    Just realised how important it is we spend our time with.

    @Laura Fridley Add to that saying "When you hear the bell a second time, come and stand on the cross", which implying what happens in a train station. Also, "please take your seats", "slow this image and make it bigger & bolder" and even speaking through a microphone in a voice much similar to ones you would hear in a train station calling the incoming trains for example. Man, this guy is really creative.

    There are some very clever visual cues in this scene that suggest a train platform, though they are very subtle. For instance, you see that the bottom edge of the frame actually suggests a "yellow line" and the X suggests "stand back from the yellow line." Also, the experience of standing there, seeing someone clearly where they aren't supposed to be, that is across the yellow line, suggests the other person might actually be in danger. Finally, the frame also suggests a doorway, that is something that may be crossed into. There's more, but that's enough, I think. Put all these together, and you have one complete story to entertain us all. Derren is a master of this sort of manipulation. Bravo.

      +Double Dragon: Does your comment examples mean, one can't tune in to another without them, and get an idea of their feelings? Maybe it just works stronger.If it IS possible, how do I stop them from noticing and getting disturbed?

    This short video appears to be an excellent example of how you can entrain your brainwaves to match another person's, to the point that additional information flows.
    Remember this is all about the electrical activity of the brain being able to affect other brains.
    It's not spooky. It's real, and it's a good reason why you should be very careful who you associate with -- and how other people can sometimes drag you down into their own chaos without your even realizing how it happened.

      god damnit these comments make me wish you could send fists through e-mails. This person doesn't know the first thing about physics yet attempts to blend it with mysticism. Stop trying to taint science with this bullshit.
      What derren is doing is adequately explained through psychology, suggestion and showmanship.
      No brainwave manipulation needed here.

    Come on guys. Let the people who do not believe on this stuff believe what they want. Let them live in their own little box. If and when they do, that is to your advantage. You know very well that using this stuff put you on top of everybody. The everyday people don''t believe or understand this. Good for you both!
    You the one who know about this stuff can make things work in your favor do to the use of this stuff. This stuff should be kept a secret. It is to powerful!

    What "Mentalist" means changes depending on context and location. When referring to Derren Brown in Britain, A Mentalist is a form of Magician who specializes in using psychology to pull off their magic tricks rather then slight of hand.

    Unconscious is used to define someones thoughts when they are asleep or passed out/KO'd. There is such thing as sub conscious thought you twit for instance you think about every single breathe you take do you? or every time you blink it's automatic you can't control it (to a certain extent).

    It does not necessarily be actions..it can be done through trying to mirror the other guy's speech pattern(not his accent because that is too obvious and it makes it look like your mocking him). Its a great way to build trust. I tried it myself.

    He just doesn't like to use the words "psychic abilities" however, it is one and the same as he presents it.....psychic is intuitive and uses all the things he mentions.....it is the unspoken word, the feeling of the situation, the expressions, the eyes. we read all of us read unconsciously from these things. We can be trained to access them at will with intention.

  • @magdalenaferu

    The danger he felt was induced by the red light and the music.
    The yellow line was the yellow frame that was on the floor at his sight for 30 min.
    The wind that blows , i suspect that was induced by a fan in the studio.
    The sense of achivement was clear in the eyes and facial expression and body posture of the rescuer.
    Mistake:He felt the danger induced as people in panic and mayhem-this was his closest understanding of danger.
    Any other mistake was stoped by the order: no more details.

    Quite enjoyed his show. It was old school Derren. Fact, he genuinely does use magic, psychology, misdirection and showmanship. It's just not always what you think. Anyway, who bitches that Paul Daniels never really sawed Debbie McGee in half? It's the way Derren weaves everything together that is genius.

  • @rx8boi
    @rx8boi 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    good good. I agree with that. It's just bad form when an act states they dont use actors or stooges or camera tricks and then do, whether it to be a few select cases or not.
    all tricks are lies to some degree but you have to have a 'moral' line that isnt crossed so you can appreciate the skill involved.
    also, attempting "street magic" multiple times until someone falls the right way is not much better. show the other 9 out of 10 attempts when the trick fails! :)

    More accurately, he heavily criticizes its efficacy and conclusions about the mind while admitting that some of the techniques are useful in his trade. He is a true skeptic who reads and adapts from sources he doesn't agree with and doesn't belong to any once "school". In his book he says you need to take NLP with a grain of salt and try not to pay for any classes in it because they're usually rip-offs. He also thinks NLP made interesting discoveries early on, but has lost its way.

    You don't need to reveal the methods. They're not that complex. Anyone with a keen eye can piece it together. At the end of the day he is just a magician, and magicians do trick, they don't read minds, as I'm sure you know.

    @rdoetjes Ok I am may be missing the point. Tell me, what do you think is the point that Derren is trying to make? May be we just have different views or information. I did get knocked on the head a lot of times. Specially coming from Mexican Parents so I give you that. Ha ha!
    But can you please explain what you mean?

    well thats the skill of good misdirection, i.e. debbie was/is as talented as paul when you consider the spaces she could squeeze into. and they kept the secrets to a minimum and shared them with few in pulling them off.
    derren does seem to be over obsessed with "weaving" everything together to the extent that it becomes obvious that this isnt the reality
    itd be more plausible if he insisted that it was all the fault of naughty pixies!!
    lol

    i already know how he "does" his act. why would i want to give my hard earned cash to this guy?

  • @moodini99
    @moodini99 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    It isn't suggestion or psychology. Derren is just a run of the mill magician that dresses magic tricks up as something else. The one thing he is very talented at is showmanship, that is why people fall for the illusion that his tricks have anything to do with Psychology, they don't.
    Derren is no genius. And he is no more of a 'mentalist' than Uri Gellar is a psychic. You aren't appreciating his work, you're falling for his act.

  • @yanimar89
    @yanimar89 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    it seems you have misunderstood what mentalism is all about moodini.. it's about using knowledge on how the minds works, how we make the choices we make, and so on to influence other people.. the mentalists just show the extremes of such behaviours.. derren is a mentalist, but the thing is that he sometimes use the psychology-label to enhance his "normal" magic-tricks.. sure, were falling for it if we believe all he says, but some of it is true.. do your homework and you'll find out =)

  • @mercurio0000
    @mercurio0000 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do I mean by keep this stuff a secret! Exactly that. Don't tell ANYONE that this stuff is possible. To start with, they will not believe it. So why even waist your time.
    I mean, when it comes to jobs, money, dates, sex you and others are in the same game.
    Let me ask you this. If you were playing poker, would you show your cards to the other players? Only an idiot would do that!
    Same principal here.
    I use this stuff on emails, phone calls, recording, in person and it works every time.

  • @rx8boi

  • @stevewithak
    @stevewithak 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you honestly believe this is achieved through stooges you've been tricked, pal. Far easier way to do this, I assure you.
    Agreed on his latest shows, not as dazzling as before. But mentalism is limited, I guess.

  • @rx8boi
    @rx8boi 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    lol
    if you believe his explanations then you are being tricked twice
    its not very difficult to pull off something like this
    very easy if you use stooges and actors
    but even the "hero" can be real
    remember that lots of people apply to go on his show and its not difficult to look up there name with local newspapers and find these stories
    i must admit this is one of his better acts compared to his two latest tricks
    lottery numbers=split screen
    stuck to the chair? LOL

  • @rx8boi

    you make it sound like its all a big secret and all so worthy

    lol at "mantalism"
    im seeing concentric circles everywhere now!!!!
    what a load of crap his "show" was tonight
    nothing even approaching new
    and hydrolist1......
    you must spend most of your time buying thing if you are as receptive to suggestion as you seem to believe people are.
