To tame a lv 15 Fjordhawk on official you only need to feed it 4 parasaurs, 3 rexes, 5 brontos, 9 alpha carnos, 17 gigas, 50 titanosaurs and an alpha king titan
I was out collecting Cementing paste in the upper left corner of the map. whilst doing this I was being attacked by raptors and a carno. After the smoke cleared, i had accidentally tamed a Hawk! I wasn't sure what I had done, so this video explained it to me very well. Thank you Steve!
Took me forever to tame one of these. On PC you can hit G next to a corpse to pick it up and drag it around. Works when riding some tames too but I found getting taming exp for the hawk while mounted was spotty and usually didn't work. You need to dismount and stand nearby while it feeds. I still have about 20 of them in my taming list lol. If I want more I'll probably use the rock golem trick. Thanks for all the testing Steve!
@@peabrain6872 I know for sure the Allo because that's the one I was using. I read parasaur and Rex but can't confirm those. You'd need to test it with what you've got. The tame walks really slow too. I was trying to work out a trap but nothing went right and I gave up lol.
I went to jotenhiem and tamed a bunch of Ovis then fed them to the hawks, highly recommended this because actually taming it is relatively safe it’s just getting the ovis, you could also just get 2 and breed them up.
@@Ingridmds_ Yes! Level up the health on the ovis as much as you can. I got a breeding pair, raise the babies and bumped up the health as much as I could, it gives more meat for the hawk (and you btw). Also I advise using the slaughter button, hold a melee weapon in your hand and go up to the sheep, you'll see the slaughter button there. The ovis like to fall through the mesh otherwise and it's hella annoying.

As always, very useful mate! As a side not, i figure that if you kill prey with your mounted creature the hawks won't get any taming percentage. However, if you manage to 'touch' the dead creature with a fist bump or drag it quickly, it will count for the hawks taming. Good luck taming everyone!
Update: Tame a breeding pair of ovis, raise babies and level up their health as much as you can, it gives more meat for the hawk, and you'll need less ovis for taming. Use the slaughter button because the ovis likes to fall through the map otherwise. On a 7x taming server, it takes 1 ovis for me to tame a 196 or 203 (210 is max level on our server). Try it out, it works!
Try SHEEP! They take forever to harvest! Any chance the quality of harvested material might affect the effectiveness? Golem's don't give anything they can eat, but it could be one of those weird Ark things. Like animals dropping poops bigger than their body.
I'm pretty sure they get more taming % from prime meat corpses, than regular meat. And of course the mutton from Ovis seems to work best. I discovered that by accident, since there just happened to be an ovis near by, when I was taming a hawk. It's worth is to gather up some ovis ahead of time.
I love that WC is trying to implemente alot of the QoL mods people get into actual tames. Makes it feel more rewarding when your tame brings your stuff back after a death vs clicking on a tombstone.
New way to tame. 2x3 - 4 walls high. 1 metal Dino gate front. 6 hatch frames to Separate floors 1 -2 & 3-4 . Giant metal hatch frame at very top. Drag a corpse into the bottom to lure fjourd hawks. Keep the ones you want. Kill the ones you don’t. Forgot to add double doors. Helped create a buffer chamber. Enter a new corpse close giant metal door behind you. Open double doors in front
Fjord hawk did not bring back my body bag when I died underwater just a bit of info for the curious. Always fun being disconnected while your taming underwater..
If you die in an open space in an underwater cave (an area in which you can breathe), the Fjordhawk will return your items to you, I believe. That could've just been a glitch, to be fair, so it's not confirmed if that's intentional.
Actually it could be that when you disconnected your shoulder pet's don't stay on your shoulder and maybe they have to be on your shoulder to bring you your stuff
@@christiandierlam162 I tested to see if the Hawk still brought things back just on follow, they don't which was a shame would be boss to have a Sino on the shoulder and a Hawk to bring your stuff back.
Ovis with leveled health is the best that I've found. My theory is if you stack health mutations on an Ovis it might be possible to tame one hawk off one Ovis. I've not done it yet though so it's theoretical at the moment.
Something you can try there is something up with the bag if you drop a bag he will pick it up and fly off I lost it my single player maybe you have to drop a bag so it can bring it back or something then you feed it I got a 20% 1 time using a 135 tame ovis and just killing it
What I like to do is pause the game. Press L1 + R1 + triangle + square, type in the box “Forcetame” then as the Fjordhawk eats the 1 parasaur you feed it, aim at said hawk and select apply command. Sincerely #1 ARK player (no cheats)
The level of the hawk doesn't effect how fast you tame it. A lvl 1 will tame as fast as a lvl 150- slow really slow. Best ways to tame them are ovis but brotos work well too.
i just thought of some thing if you get a fjordhawk and get a pt like a throw away level like level 20 and you get a wyvern egg and let the wyverns kill you the fjordhawk will get the egg from your inv i don't know if this actually works, but you should try it out some time

The best way to tame them is with a rock elemental body they can't harvest it so the bar gets full off one. But this might be patched. Another way might be with a high level ovis. I haven't tested the ovis taming yet.
No I used a pteranadon but stay close I think the closer to them when eating the better taming cuz I went to get the next kill nearby no taming when they ate it.
I killed about 8 different dinos less than ¼ tamed killed 2 brontos and a Diplo finished taming. That was 2 hawks but accidentally killed 1 killing the 2nd bronto used a pteranadon since I only got primitive pike and crossbow. So you don't have to do the kill yourself directly you can use tames, carefully! Anyway sauropods work very well including Parasaurs.
What level was the fjordhawk? I see so many 'how this is how you do it', but serious nobody got actual numbers or they use private servers with 12x tamespeed.
@@karremania sorry idk cuz it wasn't planned just happened and I went with it best I could lol fumbling about like a noob. But it tamed low about a 25 I think but others swear by sauropods and Paras from I experienced it works but I'm solo offline PS4 so my sliders are high for taming alone. These brontos did more than phioma rex raptor etc don't remember the rest but 1-2% maybe as high as 5% so brontos definitely better. Hope that helps also it was night and Fjordur is cave dark in my game. Next 1 will be easy cuz I know more of what to except 1st 1 always the hardest.
As of now on official best way to tame it is to use high lvl ovises, can go to Valguero and tame a buttload of those. Let them sit in cryofridge for a couple of days, level them in HP, every point, then take them to Fjordur, slaughter them in front of fjordhawk you want to tame and there you have it. Easy peasy. Unfortunately golem no longer woks, it's been patched several monts ago.
Just a heads up, the creature list you're looking at is for the modded version of fjordur, and some of those creatures aren't included on the new official version.
The golem is most likely a glitch and will get patched if its not a glitch thats great! Fjordhawks tame off of drag weight so Basilasauras, Megachelon and brontos are best. High hp sheep take more bites so they work ok but they have to have very high hp.
ey nooblet, gave it some thought on your approach on the idea of using a bunch of player bodies, why not get an assistant like a friend of yours to bite the bullet (by you killing them, not them killing themselves with things like campfires and organic polymer) for at least getting a few low level ones then breeding them up?
does the fjordhawk get your stuff if you die in lava or in a cave like ones we have on scorched earth or valguero ? and basically he is teleporting to the bed u spawn in right?

The Hawk is way unnecessarily hard to tame. You want a hawk in early to mid progression when you could die anytime you leave your house and its actually painful to replace gear. By the time you can just go murder 50 carnos to feed to the hawk you are so well established you don't need the hawk. This was a very bad call by the devs to make these this hard to tame
i disagree. the hawk is very overpowered. it can literally recover your body anywhere you go. for example it will pick up ur body deep in lava and water. the dino is very overpowered and should not be easily accesable, it should not really be a thing. it will be impossible to gather loot in pvp when everyone just goes around with their hawk
I disagree. for me I was considering using a death recovery mod pure big fat cheating cheaty thing. its an op thing.just kill 2 rexes with a shotgun they are easy to kill with a pump action shotgun try ovises too if they exist there. fjordhawk are extremly op. not only in pvp but also in single player. I find them more op than shadowmanes. also imagine stealing a wyvern egg dying and the fjordhawk can grab the bag with the egg in it for you (I'm not sure if that's a thing or not,probably yes) if you have a life that you want to live just don't play with 1 time taming speed.and kill any creature you find them any level it doesn't matter lower level will take much less time
@@sexlover34 The first flaw is that it will 'instagib' in certain caves, like island solo (no dino) snow cave with the instant-death falls, it will die when you fall down. Same happens in the lava cave if you fall down under a ledge. His immunity timer is only limited by its HP, where a low wild one is not that long.
@@karremania yes that is right, it wont recover in insta-death spots. but in lava like fjordur it will manage to recover your body, as it does not deal that much damage, at least a high lvl one. they are breedable aswell, so they will probably get pretty insane hp after some months.
If you respawn far from your stuff and hawk will it still bring it back? Does it fly it back or kind of teleport to where you spawn with a bag? Idk how it works haha
I noticed a much bigger gain on a terror bird corpse than normal dinos, perhaps they get better gains on 'bird types' since that is what hawks usually hunt?

I believe the the amount that the taming bar goes up is based on drag weight. So basically the heavier it is the more taming it gives

Ovis worked pretty well for me with the taming effectiveness staying high. The taming didn't go up as fast but the effectiveness stayed.
Was it on official servers? How many ovis you used?

Just tested in SP at 1x if you boost an ovis to 7400 health then slaugher will tame with 99% effective for a single 150 hawk

You can also fast travel between beds and the hawk will bring your stuff to you 😊

I tamed a level 130 inside a cave the cave creatures seemed to tame faster but I also have my taming up all the way.

The best taming ever: you can kill baby gigas with your pet or also you can just kill the adult one

I disagree. for me I was considering using a death recovery mod pure big fat cheating cheaty thing. its an op thing.just kill 2 rexes with a shotgun they are easy to kill with a pump action shotgun try ovises too if they exist there.
fjordhawk are extremly op. not only in pvp but also in single player. I find them more op than shadowmanes. also imagine stealing a wyvern egg dying and the fjordhawk can grab the bag with the egg in it for you (I'm not sure if that's a thing or not,probably yes) if you have a life that you want to live just don't play with 1 time taming speed.and kill any creature you find them any level it doesn't matter lower level will take much less time
@@sexlover34 The first flaw is that it will 'instagib' in certain caves, like island solo (no dino) snow cave with the instant-death falls, it will die when you fall down. Same happens in the lava cave if you fall down under a ledge. His immunity timer is only limited by its HP, where a low wild one is not that long.
@@karremania yes that is right, it wont recover in insta-death spots. but in lava like fjordur it will manage to recover your body, as it does not deal that much damage, at least a high lvl one. they are breedable aswell, so they will probably get pretty insane hp after some months.

If you respawn far from your stuff and hawk will it still bring it back? Does it fly it back or kind of teleport to where you spawn with a bag? Idk how it works haha

I noticed a much bigger gain on a terror bird corpse than normal dinos, perhaps they get better gains on 'bird types' since that is what hawks usually hunt?
Do they bring you your stuff even when you fast travel?
