Another hack I've had good success with...I've used my table-mounted belt sander to reduce stud length on "retired" FG boots. Even when I've reduced length by about 30-40%, he tells me traction remains extremely high on AG, yet he can pivot better (and I feel like it's safer for him).
I was thinking of doing that for the FG Puma Future Ultimate! Those studs are far too long to feel safe on AG pitches - that’s a great shout! 🔥

There is a "HG" soleplate available in the Asian market, which is conical and probably a bit more gentle on artificial grass.
I would love to get a pair as well 🤩 I'll definitely have a look for those HG versions, I'd love to get some that are a bit less aggressive on AG pitches
@@NoahCavanaugh would you say that the HG version ist not suited for normal grass ? I have had a lot of problems with twisting my ankles and now im not sure whether to take the HG or FG version for normal grass.
@@A.K3196 If you play on proper natural grass pitches, these will be just fine I reckon! 🔥
@@NoahCavanaughthe HG version has chronicle studs which are a bit shorter, I really can’t decide between HG (maybe more safe on my ankles) or FG (where the studs are longer and maybe better with traction, when the grass is more deep and also soft sometimes) 🤷🏽♂️
Basically everything you said about the Ultimates is what I’d say about the Pros. I love mine, but I decided to switch to turf Mercurials for AG after a close call while training with my friend. The studs are just too long. I really wish actual AG variant boots were more available in the US. 👍🏼

Totally agree with your comments about studs. Too long and bladed for Artificial Ground😢 Especially it is not apropriate for AG pitches around my home. It grabs the grass too tight that my ankle hurts after football matches. I hope Puma will change the soleplate structure adding round shaped studs like the Nike ones🙏

Yep i would not recommend these for AG, now dealing with an ACL injury after an intense, but short game. These are definitely meant for FG. You could say i learned that that way…

Hey Noah I had the puma king platinum in a size 9 do you think I should stick to 9 in the future ultimates because I like a tight feeling in the toe box as the kings have or would you recommend coming down half a size?
I’d go 1/2 size down! I wear a 9US in the kings and an 8.5US in the Futures 🤝

Love all these reviews, can't thank enough... 🙏 Just a quick question though, are you thinking of reviewing/comparing lower models? For instance Puma Future Pro apparently is quite similar if not near equal to the Ultimate, and I'd like to see what the genuine difference is and no creators come close to the details in your reviews.
I might at some point mate, but with all the other content coming out I don't have time for the lower tier models at the moment!

The first takedowns of these boots have cylindrical studs too which might help a bit with the pivoting issues.
Plus according to SR4U those takedowns are just as good as these in terms of the quality of the upper material and the boot overall.
Maybe I'll have to check them out!

I'd say they're wider than the normal fit version of the Tekela, and about on par or a little wider fitting than the GX, especially in the toe box.

when talking about sizing, as im from the uk and im a uk size 8 in normal shoes (like an air force 1) i usually go up one size to a uk 9 when buying my football boots - did you go up one size from your normal shoe size when buying this football boot or only half a size ( only asking because im not too familiar with your US sizing)
I usually go 1/2-1 size DOWN from my normal shoes, better for performance in my opinion!
how would u say is the best way to break in the boots? i also went down a half size, getting an 8 instead of my normal 8.5, and they also feel tight out of the box like u said.

I've owned the 1.4s and loved them. However just got the ultimate and there's alot more dead space around the toes in comparison. Kind of a bummer, thought about going half a size down but I can't really sacrifice any width.

No, I would go with the same size that fits you in the 1.3!

As long as it was on FG surfaces, yeah! The sock should make no difference in the boots width
Go a 1/2 size down unless you have really really wide feet for these.

Yes! The teammate still wears them, so far so good!
I tried going down half a size and I had to REALLY wedge my foot in. Finally got it in using a shoe tree, felt a bit tight but length was better.

Does it loosen up at all? Did you have trouble getting the foot in at first? Debating whether to stick with sizing down or just dealing with a slightly longer fit.

If you have space on the end, I'd definitely go at least 1/2 size down

Maybe! Not sure mate - some boots just aren't quite the right shape sometimes... Give it another wear or 2 and then re-evaluate! 🤝
I went half a size down as well as I had a bit of space on my toe area. Does feel a bit tight now but it’s biting my foot on the side a little bit but I haven’t done any exercises with it. I’m a bit scared they won’t break in .

@@NoahCavanaugh Think I’ll grab a pair of these in MG as I am mostly playing on artificial grass and have other boots for natural grass. Used to play with FG boots on AG too but it burned out my legs really fast and it would result in shin pain, injuries etc. Even AG plate is a bit too much for me but turf ones at the same time don’t perform nearly as well. So yeah, I’ll try a pair of MG of these. Thanks for the vid, been watching your boot reviews every now and then and they are really good 👍

Probably an AG pair of boots from any of the brands! Nike and Adidas usually have better quality

My son has the Future 1.4 Parisian color way and loves them, got a ton of use out of them, so far 9 full months but the sole/upper is pulling away in the right toe for second time a month after repair. have been reading mixed reviews on these newer futures not being as durable...just hard to read into how long they seem to last before they really start going downhill...less than 2/3 months isn't worth it for the Future Ultimates, but might be ok for the Pro version. Appreciate it if you have a little more to add on the topic..thanks

Hi, i got the future match version of these.(cheaper)
I got a size 8(uk) and the feel comfortable but not snug up front.
There is about 18/20mm from big toe - front.
I can only get a size 7(due to store voucher if return)
would you think a size down will be to much?
1cm difference in size 8-7 according to charts.
So with a 18/20mm gap.
Should be okay?
I only recommend going 1/2 size down mate - per the video!

The weird thing is that Puma also offers HG stud pattern for this model. Those are ones that are best on turf - not these or the MG.

I went half a size down and they still became super LONG and feels like material become loose....

@@NoahCavanaugh I'm so let down by shoes costing $200-250 and then they lose their stiffness/ material quickly. I thought my New Balance Furon V7 were super good, and now I've had them 5-6 times and it just feels like a loose rubber sock!

It's definitely a personal preference - some people won't wear boots after the smallest little bit of separation while others will play with their boots until the entire sole is ripped off 😂
