  • Agave is a liquid sweetener extracted from a plant. It has a low glycemic index, which means it doesn’t spike your blood sugar, so why would I say it is not an acceptable sugar substitute?
    I explain in this video.
    In the video, you’ll learn...
    *how processing destroys the nutrient value of agave
    *why the type of sugar found in agave makes it unhealthy
    *my recommendation in regards to all sugar substitutes

    I'm doing a bit of research... I have switched to alternative sweeteners because I find it helps me stick to the low carb eating... I want to be healthy, but I think a balance is better for me. I have 5-10 pounds to go.. it's very slow right now, but I intend to encorporate a few carb up days and agave ( because I do think it's better than refined sugar), some unrefined local honey, and Coconut or brown sugar substitutes in my pantry. To be able to maintain my weight and be healthy while not obsessing about food is what I'm working toward. I've really loved these sweetener clips.. knowledge is power.

    Americans and Canadians are addicted to “sweet”. I noticed the differences in “sweet” preferences, when returning to my natal home in Europe, for visits. Even imported products - either from the US/Canada to Europe or from Europe to the US/Canada - are sweetened differently. The products in or going to Europe are LESS SWEET, than those in or going to the US/Canada. Luckily for me, despite immigrating to the US (and also briefly living in Canada), I have retained the “European preference “ for less sweet foods. Therefore it’s easy for me to avoid any overly sweet foods and the urge to add sweeteners. If I am recreating a recipe that requires sweeteners, I often reduce the amount or if it asked for a small amount, I may totally leave it out. (Swerve and Liquid Sweetleaf are my go to sweeteners, if I must add any.)

    When I grew up, doctors pushed a food pyramid that put an emphasis on carbs being the number one component of a well rounded diet. That turned out to be completely incorrect. Why should we trust you, and what’s to say you don’t have an underlying agenda? How about this, eat what you enjoy in moderation.

    Remember that even though it is not a health food, doesn't make it bad. Because it is a survival food.
    When in the desert or lost you want those sugars. And you want the calories. It does its job where it is needed. There is a misconception there.

    • @myyoutubechannel3161
      @myyoutubechannel3161 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Fructose comes from fruits..
      High Fructose corn syrup comes from corn 🌽 which I know that's bad, but u think agave is natural sugar and the body takes it in a different way.. then regular table sugar or artificial sweeteners.

    • @Draconamous
      @Draconamous ปีที่แล้ว

      @myyoutubechannel3161 regular table sugar sure because there are other chemicals there from the bleaching cycle. But honestly sugar is sugar. It all gets processed in a similar in your body.
      Doesn't make it bad, in fact it is a good thing if you don't overload on it like with sodas. Works with carbs and proteins to give energy.
