  • Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities says the earnings call for Elon Musk's Tesla was a "train wreck." Ives says they needed an "adult in the room," and no one showed up. Tesla narrowly missed on earning estimates after the company cut prices to boost sales. He is on "Bloomberg Surveillance."

Who wants to wait a decade to get lost money back from investing in Tesla at these levels. For Ives to say Tesla will have a trillion dollar valuation in the near term is laughable. Based on what? Pure speculation on unrealistic assumptions.

The thing that will take Tesla to $1T is Tesla Energy. Energy is the biggest sector in the economy, and Tesla is in pole position to dominate the World electrical grid with their MegaPack. Tesla projects a 3000× battery capacity increase is required to transition to renewables. They just increased production by 125% you. And they are earning 50% profits with a 2 year wanting list. It's basically a mint.

They misinterpreted “I’m not looking for additional economics”. This statement from Musk was about the prospect of dual class shares, not the future earnings of Tesla. In essence, he’s saying he doesn’t seek a 25% economic stake in Tesla, but rather 25% voting rights. This is an important and fundamental point to have misunderstood.

Why anyone not talking about the BIG ASS ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM; which is Elon’s antics. His dabbling into right wing politics and the whole Twitter Cluster “Ferk”, and his blabbering about DEI has hurt the company. I know a relative of mine, who was about to purchase a Tesla, changed her mind because of Elan’s antics. I trimmed my position in the stock and put my focus on NVDA; which in hindsight was a fantastic move. His Board must rein him in. If they don’t, his antics will cause people to lose A LOT of money!!! I agree he is a smart guy; but he has lost my confidence…albeit, I owe him tremendous credit and gratitude for my early bet on Tesla Stock.

BYD and Tesla make an interesting contrast in many ways. Only the future will tell what works out best. Obviously much depends on not where they are at but rather where they go from here. There is room for both. BYD needs to step up to the plate and scrap the money sucking stealership model. As automation ramps up the labor content of cars will approach zero. Highly automated lines run about twice as fast.
