  • ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It affects many creative people, but it does not need to be viewed as a curse or an affliction. B'sue and Donna discuss the ups and downs of living with ADHD while running a successful arts and crafts business, nurturing others and achieving their own creative goals. This video is from www.bsueboutiqu... where we offer high quality components, brass stampings, findings, custom plated finishes, beads, tools, chain, and mixed media product at economical prices. Here at You Tube we teach you how to use them for free. It's a joy to assist you to expand your creative horizons. The information in this video is meant to encourage and inform. B'sue and Donna are not trained counselors and cannot professionally advise anyone on the subject of ADHD. This video is for informational purposes and to increase awareness. It was also made to celebrate the things that were taught to us by our dear friend and mentor, Richard William Lillo, professional clinical counselor, who recently passed away after a long illness. His wisdom touched many lives and we will never forget him. We know that he would be glad that we shared a little of what he taught us, with you. #BSue_Boutiques

    Thank you for your share. I have so many projects and ideas it is overwhelming. I love so many things, or want to do so many things. Scrapbooking, jewelry making, resin work, crochet, and oh look something shiny over there I want to try!!! and nothing or very little gets made. If it gets made I most often feel it isn't good enough. It is exhausting and it can make me feel bad for the cost of what has gone out and nothing much to show for it. I just bought the new Circuit Explore machine and have so many ideas of what to do with it as soon as a cable I need comes. My brain is tired. :) Thank you again, I will look into it more as it seems I could have this. :)

    just came across this video and it really made me feel a bit better, I was recently diagnosed with adhd and Aspergers at 32, I started uni to get back into art to do it professionally but I struggle with finishing things, or even concentrating to start.. then I get a burst of creativity get some good ideas, maybe even create something good and then it goes away again.

    Nice job Ladies. I am an artist and a Physician Assistant working in Psychiatry. Thank you for sharing about your ADD/ADHD. I am treating lots of people with the same issues and plugging along making my art and jewelry. There is just a little bit of ADD sitting here in my corner. Nice job talking about it. First, I would like to apologize for commenting a while back about the talking over. Second, I want to thank you so much for this video. I have been overwhelmed for about a year now in my jewelry making and other projects. I finally just decided not to do anything for some time now. You girls hit the nail on the head and described exactly what I've been feeling. I feel so much better and will take your advice. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. Thank you again. You have changed my life! God Bless

    Thank you for this wonderful and discussion. I have ADHD and it greatly affects my life, both positively and negativity. I've been depressed, filled with Anxiety and feel truly Bipolar and it really hurts. My enviorment dosen't help either. I can't really choose what foods I can eat yet because I don't have my own income, and we all know how lack of healthy intake can negatively effect you as well.
    But I won't lose hope. Thank you two sooo much. I am forever grateful for your stories. :)

    I Have ADHD with being on the high end of both hyperactivity and inattentive which is the combined ADHD. Medication is VERY helpful but I have found it is not the only thing that can fix it completely. You have to also do things on your own that will help. When I stayed home, I got involved with the crafts to help give me something to do without going crazy. I have also been a business owner since 1993. Glad you are able to know what you have and able to control it through meds and on your own.

    Thank you so much for these kind of videos you two, and I am very sorry for your loss. In these times were everyone is always trying to show how perfect they are and what kind of amazing things they can produce seemingly without any effort, people like me (kind of unsure of my talent and like you said, bouncing all over the place in my mind) get down and discouraged so easiely :( it's SO important to have honest, real people who will show you that everyone is struggeling from time to time, and that relaxing, taking a step back and then just marching on will eventually get you places. I admire your craftiness BSue, and the fact that you pulled your business out of the ground the way you did. You have become kind of my role model :)

    I jokingly refer to myself as an ADD artist, because my thoughts and interests go all over the board. One thing that helped me make peace with this classification though, was when I accepted that I am a process person - the process is more important to me than a finished product. Once I stopped stressing over my completion rate and started embracing the joy of the doing, I became much happier with myself. Thanks for sharing ladies!

      I finish stuff but I also have a very large backlog of unfinished work. I tend to lose inspiration on something and it goes by the wayside only to be covered up with paint at a much later date and transformed into something else.

    Here's the four R's in case anyone missed it:
    - Retreat.
    get out of that environment because it may just create anxiety for you or feelings of failure.
    - Relax. let feelings of defeat go. those feelings are a lie.
    - Rethink. journal, make a plan
    - React. now it's time to take action. execute your plan.

    • @bsueboutiques
      @bsueboutiques  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting out of the environment is not always possible. But you can retreat mentally by just stepping back to re-examine the situation. Some who take the meds experience a little aggressive conduct or anger that previously they didn't deal with. The meds help so many people, so they need to deal with those side effects. Feelings of defeat usually are a lie, but they may not be the issue in every case. Just breathe in and breathe out and then rethink. Sometimes there is time for a journal, most times there isn't because it's stuff that happens on your feet as you move through your day. You train yourself not to respond immediately. You teach yourself to speak directly and not go around the mulberry bush because of all the emotions you may be feeling at that moment. Reacting is often as simple as saying the right thing at the right time, instead of spewing a bunch of things that are not need to know, because your brain on ADHD tends to take the grand tour as you search for a response. Until you come to the right response, you don't have to tell them what you saw on the tour. ;-)

    At one time I was interested in so many different things and I had oodles of things and I very rarely got done with anything! Oh sure there was a few things but not compared to the stuff I never finished. I still have a quilt top.. that is done, but I have never finished it. I have dug it out, so I hope I can finish it! When we moved to a different state I jus got rid of everything.. I regret it now.. but I was so tired I couldn't or didn't want to even look at it! I have more of a Asperger's thing going on, but I certainly have ADHD also! Great video! Blessings

    OMGoodness, I don't think that I have ADHD; however, I understand all that! I used to always be doing multiple things at once, mind always on the go, sleep sometimes difficult! Today, I am a disabled 43 year old unemployed woman (ex-runner). In the past 5 years my arthritis has painfully taken over my joints and destroyed my right hip (left one right behind it), just holding on to avoiding the wheelchair. I started beading after I lost my job in an attempt to maybe make some money and help my husband with the bills. I am unable to get around, get my chores done, even difficult to take a shower. I find myself sleepless, tired, mind racing, anxious, almost depressed. I do have incomplete projects, all these ideas I can't get done quick enough which causes more anxiety...LOL, I am a mess... It was great to hear you say these things, I am not crazy... Thank you. I am sorry for your loss. There are really no words to follow with that... a great loss of a good man. I needed this video, so I thank him for blessing you to bless those of us who needed it. Thank you very much...

    • @bsueboutiques
      @bsueboutiques  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ADHD isn't mental illness. ;-) Those who have it are just wired different than the rest. The things you say about yourself may be from an anxiety disorder....or from ADHD.....or both. Generalized Anxiety Disorder often accompanies ADHD, I have it. If you are able to get an evaluation by a professional, it can't hurt and can only help. It's not a sentence, it is a revelation. Knowing what the issues are helps you to deal with them. ;-)

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I know I'm several years late, but I appreciate it all the same. I've struggled with myself and my mind for so long and feel so lost a lot of the time. I know I have the heart and soul of a maker, but I struggle to make things connect, and have given up so many times... But I keep coming back to the table sometimes after several years. I recently found B'Sue Boutiques through a tutorial on Katie Oskins site and just fell in love. I've bought so many things from the site over the past few months but have only made two things. I have all my spaces covered with messes of beads and brass and all manner of things that I can't see through the clutter in my table or in my mind. I'm a creative person and love to make, but I'm struggling. Ive been watching videos for days from B'Sue 's channel and this one really hit me hard. Thank you for what you do and sharing all you know. This has given me hope that I will be able to cut through the tangle in my mind and begin to fulfill some of my need to create art in a way that is meaningful to me.

    What a powerful video. You both have touched my heart. I admire your bravery, your strength, and your willingness to share with the world. Especially at a time that you are both grieving for your loss of a dear friend. As I watched, I learned. Thank you for helping me and so many others become aware, be educated with the knowledge about ADHD and ADD, and most of all reassuring everyone that this is not a curse, it is one of their creative gifts. During the video I had a few gentle, quiet tears, that slowly created a few paths down my cheeks.....because you are both so courageous and because a wonderful man's life has now ended. The positive impacts he made while he was alive are enduring. After I finished watching, I realized that what will also endure are the insights in this video about ADHD and ADD....a better understanding of it.....and the encouragement to accept it with compassion for others, and for ourselves. Thank you Brenda Sue and Donna so very, very much!

I do not want to sound insulting, sorry... but it is a new experience for me to see that ladies in "your age" ;-) are talking openly about their issues and obsticles. I thought you were all "perfect housewifes". It feels good to know I am not alone. Especially when you said, that it can cause more anxiety, when we create bigger messes, it was very eyeopnening.
