    Hello friends,
    Hope you all doing well!
    This video will demonstrate how to repair Popcorn Maker Machine which does not work at all .
    A popcorn maker (also called a popcorn popper) is a machine used to pop popcorn. Since ancient times popcorn has been a popular snack food, produced through the explosive expansion of kernels of heated corn (maize). Commercial large-scale popcorn machines were invented by Charles Cretors in the late 19th century. Many types of small-scale home methods for popping corn also exist.
    Commercial popcorn machines are commonly found in movie theaters and carnivals, producing popcorn in a pan of hot oil, which has approximately 45% of its calories derived from fat. Hot air popcorn poppers appeared for home use in the late 1970s, which produce popcorn with only 5% of its calories derived from fat.
    In this video, I have repaired small Hot-air electric popcorn popper.
    An electric popcorn popper is a small electric appliance designed for heating kernels of popcorn to the point where they pop into an edible form. Hot-air poppers have a fan-like impeller that agitates the kernels with a turbulent stream of hot air in the popping chamber.The heat is generated by a heating element in the base, activated by a simple on-off switch and controlled by a thermostat. It include a motor to rotate fan. The heating element is spring like resistance coil.
    What Can Go Wrong with a Popcorn Popper?
    A faulty thermostat or thermal cut-off is often the cause of common popcorn popper problems such as scorched or unpopped corn and excessive popping time.
    In this video, I have shown,how I find out fault and fixed it.
    Very common fault is "Blown Thermal Fuse"
    What Do I Need for Popcorn Popper Repair?

    Would solder not potentially melt at the temperature these things run at? Had the same issue with mine but chucked it out when I saw the fuse was rivetted rather than soldered.

      Completely agree,but i did not have rivet gun and its really hard to remove existing rivet, till now it works fine

    Thanks a lot. I have an old Hamilton Beach popcorn pumper pp01. It started overheating and not spinning. Does the fuse have anything to do with the fan's work? The machine is 220V, 1250W, 50Hz, what fuse should I look for?

    • @MrNams
      @MrNams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No,in your case heating element is working, try to check if motor is working or not or if it working then check for propeller, some time due to heating motor spins but propeller slips

      @@MrNams thanks a lot. Can I assume that if the motor made sound the last time I turned it on it works and the issue is with the fan? I assumed the sound is due to friction between the motor and shaft. Unfortunately I cannot seem to find anyone who has a video of my specific model disassembled.

    Very useful info, the internal circuitry is common to many chinese popcorn makers aesthetically very different from this, as the vintage looking Smart and Ariete.

    Hello, I have a Champion CHPCM110 Popcorn Maker. After a year and half in use, it stopped mid-popping and now it won't turn on any more. Perhaps the same applies here, it could be the fuse? I use it mainly to roast coffee, so my warranty is out the window. Thought I could follow your demo and try looking for a new fuse to replace with but I don't know what it uses. Haven't disassembled it yet.
    On the bottom it says 230V~50/60Hz / 1200W. Anything else I should be able to know based on this? Much obliged if you happen to have an advice. Cheers.

    I have a problem with a thermal fuse also.
    But in addition, the fan is also doesn't spinning. When I connected it directly to DC supply it works.
    What would you recommend to check ?

      @@MrNams The idea is not to use the complete fan but the blade, only the blade of this one because the diameter allows it.
      Another question: If the consumption (at startup is a little higher) is 10 amps (1200 Wats / 120 V = 10 A, in the case of my country) ... Why is a 10A thermal fuse used? ... Doesn't this one melt by that current to the limit only at startup? .. Thanks again ..!

    • @MrNams
      @MrNams  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) Fan: Yes I am also on same page, we should use only fan blades
      2) Fuse: I think this is fault, and applicable to all countries, initially I changed few fuses, and finally i did connect directly without fuse, and relied on "Thermal Switch" to cut power on over heating.

      @@MrNams Good evening and cordial greetings: If the power of my equipment (Popcorn Making Machine) is 1,200 Watts and its nominal voltage is 120 VAC and being 98% Resistive Load the working current is then 10 Amper .. How to protect it with a thermal fuse of 142 ºC / 10 A / 250 VAC? ..... That If = 10 A is which? Note that the work current or steady state is equal to that specified in the "screen printing" on the fuse body. I ask: Shouldn't it be greater ?, say 15 A because in that case with any variation to the increase in the line voltage will increase the current will be that the fuse blows? regardless of temperature. Could you clarify this reasonable doubt for others? Thank you!!

      Presumably the popper has a cutoff switch. Obviously a heating device without one is a fire hazard. Do these switches often deteriorate?

      @@MrNams One thing you have to keep in mind: Most manufacturers use a bridge rectifier spanned on two points across the heating element which they use as a voltage divider in order to power the blower motor without using a transformer. You can see them on hair dryers on the hair dryer's pressure side located on the back of the fan motor.
