- In this video, a team that has a tremendous amount of power. Actually, they have a great overall game, but, choose power most of the time to win points. Check it out.
The winning team is just amazing. I generally don't watch the bangers as I am playing but do find time every now and then and haven't seen any players where I play that can match these guys. Best I have seen. I'm in Florida and we have some serious players.
Wow! That's a huge compliment for those players.
Blue and maroon need to return high and lofted. giving the other team pace on the ball lets them really crank it. Block resets/aggressive counters at the feet also needed.
Good point. Thanks for watching.
lofting it to get it deep would be good but they weren't giving any pace on the returns. The power team have good enough footwork they can step in and crank a slow ball, especially if it bounces high. I agree the dark shirt guys should have been trying to soft block/reset most of those drives. They're never winning a firefight vs that team. Easier said than done though against that pace.
Absolutely! Tnanks for watching and commenting. @@webguru22
The guy in the Grey shirt is named John Letts, he's the founder of the iPickle brand in SoCal. You're right his rating at the time was ~5.2. He's a nice guy though, good teacher. He and his cohort hit the ball SO hard and rarely make mistakes (as you noticed). They're mostly former tennis players. And yeah it's intimidating and kinda demoralizing to play against them if you aren't similar skill level.
Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate you watching.
That dude on the winning team had a very impressive 2 handed backhand. In addition he had good footwork and a lot of variety. The way he kept his 2 handed backhand so low made it very tough to deal with. It would dip is a shot that would give a lot of players problems.
Those guys look like they could beat you with the fast game or slow game. It would be risky dinking with them cause their speed ups are unpredictable.
Yea Rory, that is good pickleball for sure. A total mismatch.
This is one of the best teams at this level I have seen on youtube. Very, very good.
Nice job, enjoyed the video. Thumbs up & subscribed. GOD, Guns & Gumbo
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for subscribing. I appreciate it.
This is the type of game I have to play every time I go to the park in California. If I want a soft game 8 have too find seniors. I don’t mind when the hard hits are aimed low toward the feet but 3.0 players just bang the ball hard as possible not controlling the ball causing me to get hit so hard that would be injured.
That's why I suggest players wear protective eyewear. I do. I've been hitting the face more than once. Thanks for watching.
I’m mostly a tennis player. But there is a lot more going on here than what you are drawing attention to.
Thanks for watching.
I agree with Eddie Thomas' last statement. That was a total mis-match.
I don't think Maroon hit one return deep in the court. He was just feeding easy balls to Grey and White. Blue was "a bit" better than Maroon, but not enough to make a difference.
Not so sure it demonstrated how overpowering another team can lead to victory ... as it demonstrated what two 4.5 players can do to 3.5 players. (It almost seemed as if the winning team was using this as a practice match. "Let's crush as many balls as we can and see how that goes.")
When playing against inferior players and you know you are going to win, it's a good time to work on shots that you want to get better at.
Rory,
You say the following in every video "The roll of the tape". Obviously a colloquialism as the tape itself never rolls but what are you referring to? Is that any ball that contacts the tape?
I've seen a cross-court dink roll ON the tape.
It just means the ball hit the tape and rolled over. Thanks for watching.
At 2:15, you say the guy in grey can't handle his opponent's 3rd shot drive because his feet are not set. I disagree.
What happened there is a near perfect execution of the guy in grey taking the pace off that drive with his soft return angled to the sideline. If the guy in grey had hit the ball a couple of inches higher, his opponent, still back at the baseline, could have never made it up to that ball.
The guy in grey is very good.
Thanks for watching. And thanks for your comment.
At the 13:35 mark, the ball is hit before the 2nd bonce. I thought that was illegal. What am I missing? Thanks, GOD, Guns & Gumbo
You're probably right. I didn't notice that. Thanks for your comment.
the vid picks up on the return. the playing partner is playing up.
That makes sense. Thanks so much! GOD, Guns & Gumbo
the near side time is just hitting some blocks and dinks too high which is charging the other teams offense
I think the players on the winning team are very, very good players.
agreed, one thing you didn't mention as much in your video is the topspin drive dipping almost to knee level, it's quite a tough shot to deal with for anybody much less someone that's slow to come up@@pickleballpick-apart9787
Wow.. barely any unforced errors.
Yep. Not bad.
Yeah, I'd be just another practice dummy for these guys.
Thanks for watching.
love Tyson but he's not the number 1 singles player
You're right. I thought at one time, for a short period, he was. Thanks for watching.
The waiting for a “premier” is extremely annoying. Please just post your videos.
Thanks for asking, but that's how it's done. I have all of my videos start at 10 in the morning.
No clue how to counter the bangers???
I think they're more than bangers. They each had an all-around game. Thanks for watching.
@@pickleballpick-apart9787, I'd agree they're more than bangers. You might already know that one of the guys on the winning team is John Letts, former pro tennis player. Thanks for your great commentary.
They aren't bangers - much scarier.. They can play with power and control. They aren't just hitting great shots, they are setting it all up. This is a great team. So the way to beat them is hit great shots and hopefully make fewer mistakes. Putting pressure on them isn't easy it seems! The problem is they aren't one dimensional, bangers do drives and not much else well. If you can handle their drives, you can probably outplay them unless you're a banger as well. Bangers are intimidating at 3.0 but not so scary at 3.5+ . But these guys aren't bangers -lol.
It’s the future, all the signs are there. Without new rules restrictions tennis players will completely change the game and it can’t be stopped without rule changes
@@Abbiedupre7Are you referring to rule changes to the technology to reduce the amount of power or something else?
