Could you imagine if this created a Disney world type park where it could have gotham, metropolis, star city, and others that would've been amazing, and I think if WB was ahead of Disney I think we could've got that.
@@annieskywalker9290 that would've been amazing, planet coaster is coming out to ps4 next month and I might try to bring a DC type park, well with what I can do.

A Gotham City and Metropolis could have been amazing, an Arkham Asylum dark ride / haunted house area for Halloween, STAR Labs, with DC exhibits of DC tech for Batman, Flash, Krypton tech...A Hall of Justice, Batcave walk through with his tech from the 1966 series, the books and all the films, a Fortress of Solitude...why can't some billionaire buy the license to do all this?! Imagine Marvel's theme park, not that Superhero Island.. Xavier's school, Avengers Mansion, Daily Bugle, Asgard, Stark Tower with a huge wall of armors... Celebs that play those characters could surprise guests as their schedule permits..stunt shows, themed restaurants and stores... I wish I was a billionaire, all of these Parks and fully immersive ST and SW Parks, and maybe a SG 1 themed island. People would hand over their wallets!

It’s probably because concepts have no limit to their size. I imagine that this DC world would have been wildly popular, but I would also imagine that it would have cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and that probably was more money than Universal was willing to spend
Because in order to be good, they need staying power. Trends and fads will fade with time. I can't imagine what would have happened to Gotham City after almost thirty years of park attendance... *cough* Harry Potter land. *cough cough*
God they could’ve competed with Disney so easily if they went through with this! I would truly say that this would be worth visiting for well over four days
While a fully themed, immersive Gotham City hasn't been made, Six Flags Over Texas has an entire section themed to Gotham, with a Batman Clone, Mr Freeze Reverse Blast and a 4D Free Spin to Joker, along with various gotham villan themed flats.
Realistically though there’s no way universal would’ve pulled this off in the late 90s. With epic universe now they could do it, although I don’t think they or WB are interested
Great video. Need to be more mindful of audio levels though. Your voice over is quieter than most everything else and the music after nighttime spectacular section is WAY too loud.
Really interesting video, as I never knew about this project existing, but seems a lot of the plans were kept by Warner Bros, as 10 years later they will make a very similar, although cheaper and smaller version of this complete idea, so it DID see the light of day, and you can still visit it, its a Warner Bros Park (that was built by six flags, but now sold it to Parques Reunidos, thankfully still keeping all the WB copyright stuff) in Madrid, Spain. The area is called DC Super Heroes World and its divided into Metropolis and Gotham City. You enter through Metropolis (theme around the bright art deco of the comics and animated series) and theres various restaurants there, like the Daily Planet restaurant, while the Planet Krypton restaurant is referenced in various images hough the Superman queue. The main Daily Planet building contain the queue for Superman: La Atracción de Acero (Ride of Steel). You enter through the lobby, offices and printing room, but instead of ending on a Spiderman type of ride is a B&M floorless coaster (pretty good I may add). Theres a flatride themed after one of the inventions of Lex Luthor, a top spin you enter through Lex's office building. Passing all this you enter the gates of Gotham City, themed around Batman 89. The first part is a funfair type of theme with carnival games themed around Batman villains. At the right you will find a Mr Freeze swinging chairs and a The riddler S&S 100m shoot and drop tower. At the right of the carnival you go into a small forest that takes you to Arkham Asylum (very well themed around the comics) with a batmobile 89 parked and at the end of the queue a batman B&M clone waits thats surround the arkham asylum building. Infront of the carnival part start the city part of Gotham City, again using Batman 89 as the base, with some Gotham dinings, a joker bumper cars and sweets shop, and the Gotham plaza with the City Hall, were the Batman stunt show takes place. This show originally (and the best version of it) was based around Batman The Animated Series, with Joker and Harley trying to gas the whole city with a bomb and Batman and Robin come to save the day. The music was from the Batman 89 movie while the actor voices were from Batman TAS (the spanish voice actor for the series). At the end of the city you found the Gotham City park, the Monarch Theater and the Wayne Mansion, house to the darkride Batwing (the exact one you talked about in your video). The ride here was called Batman Knight Flight, and you entered the Wayne Mansion, with a batcave preshow with a Batman animatronic, then you ride the simulator, and then you exit the ride through the Monarch Theater. The ride was completely gutted inside, leaving only the outside, suposedly waiting the Sally Justice League darkride you can see at other six flag theme parks.
Love videos like these. Well researched, well edited, and not just a slide show with a voice over. Footage was useful and relevant and I hadn't seen some before! Keep up the good work.
I miss Batman the escape in Astroworld, the cue line had a Bat cave and props from Batman returns including the suit, batmobile, and the duck from the movie
Man, it was AWESOME just going the the queue line and seeing all the crazy stuff they had. In Fiesta Texas they had Joker's Revenge which had an AWESOME queue line that looked like a hall of mirrors and a GIANT hand buzzer on the wall that buzzed if you pressed it hard enough along with other crazy things like that. Those rides were so cool when I was a kid!
Oh my God, had this gigantic concept been executed correctly, it would've been one of the best theme park attractions ever made! However, something tells me it would've too hard.
I think that simulator ride about being in the batwing and facing joker in a ballon was eventually done as a Warner Bros movie World ride. However the concept art doesn’t match the finished product
Maniac536 I want a Warner Bros. Movie Studios Theme Park in Las Vegas and it could be a bit similar to the Warner Bros. World theme park in Abu Dhabi but with some attractions based on popular WB movie IPs like The Lord of the Rings franchise and some other Warner Bros. properties like DC Comics, Cartoon Network shows, HBO shows like Game of Thrones, etc. and it’ll be a partnership with Six Flags!
A real shame it was never fully realized, all those ideas sound awesome, and there would probably be enough material in the DC universe to just make an entire park on that concept, which I would have loved to visit ^^
Six flags Magic mountain actually did this on a smaller scale. its no longer Gotham city but was converted to a Dc universe themed area recently. alot of the original gotham city themed area still exists including the Batman coaster themed to the 1989 batman movie
I saw some concept art on the goddard group website for a Gotham City/Metropolis area that was never used. Seriously that Gotham concept art you showcased is incredible. Such a shame it was never built. Goddard listed the project as Six Flags and the location was listed as Florida. Could these concepts be an amalgamation of several different proposals?
WOW......JUST WOW!!!! This would have elevated Islands of Adventure status as a theme park to near god levels and would have left everyone at Disney speechless! And Yet WB is like 'no we cant have another park showcasing our properties, its not right" and yet 20 some years later they are cool with the whole Harry Potter area. How Pathetic! The water/car show alone would have been jaw dropping to see, it would have been like taking all the best elements from the mediocre Batman Six Flag shows and Water World, combine them together and cranking it up to 100! Screw the plane crash in Water World, I would have loved to see Batman beating the joker, resulting in a giant missile collapsing and blowing up in front of me! But alas there may be good news! As of now Six Flags is looking to acquire new parks and renovate them! Somebody should seriously bring this to there attention!
Considering Disney is Hell bent on buying up the rest of Marvel, it's only a matter of time before Universal has to replace Marvel Superhero Island with something else, since Disney is starting to put Marvel in their parks now. I don't think there's much time left for Marvel Superhero Island. Might come full circle and we can get a DC themed island instead. Wishful thinking but still.
I'm surprised that it hasn't happened already. I figured the big D would have shut that down by now. But I wonder if the contract is one like was given to the likes of Fox and Sony, where it's effectively in perpetuity.
Yes, it is in perpetuity. Disney can not take the license away unless Universal breaches the contract (like neglecting to pay royalties or maintain quality standards). It would take a major trade for Universal to voluntarily give up those characters.
Oh Marvel and their perpetuity contracts. I bet Disney really loves having to go around trying to re-secure all the rights to the most popular Marvel properties. All because Marvel made some really shitty stupid business decisions.
Yes, Universal only has the themepark rights to use the comic book characters. But the contract does prevent Disney from using any variation of the characters, or even the Marvel brand in their east coast themeparks (if you notice the GotG ride in Disney World is not under the Marvel moniker). The movie rights were sold to Fox, and it seems that would be a big part of the acquisition. Under Disney ownership Marvel was purposely avoiding promoting these characters. So it is clear they WANT to reconsolidate all of the rights under the Disney roof.
The crazy thing is that universal didn't say yes to give 10%, 60%, or even 80% credit to DC, BUT! They said yes to give credit to HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND HARRY POTTER IS ALSO WARNER BROTHERS WHO MADE DC MOVIES/SHOWS!!!! Y UNIVERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😩😤😩😤💔💔💔💔
Man, that's a damn shame that this only didn't happen because a company didn't get exactly what they wanted, this would have definitely been a big hit.
I loved this! I think my only comment would have been to include the other concepts that got translated to Warner Bros related parks - such as the now made Justice League attraction and Dark Knight coaster. Otherwise, A+
This sounds like it would have been the greatest theme park EVER! If it had been made, I would have planned my entire 21st birthday around going to Gotham City. On the night of my birthday I would have gone to to Batcave.
Gage Moss literally thought the same thing! I watch channels like yesterworld, defunctland, and park ride history... waiting on similar content and rewatching content. Meanwhile channels like this exist but TH-cam thinks I need to see more videos from watchmojo...
Yea Joi! I'll be half way through a "Pirates" ride history and realize I'd already seen it--but a whole channel slips through the cracks. And one of the things in "Pirates" I was curious about was the 'Museum of the Weird' which is addressed in one of these vlogs.

There is a gotham and metropolis area full of rides and city theming in Parque Warner in Madrid, Spain, including a startours-like bat-wing simulator with Wayne Manor and batcave queue, many restaurants, a comic book store, a Joker ride, and a superman rollercoaster
This would've been so cool if it happened! The problem with the marvel area in universal is it doesn't feel very big at all. There's also only 3 rides I can remember. The amount of immersion and stuff you can go see in this project would've been on a whole other level. Too bad the companies were greedy and couldn't compromise on profits...
Universal should shut down Marvel Super Hero Island and add DC attractions. Think about it this would allow Disney to create some awesome Marvel attractions at Disney World. I love the MSI rides but they are outdated and it would be cool to see some new Marvel rides done by Disney. This could allow universal to make awesome DC rides and make up for the shitty DC six flags coasters.
Not to mention, Almost all the Universal parks have sections dedicated to Harry Potter, a Warner Bros property (which is funny if you think about it, years ago they hated the idea of having another studio showcasing their properties, now they are totally ok with it). I went to Universal Orlando when I was a kid I would have much rather gone to Gotham city then Islands of Adventure. The Giant as hell boat/car show would have been worth the ticket price alone. It would have blown Disney out of the water. But I dont really see this ever happening in the future with Universal. I went to the park in Hollywood and it looks like their not really into expansions right now and just adding 4-d attractions. However I heard Six Flags is trying to acquire land for new parks. Somebody should seriously contact/start a petition and bring this to there attention!!
Universal has a strong relationship with WB, especially with the Harry Potter franchise. Though DC and Universal couldn't come to an agreement on the project discussed in this video, they have partnered for other projects.
It would have been cool to see how this park changed over the years with the comics and movies- I wonder if it would have done away with Robin after Dark Knight?
That's a dam shame when millions of people miss out on a good thing cause board of director's fight over money. Gotham City would have been an awesome idea but even though they had a bunch of great show rides, there was no mentions of any Batman or Joker roller coasters which would have crowned the park. Maybe one day when Six Flags close their doors for good (won't miss them) Universal can buy the rights and move the batman coaster to Universal.
Um why isn’t this Gotham World existing now? If only an irl Bruce Wayne can buy the rights to build a Gotham City and Metropolis amusement park :/ this would be a dream come true.
Jeez lueeze this land and rides sounds like a hella cool place to be! Too bad this never happened. -also it should’ve been called Hero City, bc of the variety of dc heroes-
Being a universal passholder and going more than the average person this is a great video! Those rides would have been very cool to see. So glad I found this channel.
I never knew this was a possible IoA idea! I think some of these ideas did trickle down into some six flags parks... and I know a lot of those early concepts look similar to the original idea artwork for Gotham City section in Six Flags Over Georgia.
Well, considering how Disney owns Marvel and at this point only licenses some characters to Universal, it is possible that down the line Disney will pull away the license use leaving the Marvel based area stuck. If that happens, Universal could re-strike up a deal with DC/Warner Bros, providing they work things out. To be honest, I can see Disney screwing up the license use with Universal over the Marvel characters since it "could" cause confusion. The character use Universal is allowed to use is based off the comic designs of the characters and not the movie adaption. So when you see Captain American, you see his iconic 50s image. :/
Oh. Oh, yeah. I can see why this never happened. Don't get me wrong, it sounds like the most fricking incredible place that would ever exist. But I've got to be realistic, here- this place would empty the national treasury all in the name of a guy who dresses like a bat. Ten stores, more rides than you can shake a stick at- fun does come at a price. The people over at Universal must have been smoking crack when they dreamed this thing up. I mean, it's a whole frickin' universe and they also plan to make Dr. Seuss land and Looney Tunes land AND Dudley Do-right land AND Popeye land? That's insane? I'd rather just watch the Batman movie- tickets to this place must have been planned at a thousand smackers a pop. They were excited about all the fun they could have, and I get this- but with this thing they went in over their heads.
Wow! This is all very expensive and extravagant! Great ideas but there was no money to back this up so that's probably why it was scrapped. But there are a little too many resturants in one land.
Really great video! I just found your channel and I absolutely love your content! I love never built concepts!! I subscribed! I hope to see more concepts and maybe some collaborations with similar content channels
There's a whole theme park on the gold Coast in Australia called Warner bros movie world it has a area of dc and looney tunes kids area it's awesome I don't know whether it's anything like this because I only just heard about this land at usf
Yeah, it came into existence right after this all fell through, almost like it was a back up plan and it has incredibly similar concepts for rides. A lot of Australians probably don't realise that there are Warner Bros. Movie World parks in other countries and I've been to them all apart from the one in Abu Dhabi. I can't believe Americans haven't heard of these parks and that the creator of this video didn't even mention them.
I would honestly love to see project X in general, the comic strip and dr suess lands exist in islands but I really want to see those other lands too, especially this one. Do you think they might do something with that new park they’re working on?
I can’t believe they came up with all that. But in my experience of imaginative ideas, ideas are always huge and therefore questionable. Gotham City is an idea that is to huge and a miss
Well Gotham City and Metropolis were in some way built at Warner Bros Movie World Madrid. Certainly it's not as inmersive as it was originally thought, but they give it a good try
Other attraction how have element sof the Gotham concept is The man in black. The took inspiration of bat wing. But it is a shame that this concept of Gotham was never go pass the conceptual art :(
Could you imagine if this created a Disney world type park where it could have gotham, metropolis, star city, and others that would've been amazing, and I think if WB was ahead of Disney I think we could've got that.

TH-cam has yet to figure out what I like-- because I would have clicked on this 3 months ago if I had seen it..... Great job! New subscriber.
This was a fascinating video with an impressive amount of info and visual material! I hope you get more exposure! 👍
Since Disney has Mickey Mouse and Marvel attractions, Universal should make a DC Comics ride and a Looney Tunes area.
This has a bunch of deep DC cuts. I thought it’d just be Batman stuff but no they wanted to roll out the whole DC universe.

This Gotham city area seems awesome but at lest there are various takes on a Dc area in six flags parks
Yeah, but they aren't a full island, this would be a full one
Great video very well done thanks for this information I never knew this was a concept for IOA!!
Let's not forget around this time Six Flags was trying to build a park near St Augustine, FL about an hour north of Orlando.
The question is now, why won’t Six Flags take over concept especially for their premier parks. Also create the Looney Tune land as well.
This was Amazing! Thank you!
Somebody should seriously contact/start a petition and bring this to there attention!!
yeah they also have Scooby and the gang as meet and greet characters.
Actually a Gotham City area is happening in Abu Dhabi in the UAE at the WB theme park opening in the summer of 2018
This would’ve been so cool. Very high quality video. I love these kind of videos. You got a new subscriber!
I wish DC comics was owned by another company
rayblack2004: Well it’s only a matter of time until Disney buys everything, maybe they’ll eventually buy DC and Warner Brothers.
Hopefully Universal buys DC and WB.
Is that possible? I really hope so.
Universal has a strong relationship with WB, especially with the Harry Potter franchise. Though DC and Universal couldn't come to an agreement on the project discussed in this video, they have partnered for other projects.
AT&T
It would have been cool to see how this park changed over the years with the comics and movies- I wonder if it would have done away with Robin after Dark Knight?
That's a dam shame when millions of people miss out on a good thing cause board of director's fight over money. Gotham City would have been an awesome idea but even though they had a bunch of great show rides, there was no mentions of any Batman or Joker roller coasters which would have crowned the park. Maybe one day when Six Flags close their doors for good (won't miss them) Universal can buy the rights and move the batman coaster to Universal.
The Batman theme park of my dreams....Why didn't they do it!
I....................still want Gotham City
Um why isn’t this Gotham World existing now? If only an irl Bruce Wayne can buy the rights to build a Gotham City and Metropolis amusement park :/ this would be a dream come true.
Jeez lueeze this land and rides sounds like a hella cool place to be! Too bad this never happened. -also it should’ve been called Hero City, bc of the variety of dc heroes-
Being a universal passholder and going more than the average person this is a great video! Those rides would have been very cool to see. So glad I found this channel.
This sounds amazing. Good ideas don't die; so I hope it becomes a reality, someday.
Ive been putting a lot of thought into a Batman ride at Universal for almost a year, then stumble on this video!
never heard of this before. Very interesting video. Can't wait to watch your other material. keep up the good job.
I honestly didn't know something like this was even being planned (at one time, that is) until I saw this! Thanks! 👍🏻
Luckygirl From my understanding, Universal has an ironclad contract.
Oh.
This project sounds amazing...I feel like it’s a shame this never came to be
Really great video!
Very interesting video, it's a shame that some of these ideas were never built, because the rides looked pretty good.
That....
Would be a fucking sick land to have at Universal Studios
I would honestly love to see project X in general, the comic strip and dr suess lands exist in islands but I really want to see those other lands too, especially this one. Do you think they might do something with that new park they’re working on?
There is a Gotham City in Arlington at six flags over Texas that is almost complete. They are updating Harley Quinn spinsanity.
What a shame this didn't happen. Sounds so cool.
Why would they get rid of this? It would have been awesome.
Ugh my inner child is enraged stamping his foot because that all sounds so badass
I can’t believe they came up with all that. But in my experience of imaginative ideas, ideas are always huge and therefore questionable. Gotham City is an idea that is to huge and a miss
Capped Crusader’s Crotch
10/10 best line ever
Great video! Audio levels need some work though. The voice overs are much lower than any of the clip volumes
Great video. Got yourself a subscriber! Also, did you have a cold when you recorded this?
Really interesting video! Never knew about any of this. Subbed.
This made hungry for that awesome Batman cereal from my childhood!
I like the video but the audio level changes were ANNOYING!!!!! Thanks though. Please fix the audio and I'll subscribe.
Brentsfriend your mama
I'm surprised they haven't made a reupload by now.
Y the fuck dos this not happen😫😖😱😰😤😥😭😔
I wish we would’ve gotten that instead of Marvel Superhero Island.
I love the idea of Gotham City at Universal Studios
Well Gotham City and Metropolis were in some way built at Warner Bros Movie World Madrid. Certainly it's not as inmersive as it was originally thought, but they give it a good try
4:54: Golly, Superman sure can eat! He reminds me of Garfield.
That would have been "VERY INTERESTING" if that went through.
Omg, please make this happen WB 😩😩😩
they were going all out with this dang
Don't know why it fails predicting it was due to the sheer scale of the project
Would you ever do a viseo on sega world in sydney? Just found out sbout it and i thought ut was such a strange idea.
If Warner Bros Movie World had Gotham City there it would be more awesome
I bet everything at that kryptonian restaurant would have been made with avocado and pesto
they were going all out with this damn
they were going all out with this
6:57
Lol at the Kiss Cartoon logo
Yay, it's back up!
Other attraction how have element sof the Gotham concept is The man in black. The took inspiration of bat wing. But it is a shame that this concept of Gotham was never go pass the conceptual art :(
Joker's Wild could've been awesome.
Looking at today's universal this would feel weird
