Happy New Year to you Susan !! I have never had the pleasure of going to the Attic, good to know it will be there for another five years !! What a delight it was to hear Jeans thoughts. She is amazing and wonderful from what everyone says! I hope you can continue your friendship with your two new friends. I met my dear friend of 20 years now at the V and A in England while looking at Samplers. If we had not taken the time to say hello and exchange emails, what a loss that would have been. She is an amazing talented woman , who I am privileged to know 😊❤️
Well, I’m not first to comment, but I am here to tell you it was a great video. The interview of two of the participants of Sampler Symposium was exactly what a retreat at the Attic is like-the comradery of stitchers, making new friends and learning new things to enhance our art. It’s really hard to pack all that into 2 1/2 days, but it’s so enjoyed by everyone. Then the interview of Ms Jean Lea, herself. What a great idea to get the down low on the beginnings of such an empire!! And to think it was her hubby who initiated it all. What a man!! What a couple!! Of course, it was great to see and talk with you again and I so look forward to future retreats where we can get to share more! Thanks!!
Hello Carlene!!!!! It was fantastic to see you again and as always the time is too short. I am thrilled you enjoyed the conversations!!!! All three said so very much and showed what happens when we all get together!!!! I really look forward to our next gathering at the Attic! Until then I wish you many hours of peaceful stitching 🧵!!!
Though I had the opportunity to visit The Attic twice (tied in with trips to AZ) Summer School 2023 was the first retreat I attended. I went on my own not knowing what to expect and a little apprehensive. To this day I zoom weekly with a friend I met at my table at the retreat. We hardly stitch at all (!) - but talk about our lives and all sorts of things. Our friendship came about because of Jean and her vision. So although my friend lives in AZ and I'm on the East Coast, we keep in touch like we live next door. What a gift. So thank you for this wonderful interview.
Oh, Peg, your story is exactly what I want people to know about! There is truly some magic in the air and new friendships are born and connections are made, and it is just such a wonderful time. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and I truly hope we can meet at an event someday!
Susan, how special! Thank you for sharing your interviews! Jean is such an inspiration! I loved her red outfit! She just shines! I know personally how great The Attic is and that feeling that overcomes you when you walk in the front door! It’s a wonderful shop and Jen makes it! So happy you were able to attend the Symposium! I am going to be in AZ for a ew weeks of February and can’t wait! 😜
Oh, Susan! What beautiful interviews - it so warms my heart to listen to your new friends. And, it’s so true how this community is so embracing. I am so sad I could not attend as planned and meet everyone, especially Jean Lea - she is such a treasure and so look forward to meeting her one day! Her story is compelling and completely understand how her passion for this art and her shop sustain and give her joy! Thank you again - this is beyond delightful!
I hope you felt like a part of it all as you watched. This event and the influence of the Attic extends beyond the location. The impact of Miss Jean is felt everywhere !!!! I hope you are able to visit the Attic one day and experience the joy in person. Thank you for watching!!!
Thank you Sarah!!!. Anyone who has met her knows she is a beautiful soul inside and out. I’m so glad we could share the Attic experience last year. Take care my friend.
Thank you for sharing this flosstube! Absolutely loved every second of it! As soon as I heard Sarah’s voice she brought back so many memories as we spent 4 years in England and one of our children was born there. So not only did I get to share in the three of yours’ friendship and lovely reaction and interchanges with each other (just like you all were friends forever!) but I also had tons of memories flood back to me because of the sound of her voice. Thank you Sarah. Maybe someday my situation will change and I’ll be able to come to a retreat and experience it first hand. I’m use to being the “Lone Ranger” so that isn’t going to be a thing that stops me! And to top it all off with Jean. She is such a lovely person and an inspiration. The story of how she became the face and driving force of the Attic was delightful to hear. Her shop is on my list of hopefully being able to go to also. TH-cam must have done some changes as I wasn’t able to see my notifications or comment on flosstubes since sometime in December but thankfully I was able to discover a way around as I certainly wanted to tell you thank you for this most delightful flosstube.
Thank you Mary Ellen I loved hearing your story and your reaction is priceless! I hope by watching this you felt like you were there in some small way. I wanted everyone to share in the beauty of the experience. Jean really is a treasurer and am so honored to know her. Thank you again for your lovely comment and take care.
Bravo Susan! What a wonderful video. Both interviews were wonderful. I am trying to schedule two retreats a year if possible. I attended Stitch Con in 2022 and had to cancel a Hobby House retreat last year because my husband had a kidney transplant. This year I am registered for the cross stitch extravaganza at Quilters Station and The Sampler is my life II at Hobby House. There is nothing better than sharing your passion for needlework with friends; whether old or new. I hope to get to the Attic in 2025 and hopefully get to meet you in person sometime. You are a pleasure to watch ❤
Thank you so much Ruth all of your plans sound fantastic and I certainly do hope that we meet up in 2025 at the Attic! Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment
Wonderful video!! This is my 1st time watching but it definitely won't be my last. I have never been to the Attic but its on my bucklist. Im 73 so i don't travel much but want to definitely want to see this shop.
I hope your dreams come true and you are able to visit the Attic. you will not regret it! I hope this gave you a little taste of the delightful interactions and amazing people who frequent the shop and events. It truly is a fabulous experience.
Oh Susan, you are such a gift! I loved this entire episode...it expresses the full breathe of what these connections are like...I hope more people will consider the importance of these connections.
This was such a nice video, Susan, and the interviews were excellent. I attended SS last year, not knowing anyone, and it’s so true that you find friends! And, yes, I agree with the comment that watching flosstube is like having a friend in the room.
This was a very special video! I loved the interview with Jean. John is my new hero! It is true about friendships made at Attic events. Thank you for this sweet inspirational recap of Sampler Symposium
Hi my friend!!!! I missed seeing you at the event and I hope we can cross paths this year❤❤❤ thank you for watching and commenting. I loved hearing from you 😊
So happy you interviewed Jean Lea and memorialized how The Attic came to be the shop we know and love. We owe so much to Jean's vision and passion for this art and yet she remains so humble and inclusive. Glad to neet you in person and wish there was more time to visit; the weekend just flies by.
It was fantastic to meet you Roberta!!! The weekend really does fly by and I always wish I had more time to spend with people but I’m so glad to connect with you and I look forward to future events where we can stay in touch.
Thank you so much for doing this, Susan! The recaps everyone does are good but it was great to hear people’s firsthand experience and so wonderful to hear from Miss Jean herself about how special the whole experience (the retreat and the store) is. My sister and I attended together and it was our first time at any retreat. We ended up at Carrie’s table and became fast friends. Thanks again for sharing and I look forward to hearing more about your plans for 2024.
Oh, I’m so glad to know that you were with Carrie! You must’ve had such a great time together, and I wish I had been able to meet you! It really was wonderful and I’m still reliving it❤
What a lovely interview! You asked just the right questions, and captured not only the joy of the attendees, but also the lovely grace and knowledge of Jean Lea . Just beautiful!
Oh I am so honored that you watched Judy!!!! Thank you so much. I agree Jean is the most gracious of people and such a huge asset to this Crosstitch community. You are truly a gracious soul as well!
Thank you for this wonderful episode Susan and for giving us an inside glimpse of the people and their stories. I love hearing all about the Attic retreats! Happy stitching -Carolyn
I’m so glad to hear that you felt connected Betty! That’s the goal!!!!! thank you so much for watching and I hope you’re able to get lots of stitches in today
How wonderful, well done, Susan. A lovely, personal glimpse behind the curtain. I was so pleased to meet you at the retreat, and to convey my appreciation of your work in person. ♥ I look forward to your next video.
Always a pleasure to watch anything at all you put up here, Susan. This was wonderful. Even though I did not attend anything at The Attic, I did go to The Great British Sampler Weekend this past fall in England, and had much the same experience. Very fun, inspiring, and wonderful to meet so many other people who have similar interests! Thanks especially for the interview with Jean - such a wonderful and humble person. I can well imagine that being at The Attic is inspiring and fantastic!
Oh, thank you so much for your lovely comment and I wish I could sit down and talk to you about the Great British Sampler weekend!!!! So glad you felt connected to this event at the Attic. It’s always wonderful when stitchers get together. This event is so magical because of the wonderful Jean Lea.❤
Wonderful interviews! I'm so glad you made time to create these memories to share with us! One of the many highlights of my time there was getting to give you a hug! I also met Sarah... she came up and introduced herself and said she may be coming to my area to visit family so I promptly offered to go antiquing with her😍 Meeting Jean was a dream come true and her calm, beautiful spirit is clearly why we make the journey to the mecca that is the Attic. I can't say enough wonderful things about the Symposium and hope there are many more in my future. Love you friend!🌹🌹🌹
Oh Katherine, it was so wonderful to meet you face-to-face and hug you back! The event was wonderful and it’s the people who make it even more spectacular. I can’t wait to hear about your meet up with Sara. It’s just a big world of wonderful Stitching out there and I’m so glad to be a part of it.
Thank you Susan - this was wonderful! I was just there, and yet this brought me right back to the warm and welcoming cocoon of stitching love and joy that is the Attic and all the wonderful people there, most especially Miss Jean. She enriches all of our lives.
She certainly does and I’m so glad we could experience this event in person! It leaves you with the feeling that you don’t want to hold close to your heart! Thank you for watching Katie
It was great to meet you at Sampler Symposium. It was so much fun meeting everyone. I’m new to silks, and have to say I’m afraid I may get addicted to them! They really are wonderful to work with.
What lovely interviews with Miss Jean and your two new friends. Thank you for doing that!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching
