There's something about old, 80s / 90s animation that I'll always prefer over the cleaner look of modern animation. It's this sweet spot between the really old stuff and the too sleek new age.
Part of the reason I paid $223.40 for the - DiC for seasons 1 & 2, Cloverway for seasons 3 & 4 - dubs of Sailor Moon. Also, 39:18 is wrong; Melodrama is neither comedy nor tragedy, but combines some elements of each into its own unique form.
I've been a fan of Ninja Gaiden and the Dead or Alive games for years but didn't even know this OVA was a thing until right now. I love how unrepentantly 80s it is in all of its cheesy action glory.
That was actually pretty good. Being a huge fan of Ninja Gaiden, I had heard it wasn't that good but I was surprised. I knew of this anime for years but I didn't know it was on TH-cam until just now. Thanks for sharing!
RyuHayabusa06 I really dig it as a fan of the games and 80s OVAs. It's awesome they brought back Robert after not returning in NG2's ending, and the rest of the cast is really likable. The only thing that irks me is Irene, who they changed too much. She just feels like some random girl who had no involvement in the games- generic girlfriend and far from ex CIA. Wish they made more
@@TheT3rr0rMask exactly, I'm not into feminism bs but she's such a damsel in distress here. I mean, she's an Ex-CIA, man... Doesn't make any sense for her to act like this.
Yeah man I absolutely love this anime. I can’t fathom why someone would say it’s not that good, it’s awesome. Sure it takes some liberties with the games story and whatnot but as a whole I think it’s excellent
@@arkanjoteixeira I could understand them making Irene into a damsel in distress for the sake of moving the story forward, but they didn't even do that. Ryu didn't even know she was kidnapped until the last minute, and Robert had already expressed his conviction to help Ryu earlier in the film. Neither of them needed Irene to be kidnapped to motivate them to do what they did. She was kidnapped for literally no reason.
absolutely brilliant.... brings memorys of ultra violent anime classics back to me, days of guyver, akira, ninja scroll, genocyber, wicked city, cyber city oeda etc 80-90s classics :)
They should make a new Ninja Gaiden anime. So far, this was the ONLY film ever given to the franchise. There's so much more they can explore with Ninja Gaiden. It has a great storyline, memorable characters, and lots of solid material to work with. I can easily see more Ninja Gaiden movies being made. Hell, they could even do a TV show.
@Shin Shaman IT DOES LOOK LIKE AN 80S ANIME! I mean look at the neo noir scenery, and especially how they kinda pull off a little more Golgo 13 style action scenes! It REALLY does look and sounds more like an 80s anime despite this Ninja Gaiden OVA released in 1991.
Man that was really solid minus making Irene just kinda helpless and there to get saved. But that kinda comes with the territory when you’re watching Anime from this far back. Really liked the side characters too as cliche as it was. The 80s/90s aesthetics were lovely too.
The only disadvantage of this OVA that I see is that there's no music theme from the original NES games. Outside of it, really stunning anime... The quality of the traces and animation is great. The story is a detective story with some science fiction ingredients, embedded in mystery and lightened by action... And it's well told!
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that, with a little more jutsu and eventual progression to the current story and look but keeping the same art style, characters and music, this would make a kick ass series that could beat back most of the anime today?
For someone like me who grew up with all 3 classic Ninja gaiden NES games This is always such awesome movie to rewatch, this is like the 10th time i watch this underrated film Really love it's classic animation manga style & love this version of Ryu I will be recording today a homage series dedicated to Ryu hayabusa Roleplay in Dark Souls remastered a Ninja katana build in my gaming channel I'll try to make look like this
I love the animation. It has a minimal amount of one of the things that piss me off about anime sometimes; the scene where a character attacks and, instead of showing the sword strike, it shows a black screen with a glowing slash mark. Being able to watch most of the action is a real treat--thanks for uploading!
Pretty good. Glad they brought back Robert. You'd think they'd mention something about Irene being former CIA though. Most CIA agents wouldn't be that freaked out over shooting something.
Fun to think that when I was kid, I use to entertain the thought of Ninja Gaidens Ryu and Street Fighters character being one in the same...Imagine that😂

true true true 80s 90s anime graphic detail so aesthetic
I agree yo
That pencil is crazy the new shit just looks like hentai for the creeps
It definitely beats the pants off the shitty CGI bobbleheads you see in Netflix anime.
agreed. It's sorta the same with 16 bit graphics. It still to this day has an aesthetic appeal, as seen in indie gaming.
