Just realised that if that guy hadn't interrupted his own last rites, the dragon might have shown up and distracted everyone before he could be executed.
I wouldn't say that nobody talks about Morrowind. The gameplay has aged like milk, to be sure, but it's generally agreed to have the best story of any Elder Scrolls game.
@@leysaplays There's a reason why Morrowind is getting remade by fans with Skyrim's engine ("Skywind"). There used to be a similar project for Oblivion ("Skyblivion"), but it's sadly been abandoned/stopped. But the very fact that quite a lot of people put _that_ much effort into recreating those games should give you an idea of how much people love them 🥰
I have played all of the Elder Scrolls games and of the 5 major titles, Morrowind is by far my favorite story. The graphics need an update, and the game mechanics can be quirky, but the game is so well loved that you can easily find tools like the Morrowind Code Patch and the Morrowind Graphics Extender that have plenty of online guidance to walk you through them. I still regularly go back and replay the game even today because the lore and the world building in that game was just top notch.
A true classic can be picked up after 20 years and still be fun and entertaining. Just from the bit I've played I can tell Skyrim fits that bill. And yes, the atmosphere is breathtaking. I can't get enough of it.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this first part of your playthrough! There is something so funny and wholesome about Ralof waiting for you to finish gathering your mountain flowers, haha
I'm glad you had fun!! I'm so glad I finally played this game 😃 Only regret is waiting so long and missing out on those years I could have been playing it.
@@leysaplays I had a good chuckle when you figured out how to clear a custom map marker, and when you removed it another popped up. That was me 10 years ago.
@David Huston Hi David! Thanks for watching! You'd think after 4 months I wouldn't make this same mistake, but it still does crop up lol. My fingers are still perma-memorized with WoW controls, even a year after quitting, so I still fumble buttons in Skyrim.
Thanks for watching and commenting Wincey 🙂 I did eventually get about 3 mods, nothing crazy, and that was after about 6 months 😄 I'm trying to keep the game as "original" as I can with the edition I have, but still make minor improvements in accessibility.
@@leysaplays Great idea keeping it close to the original, safer for doing your playthroughs the first time. It's currently easier to mod with Special Edition, if you ever delve head first into modding afterwards. I'm happy to see you are enjoying Skyrim. Would be interesting to see your reaction to an ultra modded skyrim after you've complete the "vanilla" version.
@Wincey97 oh I'm sure once you go heavy molded you never go back. I really, really want texture mods but don't dare as I'm not done with my 2 characters.
Hi bslim8, thanks for watching! You have a long way to go and dozens ahead of you yelling at me through their screens and comments to quicksavw more 😅 After 30 episodes I'm finally getting better at it! Better late than never right? 🤣
I'm a couple months late on this, but welcome to Elder Scrolls! Skyrim is probably the most popular because it's the newest and easiest to get into, but I wouldn't say no one talks about Morrowind or Oblivion lol, those games are celebrated to this day for how great they were. Both of them are being remade entirely in the Skyrim engine as a mod. The Skyblivion mod just received a release date trailer a few days ago. Highly worth checking out sometime. But even the original games are fantastic still. Morrowind is generally regarded as having the best storyline of the series, whereas Oblivion is well known for having extremely good questlines overall. Skyrim is just more user-friendly, and holds the best combat, which is a very great way to take your first step into ES. I hope you enjoy it, and hopefully it opens the door to other ES games for you someday.
Hi Ariastyr! Thanks for watching! This isn't my first foray into Elder Scrolls actually 🙂 I played Daggerfall when it released but didn't get very far in it. As a teenager I found it to be fairly difficult and pretty buggy and moved on to other games. About all I remembered about this world are a few country names, and that Khajit existed 😅 I'm a cat person so no surprise that detail stuck! I do own Oblivion and Morrowind, and what you say of them mirror what others have said as well; makes me very curious to try eventually!
I swear this let’s play is taking me way back to my first launch of skyrim ! I’m late to watch this serie but i’ll enjoy it ! I hope 10 month later, you still love this game 🔥
Welcome Amadeus! How fortunate you are to arrive 10 months "late", that means you get to binge watch and don't have to wait patiently for uploads 😄😃 I'm still loving it! Each time I play I'm still blown away by this game 🤩😊
Hi SpewnyBard! Thank you for mentioning this - it blows me away that people might actually talk about my channel/content, it's still so new to me, even a year later :) I hope you enjoy!
I just started watching but something i would recommend is watching a video on the two different factions because you were caught crossing the border with the group who’s leader murdered the high king so basically the stormcloaks are terrorists thats why i always go either imperials but its still your choice
Hi Bonnie, welcome! That is an excellent suggestion :) I really feel like I need to make an informed decision and the game hasn't been super great at presenting both sides in frequent/concise terms. Hmm, I don't recall the Imperials say that I was caught with a group of Stormcloaks, just that I was caught crossing the border?
@@Cragmortis I haven't touched any mods yet. I peeked into the website and slowly backed away lol. I have been told about SkyUI and I'm sure I'd try that eventually. Maybe in some years I'll need mods.
@@leysaplays Oh yeah, lots of adult stuff on there. You can filter it out. I've downloaded many quality of life mods and bug fixes that will keep your game from soft locking witch the game is prone to doing. One mod I would download would be the Unofficial Skyrim Patch or the Special Edition patch if you have that version. It will make you game ALOT more stable and fixes a lot of bugs Bathesda has refused to fix. If you are doing a vanilla playthrough it would make a lot of the quests that are broken work. Happy Shouting!
@@Cragmortis wouldn't the AE edition, being later than SE, already have those patches/fixes? Happy Shouting indeed hahahaha, you do not yet know me sir. If you continue, be prepared for a paucity of shouts had 🤣
Hi ForgottenCreek! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂 I hope my videos continue to entertain 😃 Hard to believe it's been almost a year of playing Skyrim, I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface!
@forgottencreek so you've ventured into the horror show that is Daggerfall? I have vivid memories of that game, not many positive 😅 I do want to try Oblivion sometime soon!
I'm happy that you play without mods, i hate people who never played skyrim instal 20 mods and say "first time playing skyrim" at that point you aren't even playing skyrim man
Thanks for watching! I didn't even know mods existed, honestly 😅 I was stuck under the WoW rock for almost 15 years and gaming changed a lot in the meantime! I did eventually install mods in this playthrough, but only the unofficial patch, SkyUI and A Cats Life 😸 That wasn't until like 50-60 episodes though, can't remember exactly when I installed them, but it was a long time without them!
Argonians and Khajiit recieved a change in appearance in Morrowind; in Daggerfall they had a more human appearance. So you are correct when you state that they did not look like that back then.
Another thing about them is that they've become more human than they were in Morrowind, as well. In Morrowind, Argonians (don't know abou Khajit since I didn't play them much) couldn't wear full helms because of their head shape, and both couldn't wear boots if I remember correctly, due to them having uniquely shaped legs and feet. Since then, their bodies have become more human in shape, despite their animal-like faces and tails.
Making my standard comment about the Stormcloak soldier that rushed to his own execution. The priestess invoked the EIGHT divines, denying the divinity of Talos, which was one of the conditions of the Thalmor on the Empire to cease hostilities. This was a major cause of the Nords of Skyrim taking up arms against the Empire. So when the priestess excluded Talos by not invoking the NINE divines the soldier stepped forward saying "For the love of Talos, shut up and let's get this over with!" I'm such a looter that I don't like leaving anything in Helgen Keep so after I loot every room, up to the bridge, I run back to the start on the Empire side and store it all in the chest closest to the door. After I make my way to Riverwood and start selling off I fast travel back to Helgen to get it, fast travel back and temporarily store it in one of the barrels in town. It usually takes me two trips because I get everything worth more than 3 gold. (4 base value gets 1 gold from vendors at start of game while 3 gets you nothing.) If you think that's bad then I usually spend half an hour chopping firewood to sell to Hod. At about 55 gold per minute that gets me an extra 1650 gold. Great for early game. All buyers of firewood have unlimited gold. I did an experiment at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. Hulda, with only 115 gold in her sell screen, paid me 1,000 for 200 firewood. BTW, to carry 1,650 weight in firewood (or all of any item as long as you have more than 5) you drop all of it at once. This bundles it all into 1 piece that you can pick up holding the 'take' button down longer. You can now walk or run at normal speed with the firewood floating in front of you. If you sprint or turn too fast you'll drop it and have to pick it up again. To get through doors, though, you have to drop it and take it back into your inventory.
Wow, this is an awesome post 😃 So much good info! That clarification about the divine and the priestess gives me such a better understanding of that intro to the game. You, sir, take the cake. 😉 That is some true dedication to getting your characters started off comfortably in the world. And you brought up woodcutting! Share more on this mechanic please! I've suspected it exists because of axes laying around, and another viewer stating you can build houses from scratch.
@@leysaplays The easiest axe to get is the one on the table behind the sawmill in Riverwood. There are two chopping blocks nearby, one behind the mill and the other one in front of the ramp up to the saw. Just place your sight on the chopping block and press 'E.' The animation is slow and boring but I'm of the personality type that finds it relaxing. But that's not good for TH-cam videos, of course. Sorry.
The Stormcloaks are...complex. On the one hand, you've got people like Ralof, who genuinely do want Skyrim and all its people to be free and to restore religious freedom. But at the same time, there's a significant enough portion of the movement who ONLY wants Skyrim to be a place for the Nords and doesn't really give a darn about whether it's a good place for anyone else to live. And the manner in which Ulfric killed the High King was, according to in-universe etiquette, a pretty big no-no. The situation is, to put it mildly, complex. I know people have already pointed out you can increase your carry weight by increasing stamina, but you can also up your carry weight with gear-Thieves' Guild armor and one of the dragon masks if I remember right- and one of the standing stones. Also, every time you pick up a new ingredient or plant or something, eat it! It's a pretty easy way to level alchemy IMO. All in all, welcome to the game, and buckle in-it's gonna be an interesting ride!!
Hi Red! Thank you for commenting 🙂 I love hearing everyone's insights and tips! You're very right, the politics in Skyrim are definitely complex. I can understand all the positions involved and empathize with them, which makes it extremely difficult to pick a side. Everyone has good and bad. My strategy so far with Leysa is to just be Switzerland and see how it plays out 😄 I hope you enjoy watching! I do get better, eventually 😅 I'm lucky to have amazing viewers who give support but not spoilers, and it's been a wonderful journey!
@@leysaplays yeah, if I ever write a fanfic it's going to be "the dragonborn sticks ulfric and tullius in a room and makes them talk it out, realize that both of their ideas have merit, and team up to defend skyrim from thalmor imperialism" or something haha
FYI - the local map is mainly of use in dungeons, towns etc. The world map does what it says and make sure you read what the marks mean and how to find where to go for a quest.
@@leysaplays You'll get used to it, I did. Spend time making a few notes on a bit of paper? Find a printed manual on the internet (in the very old days you got one carved in runes on stone) although I'm not sure if there is one.
I am currently on my like, 5th playthrough of this game, but in reality I have never finished it because it always breaks from the many many mods I installed so, this time I just put the necessary ones for a better UI and lighting and such and just one for some extra armours and weapons, but nothing that can break the game. I am 70+ hours in, level 33 and this time I might actually finish it!
@@leysaplays Oh I totally get that! There's so many games that when I get near the end I just inexplicably stop playing. The more I am enjoying them the higher the chances that it will happen too

Not gonna lie, when I first started playing Skyrim in the back of my mind I was wishing I was playing Dragon Age lol. I'm pretty sure I'll do a Dragon Age Let's Play at some point ;) Like you said, they're working on #4 and even I am annoyed with myself at this point to not have finished.
OK I can see that point of view, but he was still willing to let me die without being on their oh-so-important lists, so I'm still pretty mad at him. :)
@@leysaplays Yep, indeed - Hadvar was fine letting you get _murdered,_ not even legally executed - afterall, you weren't even on their list. He was the "I was just following orders" kind of guy.
@@leysaplays I'm new to your channel (and I see you have 21 parts already!), but I'll be curious to see how you eventually view the Imperials (Hadvar, Tulius, Captain Legate) and the Stormcloaks (Ulfrik, Ralof, most of the prisoners in the beginning). Have fun!
Welcome Steve, thanks for watching :) As I get bits and pieces of lore I definitely start to see there are a lot of sides involved in what's going on in the geopolitical landscape. I hope I can keep an open mind, since the Imperials tried to murder me, afterall ;)
One thing people overlook is that the Stormcloaks also don't speak up and say "this person is not one of ours". They could have at least tried. Instead they just let the Imperials try to gank you with not a word of defense. So really, both sides are shady. :) War, I guess. I think Bethesda did a good job overall showing good and bad of both sides, but the intro definitely leans more into the Empire Bad, Stormcloaks Good vibe. Enjoy!
So fun you got to experience this game for the first time recently 😅 I never wanted too side with imperials cause well they tried to kill me but also never wanted to side with the storm cloaks cause frankly Ulfric always annoyed me (I don’t know what it is but he seriously irritates me 😂) So i always felt stuck I wish I could have chose neither
I'm glad I listened to my friend who suggested it! It's been wonderful playing it and being able to chat with so many great viewers 😃 I agree, both sides aren't very attractive, and it feels like you're forced to choose between two bad candidates. On my mage playthrough I chose the Imperial to escape with, just to see what the difference was. I'm still meh to both 😄
I got skyrim on release day. When I got home and installed it on my computer I made a female Britain named DRI L LA. She was a Archer conjurer build. I had so much fun playing as her through the game.
@@leysaplays I had so many times that I used conjurations to make the bad guys that are further into a dungeon just kind of waste their time an energy to try to find me. And then I would finish them off with a couple of good arrow shots as they retreated away from me after not being able to fine meeks out of hiding.
Oh yea, scarring 😅 Especially as a teen back in the days before the internet had walkthroughs and buying a Prima guide was too expensive for most. The reason I never touched TES again until this Skyrim playthrough.
I know I'm late: But fun facts about the khajiits, there are a lot of different versions of them (also more humanoid ones), which you can see I believe in daggerfall But only the ones you see in Skyrim or Oblivion are allowed outside of their country (I don't remember the exact reasoning)

To be fair, it makes sense that that he'd want to get his execution over in a world with a literally provable afterlife. He doesn't have all day, he's got a party in Sovengard to attend. People seem to think he could avoid his death if he didn't interrupt, but to me he feels more like a my entire life is interrupting the afterparty type guy. But since this is blind it makes sense you don't know that.
I understand it in our current real life, but just imagining Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli halting their epic chase to save Merri and Pippin to freshen up their makeup just strikes me as odd. So I've never understood it in games 😃 Now, if you're playing a sniper and need camo, totally get that! 😄
Welcome Battle Sister it is never too late to start this game but I always go the other way than the way you went in the beginning because when you get to Riverwood you get free stuff from the Black Smith for saving his son and it helps out for beginners
Welcome to the game. Skyrim is still really awesome. I recommend playing the main quest without any mods the first time through, but then the mods add a lot of additional life to the game as long as you are careful not to load too many or conflicting ones. Perhaps the only exception would be some that simply improve the visuals a bit. I can tell you are an veteran RPG player since you seem to fit right into Skyrim - I even questioned if this was truly a "blind" play through - since you seem to know what to do most of the time.
Hi Jason! Thanks for watching 🙂 Everything I said in Episode 01 is 100% true. This is truly blind, and the only gameplay I had seen was the intro, due to my BF making multiple characters over several years and wanting input on his character creator parts. Once he went into the keep I'd wander away and go do my own things 😄 You are correct - I've played PC games virtually my entire life, since 1986. RPGs have always been in my top 3 genres, and I'd spent the past 14 years in WoW and 4 years in EQ before that. So yes, this has been a very easy game to step into and handle yourself in the world. It's just been a matter of learning this world and how it's mechanics work 😃
@@leysaplays Yeah, I figured you were being honest but you were doing so well, sometimes I wondered. I figured it was just your previous RPG experience helping you grasp Skyrim so quickly. Sovngarde is the Nord equivalent of Valhalla in Norse mythology. Good video, keep it up. A tip - don't rush too much, read the text that comes up, finish conversations so you learn what your're supposed to be doing, don't miss clues as to how to do it and get the background to the game. Then THINK about how to do things the best way for your character and skills eg if you use heavy armour it's not easy to sneak up on people so find another way.

@@leysaplays If I wasn't a gentleman I might remind you about the problem of finding the Alchemy Table in the Sleeping Giant which could just possibly perhaps been due to a bit of a rush (but as I am I won't).
@@leysaplays Don't I (and so does everyone who's played Skyrim) but if you can manage it even occasionally it helps (and it's always easier to see what someone else should do than to do it yourself)
FYI - there is crafting (smithing, alchemy and enchanting) in the game and you need to develop your skills because as you level up so do your enemies and if you haven't improved your kit you will find it harder to stay alive.
@@leysaplays Fine, I think everyone should play their own way so do proceed (although some approaches go so against the basic design and mechanics they're not worth watching and do get quite a lot of adverse comments if people do them as let's plays).
Skyrim might be considered less "pure"/more "console game" compared to Daggerfall, which was very hard core. Morrowind has a lot of those older mechanics, more like Daggerfall, and Oblivion as well. Skyrim was an improvement to the roleplaying game core, though some would call it "simplification". Morrowind is far less forgiving of an experience, but also deeper in many ways. Morrowind is so alien compared to Skyrim, with the giant mushrooms and the silt striders. Also, if you want to be a Caster (or a thief-y hybrid, like Nightblade or your own custom hybrid), then it's extra OP in Morrowind and even Oblivion. The old spellmaker allows you to do some insane things. Of course, the Survival Mode in Skyrim does make it a little more old school feeling... but it also is more punishing.
When I was younger I had fewer things holding my time, so harder games were more fun than I find them today. My free time is so limited that I really want to maximize fun, and hard for hard's sake isn't much fun anymore. I still want to try those 2 games eventually, and I appreciate the honest assessment, so I'm not blindsided.
Well at first it was boring, then I got more into it and saw more functionality so it did improve. Much like most things in life - first glances aren't enough to make a solid opinion :)
FYI - unlike many rpgs in Skyrim you gain XPs by doing things, eg hitting people with a sword increases one skill, shooting them with a bow another etc. Finishing quests isn't really relevant to levelling.
You sided with Ralof eh? Let's be honest most folk do in their first playthrough XD My honest answer after countless characters? I've recently been viewing many of these "first time playing skyrim blind" videos. The only 2 that I like, yours and one other, happen to be the only 2 that choose to go with Ralof at the start. Seems everyone just goes with Hadvar.
That is quite interesting. I wonder why...so many possibilities there. I haven't been watching any other creators play and that makes me curious lol. Like, what was their thought processes and did they speak about that decision.

Did it take you long to understand the basic modding stuff for Skyrim? Versions are very important. Lucky, that SkyUI isn't and it uses the same version forever for Special and Anniversary Edition. Short my mod recommendations: Better Dialogue Controls with Better Message Box Controls (2 separate mods), instead of the glowing books Better Skill and Quest Book Names, MoreHUD, Compass Navigation Overhaul with Infinity UI (because it's needed for that mod and that mod is just amazing), A Quality World Map, CoMAP. As a baseline I actually advice to use the Wabbajack Modlist called SME - Skyrim Modding Essentials. With that you'll already have a lot of bugfixes solved and even some Stuttering issues. Check out how LOOT and Mod Organizer work because as the amount of your plugins grow you'll need to have the right load order. Fortunatelly, LOOT will sort everything automatically. Hi HEXA, thanks for watching and commenting! Do you mean the Morrowind game, or the province? I haven't played Morrowind yet so I still have a lot to learn and explore in this world 😃
Because when I would try to click and drag bars or click on dialogue options the game would either not recognize my clicks, or blitz and select something I wasn't clicking on. In episode 1, using the keyboard for menu navigation wasn't obvious to me.
KEYBOARD and mouse. Use the Keyboard ie in character creation the Arrow Keys are used to move the slider for precise control. After watching countless of these, I've noticed these younger players are very mouse dependent 'point and clicking' 90% of the time instead of using keyboard keys as the game was designed.
I would argue that this game was designed for a controller and the K&M optimization was not well designed. It's not as bad as RDR2, but it took quite a while to get comfortable with it. Meanwhile, WoW was specifically designed for K&M and 2 years after quitting I know I can log in and rock out without a thought or a hitch. Heck, I used the keyboard way more in WoW than Skyrim since I bound my abilities to 10-key, and used shift, alt and control + 10-key to use 30+ abilities without ever touching the mouse.
@@leysaplaysYou can change key bindings and bind favorites as you wish. Settings tells you all the key binds and allows you to customize your game. I discovered on accident I could bind favorites to number keys and I'd only played Beta Minecraft, FarmVille and Bejeweled b/4 playing Skyrim.. Odd that ~10 irl hrs into the game you haven't. Experiment. It's what I did. Familiarizing yourself with the game controls helps too...like Quicksave (F5) and Resting (T). I'm over 50 now and I've played many more games. Arrow keys for sliders, space bar= jump, i=inventory, m=map in 99.9% of the games I play even ones I've never played b/4 and in genres that are new to me.
@@leysaplays Probably in the leveling system. There's a lot to do in menus. Well, there are lots of places to fight daedra as well. Straight out of the vanilla game without updates there's a lot of quality of life improvement needed. The hundred or so portals on the map could use a completed icon rather than not checking off, so you don't waste time revisiting them. You'll probably need to lower the difficulty slider a smidge at some point. I'd say the most frustrating thing was the less intuitive map. It's slow and small. There's mods out to improve it. Strongly advise not playing on console. Improvements are needed.
@@DarkKnightBatman420 no consoles but Atari and NES for me 😄 PC for life! Thanks for the info about Oblivion, hopefully little bells will go off if I decide to play it at some point.
@@leysaplays the quests are a lot less hold your handish, you have to really think over the clues instead of just following a quest marker. The leveleing system is a bit more complex too.
keep uploding new ep please, I would like to watch more, remine me of the old game Might and Magic, 6 was the best of it. After that, i don't think there is any games can really fifull my expection. unfortunatlly, the price of that game is way over my budget, why buy it if i can just watch someone play. lol
Might & Magic 4: Clouds of Xeen and 5: Darkside of Xeen are arguably in my top 3 favorite games. I did play 6: Mandate of Heaven and enjoyed it, but it was so different from 4/5 that I never locked into it as a favorite. I fully intend to keep playing and recording, getting sick has set me back a bit but that won't be much longer hopefully!
@@leysaplays wow, i almost forget about the title of the MM4 and MM5, i remember MM3 you can hire 2 mercenaries, up to 8 characters in the menu, 6 actually changed everything down to 4 members with 2 followers can't even fight in the battle. anyway, hope you get well soon.
I have MM3 but have only played like 10 minutes of it. I didn't know that was possible to hire mercenaries. Seems like an odd mechanic for the older game, I would have thought that'd be a newer mechanic.
See I haven't looked into mods at all yet. I figured a vanilla experience would be best for a new player. A viewer recommended a QOL mod for keybinds that I might check out, stuff like that makes sense to me at this point in my journey. So mods is what keeps people playing, because they add/change the experience in some respect they're looking for?
@@leysaplays You have the right approach; play Vanilla Skyrim from beginning to end and enjoy the game for what it is. As for Mods; they can literally change Skyrim into just about anything. Mods keeps players still playing Skyrim 11 years after the release. Also Mods can/will pull your hair out trying to get everything to mesh together and the game actually working. Its fun...
@@leysaplays You might want to get the Unofficial Patch that fixes a lot of issues that you might or might not run into (including ones that, if you're unlucky, can break quests so that you'll have to use console commands to fix then)... Bethesda are notorious for relying on modders to "finalize" their games...
Unfortunately, all video games are full of bugs in one way or another. For Skyrim, especially on PC, there are various mods that can help fix various bugs. Some bugs in Skyrim are negligible, even if they're annoying.
This is true, I remember having to mail requests for patch 3.5" floppies back in the day. It just seems really odd to me that the Anniversary Edition came out a year ago and all the bugs weren't fixed for that release. Why make your customers do the work?
@@leysaplays Sometimes, trying to fix bugs creates more problems than solutions. Some bugs are scripted in the game, and (from what I've read), the person who created the unofficial patch) modified several parts of the game to make his patch work. At some point, when the Anniversary Edition came out, pretty much most of the mods (except the graphical ones as far as I recall), had huge problems. The Anniversary Edition was all about giving the creation club mods, (that nobody was actually shitting themselves), to everyone. Up until AE came out, I had a handful of creation club mods, and ended up not using them at all... now somehow I have them all, and most of them aren't bad.
@@ShadowSoul92 that is a good point about fixing things causing more problems. Just goes back to the whole "code it right first" ethos that never seemed to stick with any developer. It's gotten progressively worse to now you literally pay a company for "early access" ie, testing. How frickin' genius was that of them? To convince players to pay developers money for them to do the work and find their bugs? So lame.
@@leysaplays The bethesda creation club for both fallout and skyrim was a flop. If maybe for Skyrim the creation club mods don't "break" the main quest, in fallout 4 some of the creation club mods break the main quest, crashing the whole game. In vanilla fallout 4, in the dlc of far harbor the main quest of the dlc breaks and crashes the game... not to mention the flop of Bethesda, with fallout 76. The creation club, was created so that talented modders could create mods for Bethesda, (I believe they were paid to make those mods), so that the mods were "checked and tested" so they wouldn't break the game... some mods from the fallout 4 creation club have been breaking the game for years and still no one has solved the problem except some nexus modders who have created a "patch" to delay the start of the creation club mods.
Wow I mean I usually hear people who played oblivion and only now are playing skyrim, some have rarely played morrowind, and here you are having only played daggerfall wtf lol Btw as someone who is currently playing all the four in parallel for the first time (even though I'm neglecting daggerfall) I HIGHLY recomend you to play at least morrrowind for the story/lore and alien environment. Of course oblivion is awesome too and one should at least play it for the memes. Well while I wouldn't recommend daggerfall to someone since I haven't managed to play it very well, you should know that at gog there's a unity version that is fully remastered with mods and for free.
So, you're struggling with Daggerfall, and wouldn't recommend it to someone, but you're surprised that after I play Daggerfall as a teenager and deal with that trauma, that I wouldn't touch Elder Scrolls again for decades? 🤣😅😂😆🙃 I'm actually lucky to be playing Skyrim at all after the horror that was Daggerfall. It's only cause of a friend that I am 😄 I could be playing Elden Ring instead lol. I did pick up the Unity GOG version, but yea, trauma....maybe one day. Maybe. Probably not.
Oblivion had the most diverse Storylines the Dark Brotherhood by far was best represented in Oblivion, the magic system and being able to create your own spells made me hate Skyrim at first
@@leysaplays Eghh it has a certain charm to it, but they dumbed down the Magic for Illusion spells, for example in Oblivion there is a Chameleon spell that if you attack or do anything you are invisible, but in Skyrim they still have an awesome Illusion perk tree but the invisibility is only brief so recasting it allows you to possibly go through a whole dungeon Destruction Magic once you lvl 100 it gives you Vegeta like lightning spell called Lightning Storm the DLCS were awesome for Skyrim but nothing beats Oblivion and its DLC Shivering Isles

Sorry no, my boyfriend has always made male Nord characters :) Even when he started back up a few weeks ago after listening to me talk about playing he made his male Nord :)
You know what they say about assuming :) I've had many male friends and watched them play different games, and I think I've seen them make female characters once or twice. That's just been my experience.
Nope! He wants me to finally finish Dragon Age :) A friend was pushing me to play either Elden Ring or Skyrim and I chose Skyrim, mainly cause it finally released half off on GOG and I had always been interested in it.
Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion are the best in the series tbh, Skyrim is fine, but removed so much from what the elder scrolls use to be. Its a fun action adventure game but not the best TES
@@leysaplays Not even the story/stories but the overall Rpg experience in the prior games and the difficulty of the past games is why i think they're better. Skyrim is very open in what you can do, which is fine, but makes replayability absent. For example Skyrim has unlimited leveling after the first few patches when the game launched, it use to be 81 was max level and you were very limited on your build, now its just do whatevers helpful forst because you will get all the perks in the game. In the other games leveling had a cap, you couldnt get all attributes/perks made having to make your build actually unique than someone elses. The fact that in skyrim you can just pick up whatever weapon or magic and you're automatically good with it is a bit of a downgrade, in previous games you had to use a weapon to be better at the weapon and not just have it be a "oh you leveled your sword to 10, automatically get 20% increased damage". in morrowind it was more so if you didnt spec into swords.. your character is absolutely trash at swords unless you really try an level that skill up, couldnt just swap from bow to sword to mace to magic all the time, it was a jack of all trades master of none, ehile skyrim is master literally everything just cuz.. Which again is fine, but ruins the overall experience especially with multiple playthroughs. The other games had some other smaller and even some major RP mechanics that set them apart from skyrim, as well as some other interesting stuff Skyrim took out. Skryims still a great game, ive put atleast 12k hours into it 😅, but its a bit lackluster when it comes to the RP side of things. As for the stories, eh its mixed skyrim has some quests that are better than morrowind/oblivion but so do those, and those games have some absolute trash quests tbh, while skyrim doesnt have too many objectively bad quests as the others. And Skyrim Factions are interesting in the story and some even better than 3&4 its just how skyrim does their factions that bother some people. Not going to spoil them, as i have no idea where you're currently at. But just wanted to give a different perspective as maybe some other comments. Skyrim still a 10/10 tho
@Puppet Master thank you for taking the time to type out your perspective! I love hearing different viewpoints and experiences, it really gets me thinking. How do you feel about where the franchise might go with #6, based on the progressions so far?
@@leysaplays Based off recent interviews with Todd Howard he mentions how he admits/acknowledges Skyrim and Fallout 4 lacked depth in many aspects i actually think TeS6 might go back to having more rpg elements again. Also if we're looking at Starfield he has made it clear that Starfield has alot of rpg elements/most theyve ever done(apparently), so if thats the case then maybe that will transfer into TeS6. Its not going to happen as Todd Howard has stated multiple times that the playable races in skyrim are more cosmetic than anything, but i would really love if in TeS6 each race had their own start/prologue, something like Dragon Age Origins, or each race could have their own special race specific perk tree, or just something as simple as each race having atleast 1 unique sidequest only available to them. It would add so much for replayability for different races other than just for looks or a power that doesnt effect gameplay too much. Theres so much they can do to make TeS6 truly be worthy of the 15plus year wait. I am very excited to see and very worried at the same time 😅
@Puppet Master I understand that feeling! I had that over Everquest Next and look what happened 😄 I agree, each race should have a little somethin-somethin to make it feel more unique and not just a skin. Even WoW added that, for races and classes. I really enjoyed the Tauren quest and regalia. It makes you more involved in your characters' lore and background. Here's to hoping! 🤞
I wanted to watch your playthrough but you apparentlty play with a gamepad wich make the entire experience a bit painful to watch. Plus we can hear every little clicking sounds from your joysticks and buttons, it's a bit annoying. Enjoy your journey, but it's a nope for me, have fun with the game, it's really good
Hi Jeremy! I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience watching my video, but I am thankful that you took the time to leave constructive feedback. I, too, am disappointed that the sound isn't perfect. I am playing on PC - so keyboard and mouse - and I'm only able to use what equipment I have available to me at this time. My mic is omnidirectional, so that's a big hurdle in avoiding keystrokes being picked up. Before I recorded the first episode I spent quite some time doing test recordings and fiddling with settings in Windows, OBS, the mic, my headphones, my speakers...everything I could find and think of. Nothing would prevent my keystrokes being picked up. Even last week while editing I spent some more time playing with noise gate settings, so it's definitely on my mind as an issue I want to resolve. I was so desperate trying to find perfect settings that I wasn't actually playing the game, and the entire point of me creating this channel was for it to be a goad to get me gaming again. So I decided to just let it be noisy and get to playing. If at some point this channel became profitable or could cover the costs of a unidirectional mic or a quieter keyboard, etc. then I would definitely make those improvements. As it is, all my funds could cover was the editing software to even create these videos to post. Thanks again for your input!
@@leysaplays Have you tried the expander in OBS to reduce the clicking noise? Might be worth trying... Gate to catch the noise floor, expander for the clicks and a second gate. Since the clicks should be reduced in volume the second gate might get rid of them. If that fails, you could still remove them manually during editing.
So I did spend some more time fiddling and Part 20 has updated sound settings. I put in an expander filter and also noise suppression. The noise gating wasn't working right so I ditched that this go round. I think the sound is ok, but it almost seems like my voice is cut a little bit. It's hard to tell for me since my hearing is still off from being sick, and I wasn't talking as much or as clearly, again from being sick. But maybe the lack of most keyboard sounds is better?
@@leysaplays It does seem to cut your voice, just relax the settings on the expander a bit. Something like a 4:1 ratio and lower threshold. It may bring back some of the clicky noise, but it's better to have a clear voice. Besides, on direwolf20's videos you can still catch the occasional "click" and he's a much bigger youtuber... so don't worry about it to much. Just have fun playing the game and making videos... and remember, keep calm and crush your enemies.
So cool to see people play this gem even today, 12 years after release.

I wouldn't say that nobody talks about Morrowind. The gameplay has aged like milk, to be sure, but it's generally agreed to have the best story of any Elder Scrolls game.
Interesting. Appreciate the opinion, that makes me more curious about trying out Morrowind eventually.
Wow, I didn't know that was a thing going on. Fascinating! And you're right, that definitely speaks to how well Morrowind must be revered.

Argonians and Khajiit recieved a change in appearance in Morrowind; in Daggerfall they had a more human appearance. So you are correct when you state that they did not look like that back then.
Thanks for the confirmation, it was a little surprising and not what I was expecting lol
You dropped helmets that are worth more than 17 times their weight in gold, but kept the armor that's worth less than 3 times it's weight.
First time playing 🙂 I had lots to learn 😅
Making my standard comment about the Stormcloak soldier that rushed to his own execution.
The priestess invoked the EIGHT divines, denying the divinity of Talos, which was one of the conditions of the Thalmor on the Empire to cease hostilities.
This was a major cause of the Nords of Skyrim taking up arms against the Empire.
So when the priestess excluded Talos by not invoking the NINE divines the soldier stepped forward saying "For the love of Talos, shut up and let's get this over with!"
I'm such a looter that I don't like leaving anything in Helgen Keep so after I loot every room, up to the bridge, I run back to the start on the Empire side and store it all in the chest closest to the door. After I make my way to Riverwood and start selling off I fast travel back to Helgen to get it, fast travel back and temporarily store it in one of the barrels in town. It usually takes me two trips because I get everything worth more than 3 gold. (4 base value gets 1 gold from vendors at start of game while 3 gets you nothing.)
If you think that's bad then I usually spend half an hour chopping firewood to sell to Hod.
Just place your sight on the chopping block and press 'E.'

Thanks for watching and commenting Ray! I am having such a great time!
My strategy so far with Leysa is to just be Switzerland and see how it plays out 😄
I hope you enjoy watching!

I need a little cheat sheet of the map/compass markers. So easy to forget since there's soooo many different kinds.
@@leysaplays You'll get used to it, I did. Spend time making a few notes on a bit of paper? Find a printed manual on the internet (in the very old days you got one carved in runes on stone) although I'm not sure if there is one.
Heh, I still have a note for mob quantities from HoMM1 taped to my monitor that's a solid 25+ years old 😄
@@leysaplays Always thought you were a very sensible lady - nice to be proved right.
Great video! Welcome to Skyrim! Really hope you enjoy it. It's really cool to see new players. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Stacy! Skyrim has definitely been meeting and exceeding my expectations. Looking forward to many more hours of fun.
I hope you get there! The number of games I've *actually* finished is so small lol, I hate for stories to end.
@@leysaplays Oh I totally get that! There's so many games that when I get near the end I just inexplicably stop playing. The more I am enjoying them the higher the chances that it will happen too
Oh my gosh, this is a running gag with my boyfriend - me and Dragon Age: Origins. I've played it on 3 different PCs since it released and have never completed it, despite having #2 and #3 waiting for me. I do not want to leave behind Alistair, Wynne and Morrigan! Every time I say "I think I'm going to go play a game", he responds "Dragon Age?" lol. He wants me to play Inquisition so bad since he enjoyed it so much and thinks I would too. But...But. :)
@@leysaplays Oh I am a big fan of dragon age! I have played 1 and 2 and I have read all the books but I have yet to finish Inquisition. I played it when it came out but I abandoned it near the end because there would not be more. Now I am replaying it since theres a new one in the making.I have promised myself that I will finish everygame I play even if I abandon it for months at a time and have to start it over sometimes and so far so good lol. To me it is bitersweet to finish a game. Just like finishg a book trilogy or a tv show. You feel happy and empty at the same time lol
Hadvar did not want to kill you, he took the orders from the captain she is the one that said to kill you even though you were not on the list.
Enjoy!
So fun you got to experience this game for the first time recently 😅
I never wanted too side with imperials cause well they tried to kill me but also never wanted to side with the storm cloaks cause frankly Ulfric always annoyed me (I don’t know what it is but he seriously irritates me 😂)
So i always felt stuck I wish I could have chose neither
I'm glad I listened to my friend who suggested it! It's been wonderful playing it and being able to chat with so many great viewers 😃
I agree, both sides aren't very attractive, and it feels like you're forced to choose between two bad candidates.
Archer conjurer, wow! That sounds sooo different and challenging! I bet you had a ton of great moments with her 😃
@@leysaplays I had so many times that I used conjurations to make the bad guys that are further into a dungeon just kind of waste their time an energy to try to find me. And then I would finish them off with a couple of good arrow shots as they retreated away from me after not being able to fine meeks out of hiding.
Devious. Sneaky. I love it!
Wow ! Daggerfall Pre Unity, that is hard-core.
Oh yea, scarring 😅 Especially as a teen back in the days before the internet had walkthroughs and buying a Prima guide was too expensive for most. The reason I never touched TES again until this Skyrim playthrough.
I know I'm late: But fun facts about the khajiits, there are a lot of different versions of them (also more humanoid ones), which you can see I believe in daggerfall
But only the ones you see in Skyrim or Oblivion are allowed outside of their country (I don't remember the exact reasoning)
Hi Wexmell! Better late than never I always say 😄
I've suppressed most of my memories from Daggerfall, but I do remember I played a Khajit. Seems like people didn't much like me...
Thanks for the info! Every tidbit makes the world more fleshed out and interesting!
Let's go... Shouldn't keep the gods waiting for us!
Do you mean that literally or figuratively? For all I know in this game, there really is a diety tapping their foot waiting for me to show up lol.
@@leysaplays actually it is from what is said as one exits the wagon just before the character creation sequence... as for what awaits, there is much for Dovakiin to learn about Daedra and Aedra! PLAY ON!
Oh yea, you're right! I remember that now. I recorded that video almost a month ago so it didn't ring a bell for me.
Yes, the gods were waiting... The algorithm gods have brought many viewers!
i wish i could go back and play Skyrim for the first time again lol
I feel the same way about Everquest 😉
FYI - you can sign up with either the Legion or the Stormcloaks but (obviously) not both as they're at war. When looting remember what you may need for yourself and sell the rest. Watch the value/weight ratio. And you don't get anything like the nominal value until you've got your speech skill up quite a lot which you do by buying and selling stuff.
Fortunately, I've been advised that playing "Switzerland" is possible for a significant amount of time. Which gives me a lot of time to decide which way to go :)
@@leysaplays That is the best way yes.
@Jo PlayingTheSims Hi Jo! Thanks for watching 🙂 I'm still playing Switzerland 😂 I have a feeling that will continue indefinitely, especially as I come across new stories/info that shed different perspectives on the sides. Heck, I just learned some new info on Monday that gave a new insight.
@@leysaplays Bethesda likes to give moral dilemmas where none of the options you are given are things you want to do and does so in multiple quests. Also sometimes they don't tell you there is another option that only gets triggered if you do something outside the options given. I won't name which ones since I don't know what quests you have done or not by now.

As a certifed 100% man I like makeup for both genders in cc because it makes you characters' eyes stand out better in longshots if you have eyeliner. Which i guess if you think about it is why eyeliner exsists.
Well, I didn't know that at the time :) Maybe if I ever make a second character...
@@leysaplays oh yeah you be playing this again with different characters multiple times can't wait to see the videos and the fun
Once he went into the keep I'd wander away and go do my own things 😄
You are correct - I've played PC games virtually my entire life, since 1986.
I've watch other "blind" plays by others and I'm surprised how they don't bother harvesting stuff all around them until several hours into the game.

I have great memories of Rivervale, was my hangout for a long time. Heck, I still have the legs that have Circle of Misty port 😆
@@leysaplays Very much the same here, I started in 1999 and did a lot of taxi work for quick cash until PoP. Much of my guild left for EQ2, which I would later try, but don't like. Then I tried WoW at the tail end of vanilla. "But as WotLK approached, I still had not maxed one character, so I set my resolve on a night elf hunter and raided in WotLK. I only first played Skyrim close to a year ago. I'm much more into single player now because of having several times invested deeply into guilds that just eventually evaperated. Besides, who wants to pay a subscription. Haha.
I'm now rather stuck on X4 Foundations starting only 2 weeks ago. It's a space sim. I thought I always wanted a good sci-fi space game, but now I'm realizing the universe is very empty and sterile. Mostly just a void. I miss the lush green forests of fantasy.
I hear ya about burning out on MMOs, that's basically why I started this channel :) After 14 years of WoW and a massive backlog of games that was daunting to start in to, I just was lost, not playing hardly anything at all. This has helped me get back to being myself again.
I love 4X games too :) I tend to go for the fantasy-based ones, though I LOVE Ascendency lol. The reptilian race with the advancement tree special ability is too OP to not play.

FYI - there is crafting (smithing, alchemy and enchanting) in the game and you need to develop your skills because as you level up so do your enemies and if you haven't improved your kit you will find it harder to stay alive.
Harder, but not impossible ;) I won't spoil anything but uh yea. You'll see how I feel about crafting in this game eventually...

57:41 This map is... leaving a lot to be desired. 1:02:25 Oh, my goodness!
The map is one of the finest, prettiest things in this game.
Well at first it was boring, then I got more into it and saw more functionality so it did improve. Much like most things in life - first glances aren't enough to make a solid opinion :)
@@leysaplays When you were looking at the local map, I was anticipating your reaction to a world map.
FYI - unlike many rpgs in Skyrim you gain XPs by doing things, eg hitting people with a sword increases one skill, shooting them with a bow another etc. Finishing quests isn't really relevant to levelling.
Yes, that was such a weird surprise. It still feels weird almost 5 months later.

@@leysaplays I don't know what with my comments happen bc I wrote a long one explaining some stuff and giving you mod ideas. I guess no links in comments. Morrowind is so pretty to me but I love Skyrim
Hi HEXA, thanks for watching and commenting!
Do you mean the Morrowind game, or the province? I haven't played Morrowind yet so I still have a lot to learn and explore in this world 😃
Do you have a mouse and no keyboard? Why would having a controller make character creation any easier?
Because when I would try to click and drag bars or click on dialogue options the game would either not recognize my clicks, or blitz and select something I wasn't clicking on. In episode 1, using the keyboard for menu navigation wasn't obvious to me.
Do you want tips or hints?
I don't mind tips, just not spoilers 🙂
Ahhhh another welp has join. You’ll become a mead drinker soon enough not like these milk drinkers.
It's a blast, loving it! Thanks for watching 🙂

Why it's all about Skyrim? Mods...lots and lots of Mods...
Yea sounds a lot like "early access" BS that goes on today...
@@ShadowSoul92 uts been so long since I've played games even close to this that mods basically didn't exist. That's all new to me and very strange.
Wow I mean I usually hear people who played oblivion and only now are playing skyrim, some have rarely played morrowind, and here you are having only played daggerfall wtf lol
Btw as someone who is currently playing all the four in parallel for the first time (even though I'm neglecting daggerfall) I HIGHLY recomend you to play at least morrrowind for the story/lore and alien environment.
I'm actually lucky to be playing Skyrim at all after the horror that was Daggerfall. It's only cause of a friend that I am 😄 I could be playing Elden Ring instead lol.
I did pick up the Unity GOG version, but yea, trauma....maybe one day. Maybe. Probably not.
@@leysaplays hah ok fair enough that makes sense
Hey Rhea!! 😍💕
Er, who? I don't recall a "Rhea" in this episode.

For the Stormcloak, Skyrim is a country. For the imperial army, Skyrim is a province.
Good perspective, thanks!
Oblivion had the most diverse Storylines the Dark Brotherhood by far was best represented in Oblivion, the magic system and being able to create your own spells made me hate Skyrim at first
If you hated Skyrim at first because of the magic system, what made you come to like it? Did you just avoid magic and stick with muscle?
@@drakeshotplays I do have Morrowind and Oblivion. Maybe I'll get around to them eventually and get to see some if this myself 🙂
@@leysaplays You really should Morrowind was awesome but now is really hard to get into that blocky playstyle Oblivion had a certain Humor in the randomness of the AI as well as adult humor Skyrim literally uses Milk Drinker as a cussword
@@drakeshotplays that makes me laugh lol
I play with controller cos its easier but it's up to you, just have fun
The last controller I actually liked using was NES ;) Keyboard & mouse for life.
How do you access the 8 quick item buttons on a controller?
Only 2 on controller left d pad is no 1, right d pad s no 2.
You'll never get anywhere if yoy keep picking everything...
Ohhh, you won't enjoy my first time in Whiterun then....
I wish achievements still worked with mods
Ohhh, achievements are dangerous, I learned my lesson in WoW. I am determined to not measure myself by anything besides "Is this fun?"
Achievements are for dummies who don't know why they're playing
@@leysaplays it’s just a thing for me i don’t set out to complete any specific achievement just like getting em

19:30 - would be so mean of the game - if - after you spend quarter of an hour making and fine tuning the look of your character - those evil Imperials do lop your noggin off a minute later when you start the game.
Or if you're like my boyfriend - spend 1-2 hours! I tease him so much for that.

I agree - I love it when there's a kill cinematic and I finally get to see myself in action!
The opening is almost the worst part of the game. Almost. The worst is any scene with Delphine.
I still do not understand why two dudes were fighting over her...
@@leysaplays They weren't fighting over Delphine. They were fighting over Lucan's sister. Delphine owns the inn
She's seen her boyfriend make a character, a wood elf hottie, and install HDT BBP assets, 🧐😳😵but she said nothing. 🤐😢
Interesting fact: I didn't know she would pick a wood elf! Being typing my comment before she came to customize her character.
Sorry no, my boyfriend has always made male Nord characters :) Even when he started back up a few weeks ago after listening to me talk about playing he made his male Nord :)
I tend to lean toward nature-loving characters in my RPGs. EQ=wood elf druid...WoW=tauren druid...Yet here I am, a sneaking thief lol.
@@leysaplays They say straight guys tend to play female character. That's why I was assuming... never mind.
You know what they say about assuming :) I've had many male friends and watched them play different games, and I think I've seen them make female characters once or twice. That's just been my experience.
You sound cute.
Thanks Jed 🙂 I hope you enjoyed watching!
Let's be honest, Leysa! It was your boyfriend who talked you into "jumping in" Skyrim and recording the whole thing?😉😊
Nope! He wants me to finally finish Dragon Age :) A friend was pushing me to play either Elden Ring or Skyrim and I chose Skyrim, mainly cause it finally released half off on GOG and I had always been interested in it.
@@leysaplays You've made the right choice!
To be fair, my PC is 7 years old and I doubt it could run Elden Ring on high settings. Which is what I'd want. So yes, definitely the right choice :)
Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion are the best in the series tbh, Skyrim is fine, but removed so much from what the elder scrolls use to be. Its a fun action adventure game but not the best TES
Let me guess, cause of lore/storytelling? That seems to be the sticking point for many people who have commented on this topic.
I had that over Everquest Next and look what happened 😄
I agree, each race should have a little somethin-somethin to make it feel more unique and not just a skin.
You are not very observant if you think she is playing with a gamepad, like not observant at all.
OHH a Wood Elf from EQ eh? Say hi to Tunare for me. ;)
Yay! You're the first to mention! Next time I visit Plane of Growth I'll tell her ;)
