There's clearly nothing stunt-like about this. That's a serious young woman making a serious effort and doing it brilliantly. Still cool, but a lot more than that.
Simply amazing. Watching on the big screen, the sound of the engine like flying over my head. Then in the air we couldnt even hear the engine. So I guess that engine noise was picked up from a micrphone on the ground? I am surprized that her hands didnt freeze Jer
Yes it's a microphone that is on the ground... The one from the camera is nothing but engine noise. I'd love to figure out something better but it's just not my forte. she ended up landing because her hands were getting cold.
I was visiting a small airport where ultralights were flying . While a couple of us were standing around talking we noticed an ultralight going out of the hanger and began going around and around out of control. We ran out to see what was happening and as we got there I could see two feet hanging out from under the tail end. We grabbed the wings while another guy shut the engine off. After the dust cleared a man crawled out from under the tail dusting himself off and said he did think he could hang on much longer and was glad we got there and did. The pilot of the plane said the battery was dead and the engine wouldn’t start so he decided to crank it by hand and forgot to turn the throttle down. Not a good decision.
The Pilots who impressed me most in life are the Thunderbirds Squadron and among them, especially Colonel Nicole Malachowski. I think it could be great for Alina to have some advice from her.
Great video I enjoy it I love flying my plane around the inlet and down the beach and rivers me and a friend was down your way, but this time we were in his boat
Your mic (Dad) seems like it's always on. Is it an audio from your phone? And the vid is pretty shakey too. It's a trial, for sure. Thanks for taking us along.
It's a Kawasaki 440cc snowmobile engine. It takes about 2 minutes for the engine to warm up to temperature, but really it's probably 10 minutes or more before takeoff power is applied. It's a CDI ignition so no mag check. On runways under 2,500 ft, she will do a hop which is a takeoff and Landing on the runway which serves as an ops check.
Just subscribe to your channel going to catch up on some of your videos looks very interesting I do flight videos on flight simulator 2020 but I've always wanted to get involved in what you're doing be careful and happy contrails
@@williamh.scottv438 I`m sure they will. If not, there are lot of other ways to be a pilot.....if pilot is her goal for the future of course ;) Good luck
Why are the EGT's so important? Why not just monitor the CHT's, those are the things that can melt? I know they are usually related, but in my plane, it's all about keeping the CHT's below their limit. EGT's, not so important.
The 2 stroke manufacturer has CHT and EGT ranges. Seizing, the one of the main causes of engine failure in a 2 stroke, can come quickly if you operate out of those limits.
@@williamh.scottv438 I learned something new about 2-strokes. "CPL22 the EGT is THE most important gauge on a 2 stroke, on a 4 stroke it is an option. On an air cooled 2 stroke the cht also is important, but by the time you mixture goes lean and you see the cht rise the engine will have already gone quiet." So it appears that EGT is a quicker indicator of what's to come. Thanks.
I never thought I would live to see the day when a pilot is distracted by the electronics on an ultralight breezy. Private strip or not, get your head out of the cockpit, or rather out of the frame tubes, establish a scan, use a checklist so you don't take off with the choke on. You are obviously a born pilot with great stick-and-rudder skills, but distractions are dangerous. Congratulations--the sky is now yours to enjoy.
Look, still no evidence of a checklist being used, written or spoken. When you get to the Air Force, you will spend your flying life dominated by checklists so you should be using them now.The Military use checklists for absolutely everything so you need to get into that mindset right now. A very handy checklist that applies to all aircraft is TooManyPilotsForgetImportantChecksToday. Trim, Throttle, Mixture (or choke!), Mags, Master, Pitch, Pumps, Flaps, Fuel, Flight Controls, Ignition, Instruments, Carb heat, Choke, Hatches, Harnesses, Transponder, Timer. that's before you even taxy out. You also took your hands off the primary flight control twice. You won't get away with that in the Air Force Candidate Selection. Please use checklists from now on.
All I know about this Aerorlite is it looks like more fun than should be legal, and I want one. I also want this young lady or her father to check me out on it. I learned on J-3 Cubs and Aeronca Champs back further than I care to remember. Simple routine. Run-up, mags and carb heat check, controls all free and move in the proper direction, and as I took the runway my instructor would say "Heat's off, trim set, pattern clear". As a flight instructor, I always said the same thing to my students. I didn't use a written checklist until I got to the airlines. It was all in my head. 36 year airline career and of couse everything was regulated by checklists without fail, but even as a 747 captain I STILL ran in my head "Heat's off, trim set, pattern clear" as I took the runway.
For such a simple machine the checklist is easy to memorise. That's one of the reasons so many professional pilots fly SEPs for pleasure. In a two seat version of a simple aircraft like this I would trust Alina to fly me without using checklists nor would I expect her to.
Irish Military as an aircraft mech but flew many many times in the job. ..... Checklists for everything except critical memory Items. I have my Commercial, too and fly Homebuilts and Classics also. I suggest that before she flies, she should recite the basic checklist aloud and touch the objects mentioned so that she gets into the habit of using checklists. She will rapidly get so good at her checks that she will regard them as second nature. Also, you could fit a small bungee cord to the brake lever so that it can be looped over the stick to act as a parking brake, when she has to stop and wait.
The Goggles on her eyes is a brilliant idea!! Eyes are the most precious asset of a pilot 😀
I love watching her fly. And as a Air Force Vietnam Veteran I wish her all the Best of Luck in The Air Force Academy and I will follow her career
Thanks very much for the audio! 😎👍🏻

Your on your way but as the airman said you must do a verbal out loud checklist as if your talking to yourself it could save your life
I’m just wondering how cold is it up there? It is pretty cold up here.
We're lucky....Weather in South Carolina is still in the 50s mostly.
Decreasing 1 degre Celsius for every 100meter altitude
Look like cold,,,you wear jacket and pant...don't forget using helmet...have nice landing Alina

Where did you end up?
On a sandbar for about an hour lol
That is a really nice light aircraft! flaps and all so cool
Gloves help. Also have to agree with earlier comment you should have a check list. Well done though, keep flying.👍
We added checklists later. th-cam.com/users/shortsbYSVjQlJRIY?feature=share
Best part about the 103, you dont need an FAA license to fly it.

Checklist?

Lose the engine over all that wetlands no good prospects for landings, you might end up upside down with your head in the mud.
