was Fame and Glory.

When you think about it, students taking the DADA OWLs or NEWTS probably got 'above expectations' or 'outstanding' because all they had to do was memorise shit about Lockhart. Granted it isn't very useful knowledge but it looks good on their educational history.

I hated in the book when Lockhart forced Harry to walk with him and Lockhart was telling Harry that bringing down the greatest dark wizard was nothing and that winning the best smile award was so much better. He’s so self centered but he really annoyed me.

We know Prof. Lockheart is particularly gifted with memory charms. Now I wonder if Prof Lockheart would have been able to extract the Horcrux memory from Professor Slughorn, as Dumbledore recalls saying he himself is not able to get that information from Slughorn as he was a formidable wizard. Prof Lockheart vs. Prof. Slughorn in the memory charm arena...thoughts anyone?

I never would have chosen Kenneth Branagh for Lockhart if I was casting "Chamber of Secrets", but the problem is, he made the role so memorable that I can't imagine anyone else playing "the 5 time winner of Witch Weekly's Most charming Smile award".
I remember reading Lockhart's blurb on Pottermore and being intrigued and appalled by his actions during his Hogwarts days. Dumbledore was right in his assessment of Gilderoy being a great wizard with lots of potential, but he was not willing to put in the work to maintain a wider range of spells that would truly make him great. Especially with copyright infringement being drilled into my brain during my high school and college years, I am even more incensed that Lockhart stole the credit of other wizards for himself and passed it off as his own work. Even at seven years old, i.e. when my mum read "Chamber of Secrets" to me for the first time, I considered him being the victim of his own memory charm as an ironic and fitting way to go out.

As a Ravenpuff, I too am embarrassed that such an ambitious, but very lazy, wizard would come from my main house. And as for Dumbledore hiring him to expose his crimes of memory blasting the TRUE doers of Lockhart's great deeds... even when I was seven years old (i.e. how old I was when my mum read "Chamber of Secrets" to me for the first time), I thought Lockhart being defeated by his own memory charm was an oddly fitting way to go out.

If he graduated from Hogwarts in 1982 (at age 18, judging by the DOB given ), that would make him 28 in 1992 and 29 when he lost his memories at the end of the school year in 1993.
Kind of messed up if you think about it that he had to live decades in that state.
When Lockhart said to ask Snape for a love potion, Harry described his reaction as ''he looked like the first person to ask him for a love potion, would be force-fed poison'' 😂😂😂😂😂😃😂😂

When someone is hit with the killing curse it leaves no mark on the body. The final battle between Voldemort and Harry in the deathly hallows part 2 voldy fires the killing curse at Harry but is met with a spell by Harry. Harry’s spell soon over takes voldy and causes voldy’s killing curse to rebound which ultimately causes his death. The question is why did, when hit with the killing curse, his body turn into confetti instead of just becoming a corpse like any other person that feel victim to Avada kadrava?
I haven’t read the books in years i guess it was only for the movie appeal but I thought it might have had a darker meaning to it

There's a few hints in the books. Off the top of my head:
1) Dudley breaks his (brand new? I can't remember, it's been a while since I read the books) Play Station in one of the books (I think Chamber of Secrets).
2. When Harry and Ron are invited to Nearly Headless Nick's 500th Deathday party, his date of death is given as 1492, meaning that party occured in 1992.
