Best Sabaton song not written by Sabaton! Nanowar of Steel are always hilarious and this song is extra funny for me as a Sabaton fan and a football fan.
It is actually not the first time Joakim sings about football. Sabaton did a cover of a swedish song about football quite some time ago called "Långa bollar på Bengt" The song is a first person view of being in a team where the coaches son Bengt is playing forward and the rest of the team get only one direction from the coach, pass the ball to Bengt.
The mastermind of the band also said in an interview that this song is the most serious song in their album, no jokes about this. That's how much the Italians feel about this match. :D
On a side note, Sweden got bronze-94.Our country celebrated for months or maybe years for that 3rd place, fml I still get goosebumps thinking about it haha.Js,thats how important that sport is in every part of the world but here in the US where I live now.Great reaction as always.Hugs from a Swede in Nashville ❤
Thanks to a great team, and a little also to Brolin's coach at Parla Calcio, Nevio Scala, who lent the scheme of a free kick, leading to a beautiful goal.
The "original song" is "The Last Stand" that was in Rome....and the italian national team is fighting in final match! Castel Sant' Angelo is mentioned in this song too. All the historical facts in the penalty kiks when itlians makes goal are won battles but lost wars (or not totally won...).
They don’t sing about football so much, the only other one that I have in mind is “The Lord of The Rings of the Stadium” where they use Stadium Chants to describe some aspects of the Book. It’s in Italian and it’s a strange mix, as often they do, of the nerd culture and the football fun culture (historically separated from each other). The video has subtitles but I don’t know if the references are understandable for non Italian speakers. Anyway I think that you beautifully summarised the main point of this video, and appreciated the intricacies and detail oriented approach of this “strange” musicians. If you want to enter the rabbit hole, there are toughest one to comment (comes to mind Disco Metal), because sometimes the references are too many and so specific that it is really difficult to catch them all, to the point to become “cryptic”. I saw them live this year, I like to underline that they are also very good musicians, not just a comedy band. Their show was outstanding.
I actually had a paramedic use the "major spray" on me when I raced stock cars. I had a small crash and the wheel got knocked out of my hand, dislocating my thumb. The paramedic took out a spray can and liberally coated my hand. Really cold stuff, didn't help at all.
I had the joy last year of seeing NoS live...one week after seeing Sabaton live! Total contrast in scale/budget/tone, but both very enjoyable. This is one of my favourites, despite having less interest in football than you. They capture the "Sabatonity" perfectly, right down to the keychange near the end.
The magic spray is a coolant which numbs you to the pain for a bit. I have no idea why it's just popular in one sport, but I guess it avoids doping issues.
yea, you win always in handegg. and it's called world champions. Funny. Here in Finland we always win in nestball bc for same reason. Nobody gives a fuck about that/those. Football all games are really big and biggest is ofc world cup.
no, you're not allowed to say it just because you're american. very arrogant approach on your part, I must say. I don't call you Iric cause that's not your name
Still waiting for the Sabaton History Channel episode for this epic battle...
Italians lose wars as if they were football matches, and football matches as if they were wars - Winston Churchill
Only italians can think of something likes this.. and being an Italian i can relate a lot..

Nanowar of Steel is the Weird Al of metal, and I am here for it.
Joakim is such a good sport, willing to poke fun at himself and his band.
They changed the name of the real Maurizio Mosca to Maurizio Kyev, I think that was a nice touch.
True, a better fit for a loser, at that.

Napalm Records never lets me down, even with comedy.⚽ Straight 🔥.
Fun fact, Joakim, and Sabaton, are from Sweden, and Sweden got third place that World Cup. A lot of people miss this detail 😂
Nanowar of steel said that as you say this is the only serious track they made (and they are right, for us italian that final is a battle lost)

The craziest italian metal band 🤘🇮🇹😎
Outstanding song, love this band and Sabaton so this was a dream come true for me.
So hilarious and great! Love it 😆

You should definitely go through the Nanowar of Steel rabbithole. I would suggest Valhalleluja and Norwegian Reaggeton next.

Nanowar of Steel is such a dopamine band :D

For The Money!!! Metal Boomer Battalion 4 Life 🤘
I love how Joakim barely can keep a strait face.
