I must quote Sir Winston Churhill "Italians lose wars as if they were football matches, and football matches as if they were wars".

as an Italian, a Nanowar and a Sabaton fan, this song is basically Christmas, Easter, and my own birthday gift all wrapped into one! ahahah
I would have loved to see Joakim's reaction to Nanowar's pitch..
"so... we're doing a dead on parody of your songs, on the 1994 world cup final. Care to join us?" ahahha

As an Italian i feel i need to clarify: it was a war, you can bet that we stand behind our team anytime during a football match. Not as much during an actual military fight, then we have about 60 million different ideas on how we should behave.
I still fight off tears listening to a parody song even if it's likely the 100th time I listen to this

I remember that World Cup in '94 even though I loved Romario (from from what he and Michael Laudrup) did for Barcalona, I was rooting for Italy in that match, and I remember being very impressed by the Italien defence.

This song is a parody to both Sabaton and World Cup 1994, hence the military theme (also several references to Sabaton songs, like Castel Sant'Angelo). Having Joakim in a song that is a parody to his own band is just pure brilliance, when I first heard it I was in tears 🤣 Great song too, they nailed the Sabaton sound 😃

It's a tribute to Sabaton who sing about war themes. And their singer is part of this (in the booth).

Great reaction! The fact that they compared the FIFA World Cup final from 1994 to war, at the same time made a funny tribute to several Sabaton songs and Joakim Broden starring/singing in it is just brilliant!! 🤘🤩
Btw, Sweden came on 3rd place and were welcomed home as heroes 🇸🇪. It was party on the streets! 😃

I've just only now noticed "MIC SHINODA". Brilliant :D
The lyrics during the penalty shoot-out is about various historical events. North Korea-Japan (recent) tensions, Vietnam war, Nazis invasion of Belgium and France (outflanking the Maginot Line), attack on the Turkish Gallipoli peninsula during WWI, and of course Waterloo

And the thing with the football they're saluting in the end? That's Ciao, the mascot for the WC in Italy 1990. Where Italy finished third, after beating England 2 to 1. The final was played between Germany and Argentina. Germany won 1-0

As an American Pasadena is best known for the Rose Parade on New Years day and a college bowl game of American football same day. NB the parade is never held on a Sunday it was on Jan 2 this year.

I think the war jokes might originate from the fact the name "Pasadena" vaguely sounds like "Passchendaele"; the battle of Passchendaele was one of the great battles fought in the first world war. Sabaton typically does war stories in their songs, so they parodied that with this football match song in Sabaton style.
