The Epson LS800 is the brightest UST but it is unfortunately NOT 4K. Both the Awol and the LS800 use pixel-shifting but the Epson's resolution does not meet the CTA's 4K standard and therefore is not considered a 4K projector. The actual resolution is closer to 2K.
Hello Chris, i hope you read this. I love your videos because i am really into tech Gadgets. But I am sad to notice you don't really spend time interacting with your audience. I sent comments and never got feedback from you. I am still not able to find a solution for my OPTOMA UHD51A projector. It's stuck in a reboot look and never turn on properly. I really need ideas how to fix this. Your input will be highly appreciated as well as one anyone in the comment section who has experienced this and has been able to fix it. Thank you sooo much
Very glad I spotted this. Lots of videos today but this one made me decide to put on some big boy money for the LTV-3500. ALR screen will have to come later, and Formovie Fresnel ALR screen WILL be coming out in 120" in coming months, according to a question on their Amazon product page! Between both of these... perhaps the ultimate setup?
This very well be my next UST, with the 100" ALR screen as a package. I'm selling my house and the buyers wanted my current 120" screen and Hisense ust, so now I'm shopping for a new one.
I have the Awol LTV 2500 4k. Bought it back in November. It was on sale for the holidays. Got it for $2800. I purchased an Akia Cinewhite 125-inch screen. From Amazon for $225. I love it. It is in my dedicated home theater. With a 7.3.4 surroundsound. I'm still waiting on that Dolby Vision update. 🙄
It has all the feature that I want , but Im concerned about the brightness. Hows the image quality in a room with some ambient light, or does it need to be in complete darkness to match the image quality of the 3500.
Great review. I’m excited that the Ultra short throws are getting so nice! When I finished my theater build a few years ago, these were just catching on. Maybe my next upgrade will be one of these.
Awesome review as always, The AWOL LTV-3500 checks all the boxes. Brightness, HDR10+, Enhanced Contrast, 8ms for gaming, 107 Rec 2020, 3D and Film Maker Mode and soon DV. Wow!
@@buhidef I have a 70-80% dark theater room ( With black out curtains), and nights is fully dark at night. Currently have VAVA single Laser (Which i am 80% happy) but just wanna upgrade to DV and 3D (VAVA 3D Sucks) that's why i was debating on FORMOVIE or 2500 with DV/3D.
This seems like the best Jack of all trade UST. I won't be buying for another year. So, I'm excited for a new model that continues to improve on the foundation.
Thanks for your reviews Chris! So, considering I'm into watching 3D and HDR movies on a relatively dark ambient, which Laser TV would you recommend? Absolute best and best quality/price?
Question. I'm new to the thought of even trying to build a home theater. But the timing is perfect because we are currently building a home that will have a dedicated media room. The Media Room dimensions are about 15 1/2 ft wide, and half the room depth is 19'10" and the other half is 23ft, the ceiling is vaulted from 8ft to 10ft (highest point). Would you consider this a small theater room space? Also, do you think the room is big enough to house a 150" screen protector or bigger?
Great review on a UST that I have had my eye on for a long time, thanks Chris. Also it's great to hear that they have improved the black levels and input lag as this has been a couple of their shortcomings. I am on Team 3D and this seams to be the only option for an UST that will include Dolby Vision, at least eventually.
@@sunny4144 For practically any type of semi competitive or competitive scenarios with shooters and similar games above 30 is basically not doable. For casual sure that's fine. It's true very few people actually compete or stream on a 150 inch screen, but even with casual games it's nice to have fast response times.
Hi Chris, like always great review! can you share your thoughts on upgrading to Awol 3500 coming from LG hu80ka (you also reviewed here) will i feel big difference? thanx!
Chris, I have a BenQ W1070. Its got a 2000K AnSi lumens rating. The specs on the AWOL listed on the website indicate that the 2500 model reaches 2600 "peak" lumens. Some other reviews say that its equivalent to around 2K Ansi. This had me wondering if a 2K ANSI lumens Laser projector measures brighter than a lamp projector with the same ANSI lumens rating.
The ANSI lumen rating is a universal standard considering they way it's measured. Although the light source might affect the overall brightness, it doesn't change the ANSI lumen number. In other words, you can use ANSI lumens as a standard regardless of the light source. 2000 ANSI lumens from a laser projector is the same as 2000 ANSI lumens from a lamp.
Hi Chris can you please do a Video on a 4K Projector comparison that can go up to a 200 to 300 Inch Size for those of us who like to show Movies Outside and the Best Screens to use for it
Thank you very much. My home theater room is completely dark and there is no windows. Which projector you recommend for dark room since I will not use it in bright room.
Thanks for the video! Always love to hear your input on these devices. I would really like to know about the Optoma Cinemax D2. Very curious how it stacks up to these other UST projectors.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks for that, glad to know! Really looking forward to the release of the L9H and PX2 Pro from Hisense later this year as well. Keep up the great content!
Thanks for all the great reviews! excellent job. I have a question. I am going to set up setting up my outdoor movie theater. This will require bring the projector in and out for movie night. I am looking for the best solution for easy setup and hopefully be able to live with the on board speakers or an easy solution for a blue tooth add. I am leaning towards the Formovie as the price point for a occasional movie night use. I know I will have to change out my current movie screen to a pull down tension and am leaning to the Proslim line tension electric. I have a pool withing 10' of the wall so have to go with a short throw or ultra short throw projector. You thoughts are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance! again nice work. Good to see the effort you put into your work.
I'd go with the AWOL LTV-2500 versus the ForMovie because it has 3D, 4K, Dolby Vision, HDR-10+, HDR-10, and HLG formats with Adaptive Blackness, and I've seen it for under $2k on sale this year.
@@ChrisMajestic Fantastic. Missed that in the past! I was very salty. Oh, perhaps you could start mentioning what country the product is made in? Or, at least when the product is not made in china? Are there actually ANY projectors NOT made in China?
Great video Chris, I just bought this projector too. Could you please give me a hand and post your picture settings on user for day/night viewing please.
Chris, can you please rate fresnel screens. I may be wrong, but most of us are probally not going to use our projector in a dedicated theater room meaning the viewing angle should not be a problem. If you dont mind. Thx Chris! ps: I have found fscreen has a 120in Fresnel screen( if that helps).
Hi Chris thank you for your reviews. Here in the UK they just released the Jmgo n1 ultra Proyector has 4000 ANSI lumens, is no a UST Proyector , the price is way cheaper than the AWOL It seems pretty impressive and they say is a step ahead from its category I wonder if is worth don't have a UST and have a bit more of brightness also great specifications in a reasonable price. I hope you can do a review of this projector.
The limit of laser diode's brightness output is the same. How JMGO N1 with so smaller size can output 4000 ANSI lumens. This is definitely overstated, and not even a little bit.
Nice video. Very informative. Going to try and snag one this Thanksgiving (2024). Hopefully, the price will come down a tick. Fingers crossed. 3D critically important for me. Have over 105 blu ray 3D movies in my collection.
@v.maharaj3365 Did you buy the projector? I did. I'm also a huge 3D fan and bought it exactly for this reason. Unfortunately I am extremely disappointed. Compared to my previous 3D TV a Sony Bravia, the 3D picture quality is horrible! I'm so disappointed.
I’ve not previously owned a projector, but considering purchasing a UST. I noticed that the top of the picture doesn’t appear straight against the top edge of the screen… as someone with OCD I feel like this would annoy me to no end… I understand that you’re able to correct the image to a degree by its positioning and digitally, but even after all that is it common for USTs to have non-linear edges to the picture?
It takes a good amount of time to get the image lined up perfectly. I have to move the projector multiple times during the review process so I don't have time to get it perfect. It's certainly possible to line it up perfectly though.
Maybe wait a few years then. I’m still rocking an Epson from 2011 and besides a few hiccups with lamps dying every so often and ruining the 3D in certain movies after it’s dimmed I have no other real issues.
What is the brightest projector you have seen ever? Resolution doesn't matter. Want to use it as a light source for filming backgrounds so just looking for punch.
I have the Bomaker Polaris which is MUCH cheaper, true 4k with RGB lasers, and has the exact same remote as the one shown here in this video. Looks super similar but at 2500 lumens. I got the Bomaker after seeing it at a friend's house and we've both been very satisfied.
AWOL has just released an Advanced Black Level firmware update for the LTV-2500 and LTV-3500 which has more than doubled the original contrast ratio of the two projectors.
The 3500 looks to be about the same as the Samsung LSP9T with the current Black Level Upgrade. The Samsung does have one Advantage which is that it uses the larger TI 0.66 chip. Which gives it double the native resolution of the 0.47 chip that almost every other UST is using. It creates a super sharp image, but the only drawback is no 3D and it cannot be upgraded for that feature.
I absolutely love your channel, you're my favorite. I just bought this projector and I am extremely happy with it until it comes to one area, 3D. The 3D image is horrible! The picture is dark and dull with very poor color. Unfortunately for me, this is the number one reason I bought the projector. I'm a huge fan of 3D movies and since TV's no longer have this feature, projectors are my only option. I was hoping that the brightness of the 3500 would create a great 3D image, it doesn't. I'm obviously very disappointed.
I bought a cheap projector from Amazon and it's been working pretty good for me but about 6 months in and now I'm noticing a dark spot. Could only see it on the menu screen which is a bright blue.
I'm waiting to see the price and reviews of the Hisense L9H!. I want something bigger than my c1 83" and a 97" OLED is way over priced . 2.1 HDMI, Dolby vision , low input for gaming ,VRR,120hz and comes with a screen so the new hisense should be great !. I believe their 8k option is Europe only
I should have asked this question last time. Very few reviews out there for the LTV-2500. I understand that because of the increased color gamut of a triple laser that they would theoretically produce a better image than a single. But your eyes have seen! Would you rate the image from the 3rd-6th place triple lasers from the LTV shootout better than the winner, BenQ V7050i. Even though the lumens rating is higher on the BenQ, once Dolby vision is certified on the AWOL 2500, wouldn't that produce a higher quality image. I'm on a $3K budget for the best quality machine that produces 3D. I'm salivating over the Formovie, which is in the price range, but it was explained to me that upgrading it to 3D would require an OS change, not just a simple firmware upgrade. i.e it wont be happening anytime soon.
I'd go with the AWOL LTV-2500 versus the ForMovie because it now has Dolby Vision with 3D, 4K, HDR-10+, HDR-10, and HLG formats with Adaptive Blackness, and I've seen it for under $2k on sale this year.
@@TheSeabeeMan They beefed up the LTV-2500 with the new LTV-3000 which is coming out at the end of this month for $3K. Awol is offering pre-release discounts right now. But I'd like to see a review on it before I make a purchase.Thanks.
I'd go with the AWOL LTV-2500 and the 'Silver Ticket' Grey Screen or High Contrast Screen if my budget was $2500-$3000. I've done months worth of research and that's by far the best bang for the buck you're going to get.
The LS800 is brighter but it's not 4K so the Awol is significantly sharper. The Awol also has better input lag. The LS800 has slightly better color reproduction though.
How does a single laser that doesn't have rec2020 or RGB have better color reproduction? Dave Harper, your sponsors calibrater says that AWOL 3500 is the best he's ever seen it off the box and even better calibrated. I agree.
@@ChrisMajestic I just want something that is bright and 4K, this sounds like it just too $$$ right now. I bought the ForMovie Theater and it’s great at night but disappoint during the day even with most all the light 💡 controlled with shutters.
Great review!!! But I had a question, You said that this is the brightest 4k UST projector you reviewed. But didn’t you review the LS500 epson projector which had 4000 lumens ?
@@adikath7193 Triple laser vs the Epson's single blue lase makes the difference it seems. Now the Epson is not bad out of the box in standard mode, but Vivid mode looks far worse looking at the comparisons and reviews compared to the AWOL which is watchable in Vivid. Also because the Epson doesn't have any type of CMS settings you wouldn't even be a me to calibrate it anyways so I'm not really sure if "calibrated lumens" could even apply now that I think of it.
Although all of these projectors use pixel-shifting, neither the Epson LS500 or LS800 are 4K. They are marketed as "4K-Pro-UHD" but at best their resolution is closer to 2K (same as the Epson 5050ub). This is why you don't see them talk about native resolution in their marketing material. The Awol and most of the other 4K UST projectors I've reviewed also pixel shifting to display a native 4K resolution. Although they still can't produce a 1x1 pixel box, they meet the 4K certification standard and are significantly sharper than the Epsons. TLDR: The LS800 and LS500 do not meet the 4K certification standard and therefore are technically not 4k projectors.
Man that price is getting way up there. Really tough sell considering you can blow it out of the water in every category except size with the new QD OLEDs for cheaper.
If you're going with a 85 inch that's true but you can't get a 120 inch OLED, and if you did it would be way more than $5000. Even a 100 inch for that matter.
@@ChrisMajestic But you can get a TCL LED at 100 inches on sale at $5000 which will probably be comparable. A slight loss in size for a huge gain in brightness, VRR support, and better UI.
@@gnevos Yes I've been eyeing the TCL and although it's 100 inches for $5000 it doesn't have great image quality, it has a terrible viewing angle, and it's stuck at 100 inches. Most USTs can go up to 150 inches and you can change the image size very easily whenever you want. It's also portable so you can take it outside, to a different room, or a friends house. Now once the 100 inch TVs drop under $3500 then that will change the game.
@@ChrisMajestic Not to mention the power consumption that 100/120 inch oled tv's consumes, Laser projectors consume much less power, regardless of the screen size. Texas instruments announces a new DLP chip and promises deeper blacks, just like the new ALDP 5.0 from Appotronics that promises deeper blacks, higher light output, sharper pictuer, and consumes less power. The only problem with al those laser ust projectors i have, is the lack of HDMI ports, 4 or 5 HDMI ports in stead of only 3 ports. It would be nice to connect al these devices in one go for cable/satelite/DVB-T recievers, Playstation/X BOX, Fire stick, Apple tv/Nvidia Shield pro/ect., (3D) Blue ray players, Soundbars/Surround sound amplifiers.
At 3:07 claims to to be the brightest that he had reviewed on this channel and in the ls800 clip at 5:07 he measured it 4100 ansi lumens and he says in this video he thinks it’s the brightest. Seriously they will just say about anything to pitch these things. I’m so off by these influencers they just say out things to increase sales with no authenticity.
For that price, I think that most people would stick to the big 3 (Epson, Sony, JVC). They should have priced it around $3000 to be more competitive. I still would like to see how the Formovie projector would compare to the Sony xw5000.
@@BrillianceAutoSpa AWOL is the one that stands out for me because it has triple laser, its working on getting Dolby Vision certified and has 3D. But I'm not sure that the brightness on the LTV-2500 will be bright enough at 2000 lumens to give a solid 3D image in a darkened room. And my budget cant really justify paying an extra 2K just for more lumens. Lumens makes a difference in 3D since all projectors lower the brightness in that mode. Any thoughts?
@Bruce I personally have an Awol 2500 and I've already watched several movies in 3D. My loft has been converted into a theater Room so it's light controlled all the way around and the 2500 does in fact have enough lumens for a nice 3D experience. However, I know a 3500 would be even better. Fwiw, my Wife, and kids haven't complained that the image is too dim in 3D.
@@BrillianceAutoSpa I appreciate that Buddy. I have contacted Projector Screen/Central to gather a consensus on the 2500 model since neither posted a review for it. (For that matter, I dont see anyone reputable reviewing that machine) Although both companies gave general useful feed back, were polite and professional for most information, but I cant seem to get a straight answer about this particular model. I asked them to compare their highly rated single laser BenQ v7050i (500more lumens) to the triple laser AWOL LTV-2500 (expanded color and contrast range) for 3D images and overall quality. Both units are currently selling for $2300. They appear to be biased to their reviews, favoring the BenQ while talking around the direct comparison that I inquired about. Which seems to be somewhat of a cop out. Right Now I'm budget restricted to justify spending an extra $2K for the more desirable 3500 model> And even if I could, Im not sure that would be worth it.
There is another version of this projector called Awol2500. Lower the brightness less price it would be awesome if you reviewed that version. I believe that version is supposed to compare to the Formovie.
It's not outrageous but it's very expensive when you consider the fact that projectors like the Formovie, Benq V7050i, and Epson LS800 exist for less than $4000. I'm not saying it's not worth it, I'm just saying I think they could sell more units with a lower price.
I’ve had mine for a few months now. Fantastic projector although the latest update has introduced a slight curve in the picture which is noticeable when you have horizontal lines on the screen or a row of icons like the Apple TV Home Screen. Several people have reported this but so far AWOL have said nothing. 😤👎🏻
i'm sorry but i've got to say it again, these projectors are best when viewed in a dark room/home theater. none of them can beat a flat screen tv in the daytime and in a bright room!!
I use to think the same way but there is something about watching on a big screen. I have an ALR screen and some black out curtains so i can black out half of my windows closest to the screen and still have bunch of natural light coming into the room while reducing have a more than acceptable image. OLEDs are great for dark images but lets be honest.. most content consumed (outside of movies) are relatively bright....
with TCL releasing the 98inch TV and price seems to be going down every month now at 7700, it might be too late for these 100 to 120 inch projectors since having a projector is a lot more headache than having a TV, these UST needs to work on 300+ screens to compete with the TV like the VAVA, these 120's might be obsolete in a year or two
I mostly agree with you but it's far more complex than that. There are issues that come with very large TVs. Transporting them, mounting them, viewing angle, etc. Aside from screen assembly, UST projectors are fairly easy to install with a little bit of patience and the right kind of stand. And of course you have the ability to do a 150 inch screen that you can see from a very sharp angle from anywhere in the room. It's also portable and can be taken anywhere and setup within seconds if it's just projecting onto a wall. I really thought I'd be excited to see a reasonably priced 98 inch TV but when I consider how easy it's been to switch out these USTs when new models come out I think of the headache that would be involved to mounting, unmounting, storing, and transporting a massive TV.
@@ChrisMajestic Best buy Total Tech Support membership for $49 might do all of these lol, but i do see ur point but pricing of a 150inch ALR is crazy high
As a 3D fan, it is extremely irritating to see so little information out there. For future reference, we want to know: Is the projector 3D? Yes, you covered that. Does it display frame packing. Well, of course it does as that is Bluray 3D format. BUT... DOES IT DISPLAY FIELD SEQUENTIAL? DOES IT DISPLAY TOP AND BOTTOM? DOES IT DISPLAY SIDE BY SIDE? Does it accept 3D from a streaming device? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then any projector is just a piece of junk, regardless of how good it performs flat. Without 3D, no projector is in the running. I wouldn't accept such a piece of trash as a gift. As regards the AWOL, I am delighted to say that it does display all of these 3D formats. Please review 3D properly in future. Most reviewers skirt over over it almost as an unimportant afterthought when for us 3D enthusiasts, it is central to the buying criteria.
I agree... ... that if a projector does not have 3D then it is not in the running as an option to buy. And this is why I'm leaning toward buying the AWOL LTV-3500 when it goes on sale on black-Friday.
@TheSeabeeMan Did you buy the projector and if so what do you think of the 3D. I did and I am extremely disappointed in the image. Very dark, dull and lacking color. Compared to my previous Sony Bravia 3D TV, it's not even close.
NX7 is still one of the standards in projection it seems like. The Formovie gets close for a UST with 3000:1 contrast but the JVC is a whole level above that haha.
For FOMOVIE whatever is call , gonna wait for their NEXT generation, this fomovie NOT all that & they NOT there yet to make it shines they way they want it so to the consumer ..I'm gonna wait to see what's comes beside this Awol to knock my socks off & comparison , this one is ok & year still young
The Formovie seems best in a dedicated theater room. It has far better contrast than the top contenders like the Samsung for half the price. 3000:1. Definitely not as bright as the AWOL but then again it has a different market I feel.
Thank you for review. IMHO Looks like not good at all, not Fantastic. Bad black and white levels, do not have an integrated system, Chinese brand it means bad customer support, very expensive, still didn't update to Dolby vision. This year will expect a lot of high diagonal 100" TVs. Which will be much cheaper than projectors like this one. I'm willing to wait for the TV.
I'm sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the review. It's important to note that reviews are subjective and everyone has their own opinions and preferences. Regarding your concerns about the black and white levels, it's possible that the projector may not have performed as well in those areas. However, it's important to consider that projectors are typically designed for use in darker rooms and may require some calibration to achieve the best image quality. As for the lack of an integrated system, some projectors may require additional components such as a sound system or media player. However, this can also provide flexibility in choosing the best components for your specific needs. Regarding your comment about Chinese brands and customer support, it's important to note that many Chinese brands have gained a reputation for producing high-quality products at competitive prices. Customer support can vary depending on the brand, but many offer comprehensive support options. In terms of price, projectors can be expensive compared to TVs, but they also offer a larger viewing experience that can be more immersive. It's also worth noting that prices for high diagonal 100" TVs are still relatively high compared to smaller-sized TVs. Lastly, Dolby Vision is a relatively new technology, and not all projectors may support it yet. However, many projectors offer other high-quality image technologies such as HDR10, which can still provide an excellent viewing experience. Ultimately, the decision to wait for a high diagonal 100" TV or purchase a projector is a personal one and depends on individual preferences and needs.
well it's still a cheap chinese projector, will not touch even with a barge pole unlless they give 6 years warranty, Epson,Optoma and others give 6 years warranty, this one give 12 months + another 12 months extended warranty you need to pay, its a Chinese knockoff and cant trust, all these youtubers get money or free projector for review, Never trust them,,,alll xngmi awol are rubbish in quality
@tantlad9528 Well I just bought one so I hope this is not the case. When you say this is just a cheap Chinese knockoff, what does that really mean. Everything is made in China now. How is this any different?

Hi Chris, like always great review! can you share your thoughts on upgrading to Awol 3500 coming from LG hu80ka (you also reviewed here) will i feel big difference? thanx!
Please review awol 3500 pro new model vs formovie
great vid as usual, does the advanced black setting make a significant difference or will the bars always be dark grey?..cheers
Brighter and Sharper than Formovie Home theater in your video?
Hi Chris. What projector screen do you recommend with the Awol LTV350?
Thank you for the great reviews.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks Bruh!
Hey Chris are you going to do a review of your Favorite Home Theater Projector for 2022 that isn't short throw projector?!?!
Hi Chris can you please do a Video on a 4K Projector comparison that can go up to a 200 to 300 Inch Size for those of us who like to show Movies Outside and the Best Screens to use for it
I'll have some upcoming videos for this
Just picked one of these up with a 120 vivid storm motorized screen and samsung beam 2 for $1500 total. Fantastic buy
Thank you for the post!!!
How compare with Optoma UHZ 65?

If you need 3D ..
Only if you absolutely needed low input lag or 3D.

My home theater room is completely dark and there is no windows.
Which projector you recommend for dark room since I will not use it in bright room.
Awesome video, making a dedicaed movie room. No windows which would it be the projector that you recommend? short throw or standard?
Thanks for the video! Always love to hear your input on these devices. I would really like to know about the Optoma Cinemax D2. Very curious how it stacks up to these other UST projectors.
I was not a big fan of the color reproduction and contrast from the Optoma D2.

AWOL LTV-3500 Pro, FORMOVIE, LG HU915 which you choose and why?
Hi! What do you think about the Casiris A6?
I've been waiting on this video
Clear and precise presentation thank you.
Why do the black colors seem really faded?
How does it compare to the LS800? (sharpness, picture, contrast) I'm sure a lot of people are cross shopping the two, whether it's 4k or not.
How would you compare the image quality to EPSON LS12000
Hey! Finally, you covered fan noise. Nice
I mention fan noise right after I talk about speakers in almost every projector review 😉
@@ChrisMajestic Fantastic. Missed that in the past! I was very salty. Oh, perhaps you could start mentioning what country the product is made in? Or, at least when the product is not made in china? Are there actually ANY projectors NOT made in China?
How to calculate the minimum brightnes and contrast ratio required as per the room and screen dimensions??what is the criteria??
Congrats on the t-shirt!!!!!🤟🤟🤟
Great video Chris, I just bought this projector too. Could you please give me a hand and post your picture settings on user for day/night viewing please.
Hey chris, Awol ltv2500 or Benq HT4550?
How to calculate the minmum and maximum screen size for a room??
Do you buy all your projectors outright?
Was this a loaner for a review?
Did they give it to you?
What's the cheapest 1080p short throw projectors you'd recommend? Also can you adjust screen size with short throw since it's so close to the wall?
Chris, can you please rate fresnel screens. I may be wrong, but most of us are probally not going to use our projector in a dedicated theater room meaning the viewing angle should not be a problem. If you dont mind. Thx Chris! ps: I have found fscreen has a 120in Fresnel screen( if that helps).
Which UST projectors do you find to be the quietest? I hate fan noise.
@@Leo-qy2hi I agree and still no Dolby vision.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks, Chris - appreciate the response!

I've gotten away from reviewing budget projectors but I will be reviewing more budget-friendly products very soon.
I have the Bomaker Polaris which is MUCH cheaper, true 4k with RGB lasers, and has the exact same remote as the one shown here in this video. Looks super similar but at 2500 lumens. I got the Bomaker after seeing it at a friend's house and we've both been very satisfied.
Would this projector be good for projecting a golf simulator onto a screen 90” high and 96” wide?
Only if you have a way to protect the projector. One thin shot and there goes $5.5k. A rear projection unit would make the most sense for a golf sim.
It's not an awol but I got the vava 4k (pixel shifter) for $900 an alr "100 for $450. Beautiful, crisp, and amazing in day time. 😊
How does this or the 2500 compare to the Samsung LSP9t in Black Level performance?
123 inch UST screen and light controlled room.
Thanks
The black levels are very similar between these 2. Almost the same according to my measurements.
I haven’t measured the 2500 though
AWOL has just released an Advanced Black Level firmware update for the LTV-2500 and LTV-3500 which has more than doubled the original contrast ratio of the two projectors.
The 3500 looks to be about the same as the Samsung LSP9T with the current Black Level Upgrade.
The Samsung does have one Advantage which is that it uses the larger TI 0.66 chip.
Which gives it double the native resolution of the 0.47 chip that almost every other UST is using. It creates a super sharp image, but the only drawback is no 3D and it cannot be upgraded for that feature.
Any word on New Samsung 8K UST Projector. The most recent promised
Looking to go 150 inches. This or the Epson LS12000?? Thx!
the LS12000 is fairly unmatched compared to most USTs, especially in a dark room
Will it last a long time tho? Is the company and products durable for the long run?
I bought a cheap projector from Amazon and it's been working pretty good for me but about 6 months in and now I'm noticing a dark spot. Could only see it on the menu screen which is a bright blue.
I'm waiting to see the price and reviews of the Hisense L9H!. I want something bigger than my c1 83" and a 97" OLED is way over priced . 2.1 HDMI, Dolby vision , low input for gaming ,VRR,120hz and comes with a screen so the new hisense should be great !. I believe their 8k option is Europe only
Is hdr affect bandwidth of a 4k signal??
Will not
I should have asked this question last time.
But I'd like to see a review on it before I make a purchase.Thanks.
hi! can awol 3500 projects 2:4:1 aspect ratio instead of 16:9?
It's not a native ratio but it'll definitely play it no problem, just have the black bars which shouldn't be noticeable after the update.
Hi Chris
Please can you help me
I looking for a best 4k projector has a good balanced in darkness and accuracy and brightness( between 2500$-3000$)
I'd go with the AWOL LTV-2500 and the 'Silver Ticket' Grey Screen or High Contrast Screen if my budget was $2500-$3000. I've done months worth of research and that's by far the best bang for the buck you're going to get.
$5500 ouch. Wonder about this compared to the Epson LS800?
The LS800 is brighter but it's not 4K so the Awol is significantly sharper. The Awol also has better input lag. The LS800 has slightly better color reproduction though.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks 🙏🏻 Chris good to know. Guess I’ll wait until something like this gets closer to $3k
Once calibrated I don't think it's as bright.
4,000 lumens probably in Vivid mode. Definitely not after calibration.
Wouldn’t the same apply here as well? 3500 lumens only in some picture modes not the more accurate ones…
Great Review
Great ust but for the price with no screen I think I'll stick with foremovie
You can buy a screen with it
Man that price is getting way up there.
@@gnevos No 3D support on TCL.

The LS800 is not 4K. Marketed as such but it is not.
For that price, I think that most people would stick to the big 3 (Epson, Sony, JVC). They should have priced it around $3000 to be more competitive. I still would like to see how the Formovie projector would compare to the Sony xw5000.
I would get the Formovie if it had 3D. I've been harassing them about a 3D firmware update for months. They stopped answering my emails.😬
AWOL is better than all the top three. AWOL is a real underdog that punches above its weight.
This isn't the brightest projector you reviewed since you reviewed the Epson LS-800 which is at 4100 lumens
The Epson is in fact not 4K. ;) It's 2k but marketed as 4K
So what's your pick out of the two?
EPSON LS-800 ISO 400 lumen and 3200 ANSI lumen
The Shield is a million times better than any Firestick, that's for sure.
Respect for that.
Why? I'm just curious.
There is another version of this projector called Awol2500. Lower the brightness less price it would be awesome if you reviewed that version. I believe that version is supposed to compare to the Formovie.
There is also an AWOL 2500 Pro that gets real 2600 lumens u like the 2500 that gets you around 2000

$5,500 isn't outrageous considering how a few years ago a Sony 85 inch LED LCD 4K TV would cost at least $5,000 and have no 3D support.
It's not outrageous but it's very expensive when you consider the fact that projectors like the Formovie, Benq V7050i, and Epson LS800 exist for less than $4000. I'm not saying it's not worth it, I'm just saying I think they could sell more units with a lower price.

i'm sorry but i've got to say it again, these projectors are best when viewed in a dark room/home theater.
none of them can beat a flat screen tv in the daytime and in a bright room!!
I use to think the same way but there is something about watching on a big screen. I have an ALR screen and some black out curtains so i can black out half of my windows closest to the screen and still have bunch of natural light coming into the room while reducing have a more than acceptable image. OLEDs are great for dark images but lets be honest.. most content consumed (outside of movies) are relatively bright....
with TCL releasing the 98inch TV and price seems to be going down every month now at 7700, it might be too late for these 100 to 120 inch projectors since having a projector is a lot more headache than having a TV, these UST needs to work on 300+ screens to compete with the TV like the VAVA, these 120's might be obsolete in a year or two
No they don't
People are barely scratching the surface with uts and screens
Woooo 3D support!!
I bought this projector specifically for its 3D. Unfortunately it is not very good.
Great review that thing is way too expensive
As a 3D fan, it is extremely irritating to see so little information out there.
For future reference, we want to know:
Is the projector 3D?
Nice breakdown but still staying in my bat cave with JVC 2000. Movie fan who demands inky blacks that UST lack
Basically just go broke n get this😂😂😂
Thank you for review.
He is just making advertisements for the product. Don't take it personal
well it's still a cheap chinese projector, will not touch even with a barge pole unlless they give 6 years warranty, Epson,Optoma and others give 6 years warranty, this one give 12 months + another 12 months extended warranty you need to pay, its a Chinese knockoff and cant trust, all these youtubers get money or free projector for review, Never trust them,,,alll xngmi awol are rubbish in quality
Optoma is even worse with having dead pixels and epson with dust blobs
@tantlad9528 Well I just bought one so I hope this is not the case. When you say this is just a cheap Chinese knockoff, what does that really mean. Everything is made in China now. How is this any different?
