The G9 is a gentleman of a car. Looks humble and smart, yet packed to the brim with substance. It's also the first unmodified, mass-produced EV to qualify for autonomous robotaxi testing. It will really stamp its mark when XNGP launches next year.
Agree. It's a look that doesn't shout but looks quite elegant anyway. With XNGP, including City and Highway, it should be a really solid seller for XPeng.
Unfortunately I don't see it happening in the next two years at least, it's a big shift for any of the new brands to invest in RHD given the lower volumes, but don't rule it out forever. NIO have indicated they'll be going to the UK maybe next year, Great Wall are already there, so I'd predict late 2024 or 2025 as a potential entry for XPeng, but who knows, maybe earlier if momentum picks up.
Superb reviews The G9 is gorgeous, can't wait until it comes to Europe. Beside its look, it has xpeng's in-house build technology: 1- full scenario XNGP 2-An amazing voice command that enables 4 peoples (or more) to simultaneously give an input without a key word activation
Thanks very much. It's true their R&D work is top notch (I believe 40% of their team is R&D), they just needed a car worthy of it. I think the G9 is finally that car.
Stunning looking interior!!! That 0-100 time for the 4X4 model is amazing, I love good acceleration! Not so interested in going ridiculously fast top speed, especially where I live as it's just asking for issues but acceleration from the lights are what I like 😁.
All I can say about this car is DAMN!! This car is amazing. It is astounding just how much this car packs. You need to play some audio so I can get a sense of the sound system. Thanks for the drop.
Very nice. Basically everything you will ever need and then some. I only miss the option to move the back seats forward and back and also to have a 40-40-20 split instead of the 60-40. Or atleast a big ski hatch. For families with two kids, the ability to fold the center seat brings a lot of versatility for the boot. Roof load? What rack system? VTL?
Yeah, you don't see many 40:20:40s in China, if ever actually. Would be good with a sliding rear bench though. No info on roof rack or rack system I'm afraid, but V2L yes. I believe about 3.3kWh.
Thank you very much. This car will certainly be coming to Germany at some point, the question will be on price. I think it'll certainly be competitive but they do tend to get more expensive when they arrive in Europe partly due to tariffs.
The voice assistant is amazing allowing multi-user control and don't get me started on the screens and 5G connectivity to allow my passengers to be entertained when I'm focus on driving.
It's a good point Liz. Unfortunately we ran out of daylight before I could get to discussing the ride but it was as comfortable as you would expect from a car with dual chamber air suspension and it wasn't phased by Guangzhou's occasionally shocking road surfaces. In terms of drive, it was lightning quick, rear biased as the power ratio would attest, and the steering was fairly direct since the wheels are in the corners. I wouldn't say it was any more or less engaging than most other accomplished cars on the market, most cars sold in China tend to have light steering and a comfort oriented ride, so you need to put the steering into sport mode to really get any meaningful feedback.
Excellent review! The more I see about the G9 the more I think about buying one. Maybe some day it will be available in 🇨🇦. We would have to give up our Model Y though, or Model 3. Hmmm 🧐
Thanks Reginald. It is a great vehicle, particularly so because XPeng have been making decent cars with some stupid mistakes but this one they got spot on. For the price there's no EV like it that I've found. L9 is brilliant but it's much more expensive and not a full EV.
Yes, you can expect to see it in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands this year, I guess deliveries maybe towards the end of the year. They may expand to more countries in 2023 as well I guess, likely Germany next.
Next year my Tesla 3 will be 400000km after five years of good services (I’m a driver in the Champagne area) and I’m very interested by this car. Has it a frunk ? Very useful for small luggage with the 3.
Would be good to see any electric estate at this point, but seems most manufacturers are moving away from them. Not enough sales apparently, which is a real shame. MG5 works though
Sure. I understand they're currently reshuffling their production to focus on the G9 and then they'll be ready for China and four European countries with likely expansion next year I guess. Currently Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Netherlands I think. Germany is a logical next step if they follow the NIO path.
@@InsideChinaAuto it's a big shame, almost doesn't make sense. The charging coild isn't thick, it's jist a blade thickness, so failing to have two charge plates beats my mind... when Li9/8/7 boast of two.
@Jay_GT Awesome, glad you're enjoying your G3 mate. I'm in Shanghai but if I get back to GZ before I get an L9 I'll let you know. I'm hoping to have one in about Feb/March time. Really appreciate your offer!
Very, very nice SUV . The only thing that I dislike is, the big screens in interior. I don't understand why they think that is look good? Probably they see that on Tesla , and they thought that is looking good but, guess what, looks very bad.
It is a really nice car. As for the screens, it's a cultural thing. In China, connectivity is more important than the actual drive so models with big screens where they can enjoy their movies or TV shows in comfort are the key selling points.
Very nice car, does it actually have speakers in the headrest? I thought that was on some trim of the P7, unless they made them much smaller I'm not sure where they would be. Also there it IIRC only one side of the central console that has a Qi charger.
It does indeed have speakers in the headrest. Those in the P7 were much more pronounced, the headrest was much bigger than the passenger side headrest, but I believe they've been better integrated this time. The centre console has wireless charging for two phones so both sides get it, like in the AITO M7 I believe, though the AITO has faster chargers than other brands.
There is a frunk (honestly I always forget about them because for me, opening the bonnet under the steering wheel makes it not a very convenient space, even if it's good for cables). As for V2L, I believe it is possible at 3.3kWh.
Just tested one in Denmark last week, the long range model. It’s a wonderful drive. I’m missing the auto pilot software and some other software related bits and bobs, so can’t give full verdict yet. But the basic setup is very impressive. Good camera for parking lot, with cm distance on screen to stuff behind. Funky sound at low speed for pedestrians, it sounds like a spaceship 😂. Good acceleration even if it’s not the all wheel version. Good on bumps on the road and good road noice(low). The consumption seems great too from my little test. I need a new test with auto pilot and some driving in my neighbourhood, to see if it can seal the deal, but it’s a serious contender for my new car.
It is, but I believe they have something else up their sleeve in the 3 row category, just not an SUV, at least if the spyshots show what we think they do.
These are all great brands and cars and, in my experience, just as good if not better than many European counterparts and certainly very spacious. I believe all are coming to Europe except Li who didn't get announce such plans.
@@InsideChinaAuto yeah its cool nice design n also has kick foot sensor btw what's ur opinion about why nio es7 is more expensive than g9? I think g9 its really nice suv
@number19real I can't really comment on why the price difference but I think NIO position themselves as a more premium brand and price accordingly, but on comparable tech I think the G9 wins here. NIO mustn't be seeing demand for more than one square screen but XPeng, Li Auto and others seem to think differently.

This is really good, very soon all the over priced German and American car prices will be force down.
Thanks Kendozouir, it is a really good car. The Chinese are coming.
@@InsideChinaAuto Is there any possibility they will be producing for the UK market because use the right hand steering here?

Dynaudio is a very high end hifi company.
I think it would be much easier for Brittain to admit they were wrong and simply change to driving on the right side.

It's a great interior, and not a moment too soon from XPeng. Feels very premium and the screens are really good.
It is amazing 👏 😍 as I imagined before watching this video, it has everything what modern electric can offer on a great value. 10/10. Best wishes!
It's a very good car indeed. Sure XPeng will have high expectations for it when sales and production is fully up and running.

Very detailed description, nice video
Thank you, much appreciated.
This is the best car I've test driven compared to NIO LI BYD. Extremely modern and it's tech easily beats the likes of Tesla !
The voice assistant is amazing allowing multi-user control and don't get me started on the screens and 5G connectivity to allow my passengers to be entertained when I'm focus on driving.
Excited to wait for NGP to be rolled out
It is very good. To be fair, the L9 is also excellent, but it's more expensive and isn't a full EV. The G9 is a real statement from XPeng.
Beautiful !!!!!!
It is. A very pretty SUV.
It would be nice to know how it drives apart from kw/Nm

Great review, I like the G9!
Thanks very much. Glad you like it.
Im assuming the massage in the back is not the same as in the front? I am so desperate to drive this G9, have seen one in the UK!
Not sure, it's been updated since I reviewed this one so things may have changed since. Great that they're testing in the UK. Launch imminent.

Can we have review at dark place just for car lighting?
Absolutely.
Great review
Thanks AB. Glad you liked it.
Looks like someone jsut improved the Mitsubishi Outlander's design quite a bit.
Handsome car
😎👍 Xpeng is good!
Both the P7 and the P5 are good cars but the G9 is definitely a few steps up on them.
Why you compare with the half price model how big roof panel is and speaker.. that's why the car is twist the price of the others model.
Because the half price model has them, the twice the price model doesn't. The point is the cheaper car is offering significantly more value.
Looks great practical EV SUV similar like Gasoline ,,,,production, & overseas market reach is their weakness

Good deal, I like the dual 15 inch screen setup the most.
It's very impressive. Looks the part and is the part, for a very good price. They really delivered on this one.
The qi wireless charge plate is single, not twin, is it?
You're right. I've double checked with XPeng and only the left side space is a wireless charger, which is a bit of a shame. Both would have been nice.
