In my faith, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" they encourage us to read the doctrine ourselves, and get our own testimony of the truth. They're very clear about what is the truth and what isn't, but they want us to ask questions so we can get answers.
They even put up essays online about some of the ugly truths of the early church. Granted those essays aren't nearly as damning as all the accusations surrounding those accounts, but the Church cites all of their sources (in all of their writing) so people can actually fact check it.
The irony of singing "We Are the Champions," while getting extorted is palpable.

The best part about the "free extra hour in the ball pit" is that access to the ball pit wasn't being charged for to start with and there was no system of limiting how much time people could have anyway. They literally gave people nothing in lieu of a refund. It's like if they offered them extra access to air.
Extra Air was a blessing, considering it's a Convention.

I take partial responsibility for this shit show happening. Bit of an untold story but...ever wonder how this even happened? Well this was just a shitty group of people on a tumblr blog that was poorly designed and so I asked them "are you serious about this happening" they said "yes" and so I offered my help. I come from a media production background and so I gave them a polished tumblr blog, and even made them a website and was designing badges, promotional material, etc.
They promoted me to "art director" but I was growing suspicious because I oddly had to point out things like "wait what? You can't throw a con without money..." and I was slowly finding out that their official "committee" was having "drama" because committee members weren't showing up to meetings. Why? Turns out because some of them were getting busy with hw because apparently some were still only 15 years old.
But my promotional material was getting them traction and it caught the attention of one of my friends who hangs out with the Joss Whedon circle of usual actors. And so with his help he and I were putting plans in place to discuss shooting a commercial with Felicia Day and some of the other usual Whedon actors and get their endorsements.
But I didn't tell the committee this because I was still somewhat suspicious. I went to a con and shot a soft commercial with some B level famous cosplayers edited the video and then sealed it in a vault forever because after editing that video I found out the truth: the two girls "spearheading" the con was just a rando 18 year old girl and the other girl who was also young (I forget her age) had zero experience. The "boss" of all this had acted like she was in charge but I learned that her definition of being capable was that she was going to SCHOOL for business but had never thrown an event in her life.
It suddenly made sense why she didn't listen to my advice that they should throw a smaller meetup first, find investors and raise capital, and any other advice for starting a convention: she had no idea wtf she was doing.
And so in the night I immediately went on their blog, took off my code, shut down the website, and deleted every piece of promotional material and the logos I had designed for them and I just sent them a message not to use any of my shit and that I was backing out.
I wonder to this day what would have happened if I hadn't intervened. When they had their shitty little blog they hardly got 5 notes but when I stepped in their traffic jumped to thousands over night. I feel like they would have naturally fizzled out but I set them on a momentum.
Oh well. They should have fucking listened.

I suppose if you enjoyed the hilarity of dashcon itself. Back when I was involved it was called tumblcon USA. But the day after I left, they also got slapped with a message from tumblr to change their name because they were pretty much like "wtf you cant use our name". Also another reason why I backed out. I assumed they had tumblr's blessing but the night before I heard they were wondering if they should "ask for permission" (at this point they were like 5 months in the planning process and I had only been involved 3 weeks to like a month only).

The Night Vale thing was more than just them walking. From what I heard, they were delighted to go, since Tumblr helped make them popular, and even took time out of their tour to go. Dashcon promised to pay for their travel, room, everything. Then, they were told travel couldn’t happen because they didn’t raise enough money. That’s fine, Night Vale was willing to cover that, they understood it was their first con, shit happens. Then they get there, but oh no, they couldn’t get them rooms since every room was taken by a convention goer. Okay, Night Vale struggles but managed to stay at a buddy’s house.
And this whole time, payment for their performance kept getting delayed further and further until the night of the performance, they were told they’d be paid AFTER they performed. At this point, a tired and frustrated Night Vale knew they were getting scammed and decided it was best to leave. But the way Dashcon worded the ordeal made it seem like Night Vale left because they weren’t paid MORE than what Dashcon offered. Night Vale looked like greedy bastards, Dashcon looked like pitiful victims. Night Vale did apologize and I think offer to compensate for those who got ripped off, but the whole thing was an even worse disaster the deeper you look into this shit.

Still a chill and talented group, I’d recommend listening despite being tainted by Tumblr’s idiots. Its got hints of Silent Hill, some atomic age sci-fi, bizarre humor, and a five-headed dragon running for mayor. Just pretend Tumblr never touched it.

At the time the event organizers promised a whole lot of great stuff but 90% events never happened and what did was an extremely watered down version. The things that they had were nowhere near the quality that was promised.
Its like shopping online, you buy something expensive but they just ship you a cardboard box with a letter and cheap mints and a bill for a full tank of gas.
I feel bad for those who participated. They were promised a huge event with all kinds of people and internet celebrities.
Shows were canceled people were not showing up it was empty and abysmal as compared to what was actually promised.
On top of the fact any people ended up paying more because of the venue controversy only to find that it was for nothing.
No one could have predicted the disaster that was Dashcon.

Nah, MA Larson loves them. He's not even working on the show anymore and yet attends every con he can. I've also found some of the best fanfics ever written from the Brony fandom. Of course, the ones with vampires, random crossovers, and bad romances tend to get the most attention, but there are some truly amazing ones that I wish the show was based around. They have storytelling translatable to a screenplay of the level that went into the likes of "Over the Garden Wall". Some even reach high-fantasy-novel-level skills, and I'd compare them to "The Last Unicorn". One epic I'd even say is on par with "Lord of the Rings", and just as lengthy, with astounding composition and flowing, beautifully descriptive narration.

No, there's one MUCH worse with a cannibal Nightmare Moon who's forgiven after being the worst person imaginable... which has 5,000 likes or more. Also, it turns out in that story feeding her criminals was commonplace in the past... and many of those criminals were political prisoners (basically innocent of any real crime). But that's still ok as far as the insane NMM fanbois were concerned.
There was also a terrible one with vampire Vinyl and werewolf Octavia, where monsters randomly attacked ponies, but somehow the story demanded we sympathize with them rather than the group that organized to fight the monsters. In fact, in this terrible story, Octavia becomes a werewolf after being savagely attacked and saved at the last second... and she still has no qualms about monsters nor understands any normal pony's fear, despite nearly being killed and eaten. And of course the anti-monster group was abysmally incompetent despite knowing who all the monsters and what their weaknesses were, while they were still mostly anonymous to the monsters, because god-forbid the glorious SJW monsters face a genuine adversary with a sensible position.
