Man I wish there alternative songs would have gotten the attention their pop songs got... Sugar Ray will always be one of my all time favorite bands Floored was one of my first cassette tapes and I loved nearly EVERY song on that tape!!!
Wonderful!! I would say; going on 7 or 8? Or you asked your parents to write for you....6 yr old is young to write so well! Please, keep up the good job!
@@nolandavis2927 more Nu Metal/funk metal but yeah im sure they were influenced by some grunge bands too.. but i got a Red hot chili peppers,Faith no more,Mr. Bungle and Primus vibe from them mostly.. with some Helmet and maybe Rollins Band thrown in there on their first two albums.. their best albums
What!? Bit your tongue, sir! Nah, I doubt even die hard fans would argue with that. Look no further than Mark McGrath's "hosting" career,, if you will. Extra is a scourge upon humanity.
@@davidvr83 that song is OK if left on rotation and strictly background music if ever played but if u have females around definitely play When Its Over and Scuzz Boots especially
@lisahulbert4143 All their albums are like that, a mesh of different rock styles and what not. Floored was the same way, it was a mesh of hard rock and punk and fly. 14:59 was a response to the critics calling them one hit wonders and that they couldn't repeat the success of fly, hence the album name 14:59... as in 1 sec left of their 15 mins of fame that they say everyone gets.
I didn't see a problem with having commercial success "Fly" was a great song, and I loved hearing it on the radio all summer long, It's just after that they just kept rewriting it, all their songs sounded like "fly" sideways...But this and "Mean Machine" just kicked ass!
Eu procurava por esta música a anos... lembrava que seu nome era R.P.M, porém, não tinha certeza de qual era a Banda! Porra, que som animal... me faz voltar em meados dos anos 90! I was looking for this song for years ... remembered that his name was RPM, however, was not sure what the band! Damn, that sound animal ... takes me back in the mid 90's!
I heard this song for the first time two years ago, and it absolutely blew my mind! It's so frigging tight, powerful and inspiring. It gets me riled up to take on the world.
I mean they did a pop song as a bit of a joke, everyone loved it, they made real money and decided to run with it as the defining moment of their career. Crazy but... Idk, can't fully blame them if they still enjoyed it.
I remember hearing this song after Fly and thinking there was no way it was the same band. I wish they had done more tunes like this one. It's just tight sounding and well produced.
So gutted I missed Sugar Ray when they came to New Zealand back in about 1999/2000, would love to see RPM & Mean Machine live... someday... The more mainstream style on later albums all good too.
For some reason, accessing this morning via youtube this thrilling RPM music video song by Sugar Ray unexpectedly reminded me/helped jog my memory of a sleeptime dream I had less than 9 hours ago where I was at some fun music club, bar andor restaurant type of atmosphere similar to this music video where people were having a good time similar to the actors and actresses portrayed in this music video, I am lucky to have first heard this song by Sugar Ray around the time I was 17 years old via radio airplay.
I also love Sugar Ray. I love both their old stuff and their newer stuff. Sometimes I'll listen to the Floored cd or I'll listen to their later stuff. It really all depends on what mood I'm in.
I don't know if I ever thought this album was stellar. But I always remember thinking that what makes Sugar Ray such a drag is the potential this album had. Had they done what they did here but really turned it up a notch the following record could have been something very hard and very unique. Sadly... that is not what happened.
First heard this song when it came out and when the disc jockey said that it was Sugar Ray I was like oh hell no! What a bad ass song. This is probably my first time listening to it since the mid-nineties. What a pleasant surprise. Heavy as s*** too.
It was the record company that watered them down. They had a huge hit with "Fly" and it went all downhill from there. They WANT to rock out & at their live shows they play some of the heavy stuff.
Muchos años estuve esperando topar este video porque estaba seguro que era de sugar ray pero no recordaba como se llamaba o bien, aun no estaba por acá , gracias!!!!!!!
Wonder why they cut out a whole section of the song at 1:04. I remember the album version had some drums and scratching part there. Love this song, though. Speed Home California is awesome, too!
Recent help with other matters much kool. I know hard messages, not due to lack of understanding you are help to others of us needing it. Thanks much. This is very subliminal sound and prescient words. Enjoyed loads.

Holy shit, some dude was complaining how they didnt any of their heavy songs like mean machine or rpm. I thought "huh rpm sounds cool" little did i know that i have heard this song, YEARS ago. Holy shit
+Doug Prishpreed If only they never made Fly, and if they did, it never made success... I can't believe money went thought their heads instead of making what they loved
LombaxesAndOttsels Haha I totally agree. I heard the band wrote that song as a b-side but the drummer wanted it on "floored". Then there was the Mark McGrath teenie-bopper fan club that followed. Very weak. They played the game as boy band with instruments for some quick bucks instead of building a bigger fanbase over time and playing kickass rock. Smash mouth was another band to flip flop on their style and sell out.
Doug Prishpreed Fun fact: A guy from a pop band called Busted called Charlie Simpson used to sing for it, but over the years, he grew increasingly sick of his pop lifestyle. But on 2003, he met future band-mates Alex Westaway and Omar Abidi, and together they formed the post-hardcore/alternative metal band Fightstar, and he left Busted in 2005, with Fightstar's debut EP being released at the same year. A really hard move that Charlie actually managed to do. But he came back to Busted in 2015, reasons for which I don't know.
Aaron Drawbridge haha my wife was shocked when I played this song she asked who it was and I told her sugar ray when they were badass and she’s 9 years older than me and a big fan of them
I saw Sugar Ray in Carbondale, Illinois when they opened for 311 and it was right before this video came out. They were better in that open act than 311 were.
I remember when I getting "Floored" when I was kid. I was more familiar with Sugar Ray's softer songs like "Fly","Every Morning" & "Someday." Then I hear the album and hear heavier tracks like this song and I'm thinking "HOLY SHIT! THIS IS AWESOME." And to all the people that say Sugar Ray sucked after this album, sure I like their heavier albums better, but those slower songs I mentioned earlier are actually good songs. Plus, they did a much better job at going mainstream than Linkin Park did.
was an epic album. one of those years later i had a song pop into my head and i spent days with it there eventually to look it back up n download the album ^_^
It’s still a good song. I don’t remember it getting much airplay, but Mad Men where I was that just wasn’t getting the airplay. It didn’t seem that the record label force them to be watered down they could probably still rock out but they’re around my age now.
I still love the Floored album to this day. I've loved it for 11 years now. Lemonade & Brownies is still solid too. I was soooo disappointed when they went pop after Fly was such a hit single :(
i agree with you, i love their early stuff. I keep hoping they will do another rocking album. I got Mark to autograph my L&B cd, he was so cool about it. He signed it along the boarder so as not to ruin the great artwork.. cheers!
EXCELLENT song. Again, I added this back to a Pepsi CD promotion where you could make your own legal mixed CD by collecting Pepsi points. I could see just a bunch of confused frat kids scratching their heads hearing this on the album, but indeed it's a sleeper classic.

Holy Christ I havent heard this song since I was like 15. Love this freaking song.

Corvo Attano funny! I vote for a 40 years old man

Honestly, I love everything this band ever put together. It's really just a testament to their versatility.
I remember when this album came out , I just wish they kept the same style
This was released 4 presidents ago, people born when this was released are adults now.
As far as I'm concerned Sugar Ray are the definition of sellouts.
What!? Bit your tongue, sir! Nah, I doubt even die hard fans would argue with that. Look no further than Mark McGrath's "hosting" career,, if you will. Extra is a scourge upon humanity.
your right bro.. There better in their first Album
there 1st single if im not mistake 2nd fly
Been a fan of Sugar Ray for a REALLY long time... WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD THIS UNTIL NOW?!
NeonNavarro cause u suck. This is their early "amazing years" before they sold their souls
cause you're stuck in the basement with dial-up
Because you're not a fan
I guess you really aren't a big fan then.
Cuz you're really a dave navarro fan.
I remember folks being shocked at how vastly different this was from the band's airtime hits
Yeah....back when it came out a friend of mine said his mom bought this album. I was as like,.... Well what did she think?haha.
In a good way... I never liked Fly
@@davidvr83 that song is OK if left on rotation and strictly background music if ever played but if u have females around definitely play When Its Over and Scuzz Boots especially
It’s always really weird hearing a Sugar Ray song with distorted guitars and real drums. They sounded like a completely different band back then.
For the better.
The first two cds RULED
14:59 is really weird. Heavy metal into song, heavy 80s influence in many songs too
Only if you didn't become a fan until after the fly/14:59 era. True blue fans from the get go are very used to the distortion.
@lisahulbert4143 All their albums are like that, a mesh of different rock styles and what not. ❤ this song and especially seeing them perform this live! My College days were fun going to their live shows 🤘🏼🍒
My parents had this on CD when I was little. I remember that black and yellow jagged design on it. I always asked for the "race car sound song"
Jackson Berger lol
+Jackson In The Cut Holy shit you just read my memory... that's weird haha yeah I stole the Cd from my parents xD.
I literally found this comment again lol, I was gonna comment 'lol' but saw I already did that... time flies fast

One of my favorite CD's growing up.
One of the best album covers ever!
Mark's "it's me" face at 0:54 is my phone background. It always makes me laugh and scares everyone else. I just thought I would let you know :)

sampling car noises, so freaking cool ^_^ i loved this song as a kid in 97, and i love this song as an adult in 2017
This is the Sugar Ray I had known then they mellowed down... Still listening in 2023! 🤘

Floored was such a bad ass album, this being my favorite song off it.

The best video of this band reminiscent of my time on MTV Brazil
I always blasted this song when I played NASCAR Rumble. I had entire mixed cd dedicated to racing. I forgot how bad ass this jam was

My sugar ray experience was awesome seen them 3 times live before
Fuck, I bought this like in 99 with a smirk of "I´m the coolest, forever young!". Great song.
this is such a good song, awesome that they can go from this kind of heavy alternative to pop/ska. thank you 90's

You can't fuck with old-school Sugar Ray.
The "Floored" album was freakin' awesome. It's one of those rare CDs you can listen to all the way through.
Can i know the list of rare CDs
I got just a random thought. As much as we could love Sugar Ray, i'm pretty sure this is the favourite song of probably no one. Still a great one
Fave sugar ray song love the video....

sugar ray is a really good rocking group. they have some good rock songs this is just one example
I grew up on this album in my dads challenger, Fucking good no matter what anyone says
Suban el video ABRACADABRA DE SUGAR RAY...Este video es parecido a ABRACADABRA de Sugar Ray
Kickin it old school 👍🏻🤘🏻
I love all their stuff. They went through radical changes, but Sugar Ray has never put out an album I didn't love.
DJs were mandatory in the late 90s rock

I remember putting in NASCAR Full Throttle CD and have this song on repeat

The world could really use some new Sugar Ray music right now....
Dam they shoulda made more like this

listen to this or mean machine, then go and listen to there newest songs...sugar ray kicks ass hard and soft...awesome!

Top album lads. This and Lemonade and Brownies !!
the CD is the bomb it's nothing like fly
This song has my favorite all time Intro for any songs. 2nd place Bush "Everything Zen".
