- The inclusion of Ninja Turtles characters I was unfamiliar with in the SNES version of TMNT: Tournament Fighters led me to look up a lot of info about the characters. However, when I looked for more info about the character Aska, I found that she was allegedly created as an original character for the game. But in a Tournament Fighters beta, she is named Mitsu, which might reveal abandoned plans for the Ninja Turtles series as a whole.

Huh Im early, Well Hi everyone!
I really wish they would make another movie similar to the first that focused more on the organized crime aspect of The Foot. I believe it would make an amazing series of movies that could target the older audience instead of 6 year olds. Don't get me wrong I still believe 6 year olds should enjoy Ninja Turtles also but I wish it would do what Batman has done by giving more mature audiences great movies also.

Konami did love sticking in all-new characters in their licensed games at the time, the NES port of the Ninja Turtles arcade game has a polar bear boss on the new ice level, who never appeared anywhere else in the TMNT universe.
and the arcade game Wild West CowBoys of Moo Mesa has fourth protagonist who doesn't exist anywhere else just so they could throw the game into their other 4-player cabinets.

There was a live action show called "The Next Mutation" with a female turtle named "Venus"... You don't see her around these days if you counted the live action stuff in their "universe"
It is said that you just dont mention her around Laird and Eastman. Not even as a joke. Venus does not exist to them.

I thought you where going to talk about Venus de Milo the female ninja turtle that mysteriously disappeared after that god awful live action tv show. You never saw or really heard about after her after that.
She disappeared because one of the creators, Eastman I think, absolutely hated her. I believe he said as long as he could draw a breath she would never make another appearance.
Shawn Conder It was actually Peter Laird who hated her. He refused to bring her back in any form. I believe that Kevin Eastman also did not like her, but he didn’t have as much of a problem with her.
Think she was mentioned in a couple comics and showed up one time in some random stuff, but nothing Eastman and Laird had a personal hand in.
that show was awesome, & was #1 when it got cancelled. the only bad thing about it were the villains.
Only other time I can recall Venus ever being mentioned was actually in Robot Chicken where in a "where are they now?" parody about "old girl toys" from the 80s and 90s they said "the lesser known Ninja Turtle Venus de Milo was found dead, having drowned herself in a toilet."
Generally speaking, story is the last thing finalized in videogames.
Particularly true for most fighting games. Fighers are chosen, animated, implemented, and tuned, while the story is being developed... and then usually the story is just thrown in on top of the actual fighting engine at the end... or during development, but usually changed frequently as the game progresses. Due to the fact that the story is more likely to be subservient to the mechanics than the mechanics are to the story, the story ends up being the last thing to get a "finished" stamp. Some games are built story first, but most (including most RPGs) aren't.
Which is, incidentally, why a lot of aspiring game developers fail to finish games. They have a great story they want to tell, not a great game they want to make.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who was thrown for a complete loop with Karai. I would eventually end up loving the character when I saw her in the 2003 TMNT series.

That was what I thought too, she had the light blue bandana. That show also did a cross over with the Power Rangers.
The next mutation is what really wrecked the series not TMNT 3 the movie.
Venus was well not bad her only weapon was smoke bombs and mystic shinobi magic.
The bullshit of the late 90's replaces Mikey's nunchaku with a pair of tonfa because nunchaku were used by violent street gangs and illegal in New York.
The replace Leo's double katanas with a single ninjato, the bad guy line up was not bad after they got rid of shredder by having Venus use her mystical power to turn shredder back into oraku saki and he becomes ashamed of his actions.
Funny show that killed the series, now the revitalized cartoon on Nickelodeon has them with even more different weapons and April is now a younger black teenager.
Let's not forget Ralph's girl friend, Mona Lisa the lizard girl..

Am I misremembering? Wasn't Karai a character in the 1980s TMNT cartoon? I recall her being an adversary and a love interest to Leo. I specifically remember her wearing a cape.
I could be wrong, but I think that was her first appearance.

The cartoon had a character who went by the alias of White Lotus. She predates Karai and may have been the inspiration for her.

I wondered what turtles on a half shell was when i was little. When my mom told me it was a French dish i cried because people were eating my ninja turtles.
I've always wondered what that phrase meant... so TIL & that saddens me & I'm 34. I love TMNT.
Well to be fair, Shredder loves to threaten to dine on turtle soup. So I already knew that was a thing.

To this day something about the TMNT has always stuck with me. Same for Ghostbusters. I dunno if it was just the impressive corporate advertising to children surrounding those franchises or what, but even if so, I don't care. The movies were dope, the cartoons were dope, and the toys were dope.

The term "half shell" comes from seafood. If I recall, the Turtle suits and puppetry were a step down from the first 2 movies as well.
I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out with. I thought it was a diversion, but a cool one. I really did like it. It was just probably to late for it to make the impact they wanted.
I too saw it in theatre when it came out. The summer club/pool we swam for had a mall right across the street and we’d basically just go movie hop during those long summer days in the early 90s on days we were tired of the pool.
I was a 2000s kid but I was obsessed with TMNT because of the 2k3 series. I was so obsessed that I consumed every iteration of the turtles, including the 1987 show, the live action movies, the live action show, and plenty of toys. I had knowledge of the comics but didn't read them much. However, when I would watch the movies (usually back to back), I'd notice that the third movie was of lower quality than the other two. For the longest time the second movie was my favorite but as I got older I started to prefer the first one. I may not be an 80s baby but I sure did love the ninja turtles as if I were one.
I remember when they advertised it for the theaters but the movie bored me as a kid. Even bringing Casey Jones back didnt help the movie. It was this movie where I got to learn of the song Tarzan Boy (it plays during the bar scene with the samurai dancing)
The third movie was easily the worst of the trilogy.

Karai is a major character in the 2012 cartoon, she starts off as a foot clan general- and becomes a sort of honorary turtle member which an odd relationship to the 4, particularly Leo, which she is a love interest. In the cartoon it is established she is shredders daughter, but soon revealed to actually be splinter's daughter.
Usagi Yojimbo was the coolest in the TMNT universe. I was a Mirage TMNT fan, and very surprised Whang never said Krang / Rocksteady / Bepop throughout the whole vlog

@@KingRumar yeah, I agree but at the time I didn't even know of the comics. So the 80s cartoon for me was the Turtles. Only much later did I find out about the comics, and I realy like the 2003 seriese, but the 80s cartoon has that nostalgia factor. Also, I really enjoyed Turtles Forever!

I always thought that TMNT 3 would have so much more eye openingly awesome had it been used as a sequel/prequel type movie by giving a story that sees the guys help out Mitsu and her father deal with their enemy and by doing so they unwittingly set a series of events into motion that as the movie ends, we get a epilogue saying that after their victory against Walker, "peace had finally come to the communities in Japan but it was under constant threat and so the Emperor decided to form an elite protective group/army to combat these new threats " and then we find out that the name of this army/group is named THE FOOT CLAN by revealing a Red foot print on a white flag and with ominous as the image of the good Emperor slowly morphs into the shadow of THE SHREDDER. thus TMNT 3 ties right into the first two movies where we saw THE FOOT in power and then be vanquished in TMNT 1 and TMNT 2. I think doing this ties everything up nicely, thoughts??
TMNT Tournament Fighters was the game my dad let me get with the SNES I begged him for at Toys R Us., This exact stuff is what perplexed me as a 7 year old. Especially the restricted box in the instruction manual which I had all but forgotten about until now. Awesome video. Watching all your videos over the last couple years, It's crazy how similar our childhoods were.

@@WaffleCore87 Well the MK games for NES are bootleg ports. In terms of officially licensed games there are only a few to choose from, most of which are quite impressive. Tournament Fighters and Joy Mech Fight are the two best examples. (Especially the latter)

He, Cerebus the Aardvark, and Fugitoid were actually their own comics that just crossed over into TMNT for various amounts of time.
I'm a massive Turtles geek too, but never have been a gamer, so I know nothing other than watching play throughs of Injustice. When I read the title I was really hoping for Radical. I don't know why, but that would've been genius imo. The Radical and Carnage arc never gets enough love, probably because it's owned by Dooney, but I'm sure he'd be fine with selling those characters. He's pretty much divorced himself from TMNT now. Last time I saw him at a con he had exactly zero TMNT art on his booth and seemed annoyed that I'd brought a copy of Shellshock for him to sign, but whatever. Either way, if they were looking for a sexy lady fighter, Radical pretty much fits the bill.
