Good tutorial overall, but the main thing I didn't like was the inclusion of those mods. It just gives viewers some false expectations of actual gameplay, overall look and feel, and coerces them to initially play it modded than the actual vanilla game created by the developers. There's nothing wrong with that, just my own opinion.
I've been playing this game for a few years but still love to see how others explain their process! I really enjoyed this, soon as you mentioned an airlock on the freezer I subbed! I really hope you have a lets play series or just more rimworld in general.
I just want to say thank you so much for this video, extremely informative. I'm kind of a "learn as you go" player but Rimworld can be very complex at times and I appreciate some of the smaller nuances you mentioned that help make a more effective base.

@@PixelRookieOfficial I'll have you know that watching this woke that itch for Rimworld in me again. I hadn't played in years, but I haven't been able to stop since. And it was GLORIOUS! First temperate forest colony died to a wildfire, my second colony in boreal (20 day growth period) almost starved to death, if they hadn't started going berserk and... putting a fire (lively pyromaniacs eh!). At least they didn't freeze... ;) I'll try for tropical now with the goal of making it at least a year, but I have a feeling we will die of heatstroke. Really enjoying the challenge, and learning so much on every play. Thank you!!!
I purchased this game about 2 months ago, but honestly, I was playing randomly without knowing what I was doing. But finally I learned a lot and now I can finally play correctly! Thank you very much!

This guide is amazing, thank you. I understand the basics but the way you laid this out really helped focus on priorities of early game. A little feedback, I’d be nice if you explained what each new addition (larger rooms, beds, etc) were just for a little more depth but it in no way detracted form the usefulness of this video
This game looks so good. I’ve had it on my wish list for years now but just never bought it. I’m not sure why, I’ve bought other games in the meantime that have turned out to be limited in fun, compared to Rimworld which looks to have huge amounts of complex and engaging gameplay. Great video man, I’ll keep it for when I finally buy the game!
Pixel Rookie I actually bought it shortly after watching this video. What have I done. It ate my evening, then my night, then my morning. 3 hours sleep before work lol. I also installed a few of the mods you used and they helped a lot, especially the Careful Planning one. Having so much fun with this, worth every penny so far!
Just started playing Rimworld. Great guide for new players! I don't think you went into how to use the mods that break vanilla gameplay anyways so this vid was pretty vanilla friendly.

I don't mind swearing in videos so no apology necessary, it just seemed out of place when you were so thorough and concise. I really liked that you integrated the random raid into the instructional video, this is like a lets play mixed with a tutorial and you got the perfect balance between the two, good advice and fun. I don't always comment but the quality here is way better than the crap I usually watch so again; this is a great video. I wish more creators had such high standards.

If you could do a tutorial on how to store extra back up power that would be awesome. My house is like a disco with lights flicking off and on constantly lol 😂 also not good for my frozen goodies
so now that rimworld beta 19 has launched i want to make some things clear that Rookie did not telled for anybody complaining so the armor of course a colonist should be designed to be ULTIMATE PROTECTIVE (early game) ARMOR GUY it can be litteraly anybody but i recommand it being on hunters since in case of revenges or in some case use it for melee colonists -Reasearch first batteries since you cannot build it anymore when you land -heatwaves (only if you play first on a season where heatwaves can spawn) just follow the damn battery tip and you will be fine -smooth rocks for terrain decoration -reduce the resistance in the prisoners for the first raids and if you have TOO MUCH prisoners execute or free some of them -burry dead ennemies since they will get moods debuff if they see dead bodies and that's all there is

A note: When you heal an injured pawn you want to rescue and join your settlement, they may choose to join out of gratefulness. This negates the need to try recruiting them as prisoners and lets you utilize them right away, but it has the risk of them not joining at all.

play vanilla before you start adding mods. Prepare carefully is essentially a cheat. Also, make a stockpile for all of the stones you have laying around from mining out the rooms.

just to tell you my first experience with the game, I tamed a boomalope and died in my wood-base settlement setting everything on fire and killing 4 of my settlers because I panicked. 10/10
Great video! Was very helpful. Although, I've heard putting the butcher table in the same room as your stored food is bad. As the butcher table makes the area dirty and unsterile. Which makes them go bad or something. But still I learned a lot from this thank you!

Don't use sandbags like that! if you have a 5% chance to hit a pawn, it is fine... but while lost bullets won't hit the target they will... *Hit any pawn or animals in the trajectory of the bullet with a chance of 40%, regardless of their cover!* Just don't stack your pawns together, you'll lose everyone to lost bullets.

From the first glance it looks like Dwarf Fortress but with electricity and fancy models. Still looks a little to scary to actively begin playing it, haha.

That is a tough question haha I watched a serie of 5 videos after yours that in total lasted about 1h and the guy basically said the same stuff you did and at this point i realized that your tuto actually quite complete. The thing that made me want more and probably a lot of people is at the end when you say that there is a lot more to the game when actually there isn't (at least to get stared). I do only have less than 10h of gamplay so i might be mistaking. So yes maby a more gamplay like follow up would be appropriate if you don't know what else to say in a tuto video but that's just my opinion. Thanks for the good vids and keep it up :)

Cave infestations are hardly a good learning device. They're known to consistently and ruthlessly end entire colonies within 1-3 hours of gameplay. That's more of a tool of frustration/helplessness and less of a tool for 'haha get better newbie'. A great tool for teaching new players to overcome odds and become better at the game is with decision-making. They'll need that more than a solid, sudden, and seemingly random run-ending kick to the nuts via infestation.

Having mods in a tutorial does not help. I only have checkmarks in the priority tab just confused me.
If you clear out a hive, will they respawn if you don't fill it in?

I've got a mad squirrel and it's chasing around 1 colonists and the other ones will not do anything, it's been 2 days and they've done nothing
