@the truth I think it depends on the question, really. But what I did was I chose two positive points for my argument and just explained those in two paragraphs and that was all. Just introduction, two pro paragraphs, conclusion and voilà!
@the truth My advice is just to write clearly and try to be clear with what you want to say, instead of making it complicated or trying to show off your vocabulary or grammer.

I really liked your way of teaching. While others teach to think of complex things, sentence structures and fancy vocabulary, you just focus on readability of the essay, which in my opinion, is just perfect!
I've just scored band 6 in Writing and I even don't know the reason why. Fortunately, after I watch this valuable video I realize I did the wrong things about IELTS. I had memorized too many fancy vocabularies and followed complex templates that my Vietnamese teacher had given me before the test. Thanks very much for helping me know my mistakes so that I can prepare and sit for the IELTS exam 3 months later.

Hi... I'd like to say thank you. Did my IELTS on July 22nd in Irvine. I must say, I didn't take it seriously since English is my second language in the Philippines. But then, as the day of the examination came closer, I became anxious. I know people attend reviews for this, and so I got curious. To my surprise upon viewing the sample exams on the site, I became more anxious. And didn't know where to start. And so, I made sure to allot 3 hours of my free-time listening to your videos and taking sample tests on YT for reading and listening with just 1 week left. And your videos provided the most insightful tips amongst all tutorials I've searched. And so I took the exam with all the hints that I got from you. In the end, my score wasn't bad. Got an average of 7.5, with listening:8.5, speaking: 8, Reading:7.5 and writing:7. I still don't know why i only got 7 in writing, but Somehow, i blame it to my penmanship, which I believe is unreadable 😅 I haven't practiced on writing legibly, worse, being a doctor made me neglect it even more. If ever I'd be retaking it, I'd still go back to your channel. Please keep on helping people. More power!
Most of what you said is true, I got a band 6.0 in writing in my initial attempt, but scored more than 8 in other sections. Everything you said makes sense, I am so glad to have found this channel. I hope it helps me get a 7 in my next attempt.

Never seen someone to explain this particular thing so deeply. Even last year i appeared on ielts my overall was 7 but in writing it was a 6! Hope now i can find flaws by thinking deeply and following these instructions.

Just wanted to say thank you for providing quality, free and reliable information to everyone. I'm a native speaker but i was struggling with the writing and listening sections of IELTs. I had booked the test while being completely ignorant of everything related to IELTS then I procrastinated until i have two weeks before the exam date. Only had a couple hours each day after to watch videos and prepare. In such short time, i did not have the time to just practice, I had was to 'perfect my practice' quickly. In the end I only got the chance to practice writing three essays each for task 1 & 2, and do 6 listening test, but with the implementation of most of the strategies you taught on your blog and on youtube, I was able to get the desired listening & writing scores and an band 8 all together. @@Ieltsadvantage So here is a little update on my situation since then: TLDR: I've just got my results and it's not something extraordinary, got 7.5 overall and I'm happy with that. Long Version: All IELTS exams got cancelled in my home country for an unforeseeable amount of time, including my exam. So I had to take it in another country, and I got only one chance, without any mock tests or any other educational materials except IELTS Advantage. So I decided to do everything as Chris says and apply it as much as possible. Because I had no money to ask professionals to correct my writings, I turned to ChatGPT, and again, because I had nobody to practice listening with, I tried listening to podcasts a little and repeating their transcripts for myself. due to university deadlines, I had to shorten my study time, so there was only a month worth of IELTS preparations for me. On the exam day, I got a little distracted and messed up with the listening part, but in the end, it wasn't that bad. Thanks to this great guy and other people who work with him [unfortunately don't know their names], I got what I wanted, and now I am applying for universities without any worries related to the IELTS score. You can really trust this guy and rest assured that everything will turn out as you hope. Thank you, Chris. Really.

This video is important for me! I think the main problem in my ielts writing is the Fluency and Coherence, because I don't spend time to think, and therefore i generate rubbish ideas which failed me.

Thanks for this - I did zero preparation for my previous test and really struggled during this part of the test. I achieved a 7.5 but need an 8.0+ and having watched this video now i can see exactly where i went wrong. No prep time, generic 'in the modern world' introduction, sat on the fence with my opinion, and a very weak conclusion. Thanks for all your videos! They really really helped, and I ended up with an overall band 8.5 and R 9 L 9 W 7.5 S 8.5, so I’m quite happy! (Even if I’m slightly salty about not getting slightly higher for writing, since if it was 0.5 higher then I could have had an overall 9 hhh) I’m used to writing informally, so I had a lot of trouble with tone and succinctness in both task 1 and 2, but I managed :DDD Your speaking videos helped, too! I was getting predicted 7.5 because I was speaking so fast I tripped over my words, but watching your videos the night before the test really helped calm me

I can't find the exact video but ielts advantage saved me for my writing section. I found your video the night before my exam and I remember somewhere you said start task 2 before task 1....that alone was the game changer... Just wanted to say thank you for providing quality, free and reliable information to everyone. I'm a native speaker but i was struggling with the writing and listening sections of IELTs. I had booked the test while being completely ignorant of everything related to IELTS then I procrastinated until i have two weeks before the exam date. Only had a couple hours each day after to watch videos and prepare. In such short time, i did not have the time to just practice, I had was to 'perfect my practice' quickly. In the end I only got the chance to practice writing three essays each for task 1 & 2, and do 6 listening test, but with the implementation of most of the strategies you taught on your blog and on youtube, I was able to get the desired listening & writing scores and an band 8 all together. Thanks a million!!!

Hello, I wanted to let you know how much this helped me . i found this video one week prior to my IELTS exam and then all so enrolled in the 5-day challenge (although I only god to watch the videos and only 2 of the tasks).I got an 8 for writing which is absolutely unbelievable. The highest score I had ever gotten before that for writing was 6! Honestly, I think I was making it too complicated, and your videos made me realize that thank you so much,

TLDR: I've just got my results and it's not something extraordinary, got 7.5 overall and I'm happy with that.
Long Version: All IELTS exams got cancelled in my home country for an unforeseeable amount of time, including my exam. So I had to take it in another country, and I got only one chance, without any mock tests or any other educational materials except IELTS Advantage. So I decided to do everything as Chris says and apply it as much as possible. Because I had no money to ask professionals to correct my writings, I turned to ChatGPT, and again, because I had nobody to practice listening with, I tried listening to podcasts a little and repeating their transcripts for myself. due to university deadlines, I had to shorten my study time, so there was only a month worth of IELTS preparations for me.
On the exam day, I got a little distracted and messed up with the listening part, but in the end, it wasn't that bad.
Thanks to this great guy and other people who work with him [unfortunately don't know their names], I got what I wanted, and now I am applying for universities without any worries related to the IELTS score.
You can really trust this guy and rest assured that everything will turn out as you hope.

youree band 5-6 essay are the one i used to write in middle school and highschool, and man i used to get good marks and the essays i wrote looked a little tangy n playful.

I was awestruck to find out I scored above 7 bands in writing, just by following your tips! 8.0 in Listening, 8.5 in Reading and a 7.5 in Speaking. Not a single individual score is below 7.0 band. Guys, just follow what this guy tells you! He knows what he's talking about. Thank you so much! Appreciate the effort!

Thanks for this - I did zero preparation for my previous test and really struggled during this part of the test. I achieved a 7.5 but need an 8.0+ and having watched this video now i can see exactly where i went wrong. No prep time, generic 'in the modern world' introduction, sat on the fence with my opinion, and a very weak conclusion.

Thanks for all your videos! They really really helped, and I ended up with an overall band 8.5 and R 9 L 9 W 7.5 S 8.5, so I’m quite happy! (Even if I’m slightly salty about not getting slightly higher for writing, since if it was 0.5 higher then I could have had an overall 9 hhh)
I’m used to writing informally, so I had a lot of trouble with tone and succinctness in both task 1 and 2, but I managed :DDD
Your speaking videos helped, too! I was getting predicted 7.5 because I was speaking so fast I tripped over my words, but watching your videos the night before the test really helped calm me

You really cleared up a lot of concepts for me(especially the fact that you need an overview for task 1, almost missed that and got limited at band 5), though I’m still surprised they gave me as high as they did, considering I couldn’t finish like half of task 1. (Time ran out in the middle of my first details paragraph.)
