I was wondering if you knew how to deal with the LCD film polariser needing replacement. I don't think I can find a replacement screen anywhere unless ones from newer models are compatible :( any ideas? The screen works just fine, just some residue and the screen looks damaged, though i read it's the polarising film layer. I live in a tropical country with high humidity.
I can not be quite sure because I did not tested it myself. After installing the new SSD the CAMERA is formatting the new SSD so the CAM is quite familiar with it. Of course 200GB is a lot (twice more) and there might be some unexpected memory limitations, for example. Anyway I am positive and believe it will work just fine. Please, share your experience.
Generally, I think replacing HDD with SSD is acceptable. Should not be any difference. Just remember to format the SSD with the Camera format tool (not with a PC!). I just want to warn you that I switched to SSD because I had vibrations inside the Cam that influenced the focus. I supposed the HDD is the only part that can produce such a vibration. It turned out the little drive (motor) responsible to adjust the lens is getting hot after 20-30 minutes of work and starts to vibrate and worsen the focus. Then I read reviews in AMAZON US a lot of people having the same problem and SONY refuses to fix it. Obviously, it has been manufacturing fault. If you happen to have the same problems, mind that it could be the focusing drive fault and HDD fault. So the Camera can not be fixed and it is a beautiful junk now. I will not mention the Still Cam SONY DSC F717. Another very beautiful junk I proudly own and almost never used Good Luck with SONY ; -)
SONY’s old info-lithium a real pin in the a__ss. I have met 3 theories of non - working info-lithium: 1) the electronics (chip-set) inside not recognized by the camera, 2) oxidized (poor) contact surface of both - camera and battery, 3) chemical problem - presence of a passivating layer ( essentially with a high resistance) I would try to 1) clean the contacts with “electric contacts cleaner”, 2) Charge / Discharge the battery with external charger 2-3 cycles Google it for more info
can you please describe how it works after 2 years? ssd disks are known for shorter life span when you recording/erasing all the time

Did you think you had any effort in Speed and could i substitute the HDD with a bigger ssd like 200 GB or something. Thank You.
