Give Me an Answer - Grace Rejected, Has Serious Consequences

  • Program 2523 ................... - Belief - Love - Grace ..............
Recorded at The University of North Florida - October 2023
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

I wasn’t cursing at God but was cursing while speaking to him when i was in jail for the new years weekend. Thought my sin was justified because this guy looked like he was about touch this girl on the crowded train of NYC. After leaving him be, he antagonized me, threatened me, and i blew up after about 30 minutes. Sitting in that cell saying “God why the $&@? aren’t you helping” etc. i been struggling to forgive myself since

I think unity can be helpful but also dangerous. On big issues like faith or faith+works. If your part of Christianity that teaches faith+works I’d say the idea is to separate your self from that teaching and those teaching that do to that fact if your trusting in yourself then your faith is in yourself as well which is a false gospel that doesn’t save. And when it comes to salvation I don’t want to partake in those that teach those things leading many people to deception

It always blows my mind when people are so argumentative. They ask us to be tolerant. but can't accept our beliefs. I always look at our Father as a parent. As an earthly parent, I don't want my child to steal, cheat, talk about others, be married etc. I want the best for my children. So if it is okay for an earthly parent not want our children to go down the wrong path, then why is it a problem for God to want the best for his children?

The fact that these conversations are happening about faith is nice to see. There was a point when Mr. Stuart spoke about the bible encouraging doubt. Bear with me for a little, but the Bible does not encourage doubt just because people doubted. Through his suffering Job held to his faith in God, although he was at the edge of holding on because of his struggle. When he was afflicted with a skin illness his wife ridiculed him for holding on to his integrity. But he remain devoted (Job 2:9). Rather than doubt the Bible encourages faith. I’ve watched a lot of these videos before and I enjoy learning from the conversations and to hear people thoughts about these things.

Cliffe why not acknowledge that Catholicism preaches a different gospel than the one found in scripture? As someone who attended catholic school/church for 5 years I was taught to believe my salvation was dependent upon my ability to live righteously and fulfill the church sacraments. It wasn't until I read the Bible myself I found out salvation is the free gift of God, not dependent upon my own efforts but entirely upon the finished work of Christ. To paraphrase Paul, "If any man preach another gospel, let him be accursed."

@@tree777tree3 that wouldn’t be why. It wouldn’t be because of your works. There isn’t enough “sinning” you could not do that would get you into heaven. The only way any of us get to heaven is by acknowledging your sin, confessing it to God, and putting your faith in Jesus as the forgiver of your sin. He already knows you struggle with it. He wants you to acknowledge that you need Jesus to save you from yourself. When you truly do that the Holy Spirit comes inside and every time you sin it’s more and more disgusting to you. This leads to sanctification and helps you conform to the image of Christ. All He wants is your humble heart. ❤

He was simply being sensible and didn't want his head in a cloud. Why would he be stubborn about wanting to believe someone he cared about had come back from the dead?
Au contraire, think about it, he must have wanted to believe it was true. After all, he was with Jesus before he died, right? He was in Jesus's clique, if you don't mind me putting it that way, right? But it's just that he didn't want to be deluded. He wanted to be sure that it was reality. I'd love to believe Jesus rose from the dead too. I'd love to believe there is life after death too.
If anyone thinks I'd rather believe death is the end, then, with the greatest of respect to them, they've probably never lost anyone they care about because anyone who has lost someone they love will tell you, they want to believe their physically deceased loved ones are still around somewhere. I've lost two family members who were very close to me and others who were less close but I still cared about them, so please don't come to me with "Ya just don't wanna believe it" or any other thoughtless, insensitive remarks like that, I'm not going to respond to that because it tells me you don't get it at all.
Give me sensible, friendly toned responses. I am open to persuasion. Yes, it will take a lot to convince me that a man called Jesus was actually a divine being who rose from the dead over two thousand years ago, but it's not impossible to convince me. What I would suggest to Christians here though is to remember that those of us here who are sceptical of God's existence and the supernatural claims of the Bible are people just like you, we're not your enemy, we're no different to you, we just disagree on this matter, that's all is. Cut me and I bleed red blood, sometimes I burn the toast, drop things on the floor and trip over the carpet or something, just like you, I'm sure .😀.Thanks.

No way to confirm? But far more likely than any confirmation you could ever hope for regarding your own worldview, right? But for sure, I think Thomas' doubt is perfectly understandable. The real question is, what are YOU willing to believe is true and why? I mean, you keep coming back week after week and year after year, ONLY to object, never to reason, no matter how "nice" you wish to be received. Thomas aside, it seems to many of us that YOU are being stubborn. I mean, the fact is that the Christian faith spread because of the testimony of those who were in the unique position of knowing empirically whether or not the message they carried was true-and most of them died for it. Compare that to your current naturalistic faith, that by definition, cannot and has never been observed in whole or part... then consider your own moral conscience, and tell me which worldview makes more sense. The mindless one you currently embrace or the Christian one that began as the result of eyewitnesses and infuses the human struggle with purpose, meaning, and objective truths and morality.

correct John, Thomas was absolutely right to question Jesus in that story. As a fellow Thomas, I would be equally sceptical if I'd seen a close friend lying dead, and then 3 days later he's alive and well, all we have to go on are Gospel accounts. It defies logic and reason that dead people don't come back to life. If it was reported in the Gospels that Jesus was pushed off that mountain by Satan, and miraculously, Jesus floated slowly to the ground and was not killed, it would be totally accepted by most Christians as fact. because "the bible tells me so". Critical thinking and rationality goes out of the window when it comes to the Bible it would seem. I could make up any number of fictitious stories if I was Matthew, Mark Luke or John, and tell them as fact, I could even say that "it was witnessed by over 500 ( insert any number here) people", and that would be taken as fact.

Catholics can’t be our brothers for the simple fact that they pray to Mary which is basically worship .
Prayer is a form of worship given by God to God not to Mary .
They also have statues which are idols .
It’s one thing to have minor disagreements in the word ,but to have such big issues like this is why we do not and can’t fellowship with them .

But Catholics believe you are anathema (accursed) if you believe salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone, how can you say we are just brothers and sisters and let it be?

CANON IX.-If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema.
CANON XI.-If any one saith, that men are justified, either by the sole imputation of the justice of Christ, or by the sole remission of sins, to the exclusion of the grace and the charity which is poured forth in their hearts by the Holy Ghost, and is inherent in them; or even that the grace, whereby we are justified, is only the favour of God; let him be anathema.
CANON XII.-If any one saith, that justifying faith is nothing else but confidence in the divine mercy which remits sins for Christ's sake; or, that this confidence alone is that whereby we are justified; let him be anathema.
CANON XV.-If any one saith, that a man, who is born again and justified, is bound of faith to believe that he is assuredly in the number of the predestinate; let him be anathema.

Here's how: Because said if those who lived in a particular saw the works he did, they would have repented even though they lived thousands of years before Mary gave birth to him. More importantly this implies the following thing: God knows what people have done, what they are doing, what THEY WOULD HAVE DONE, and what they will do.

Stuart or Stewart whichever is your name, doubt is the opposite of Faith. We are taught to rebuke doubt and hang on the Word of the Father! Where do you get that God wants us doubting and bent in anxiety? You need to read the Gospels because you missed some big lessons! Yes doubt will attack you but you need to rebuke it, doubt when it leads to certainty is one thing but I’m doing this but I think it’s gonna blow up in my face is not how he wants us to “trust” Him. He wants us to really Trust Him! How did you feel last time you got laid off or terminated from your employment? If it was anxiety where is your peace? Many people do, and if it's truly for just a normal reason to respect a love. God, and you're not idolizing it, not worshiping it. Not praying, it's cost not worrying about if you've lost it as if it's more important than the people around you. Then no, it's not a problem.

Please for give the length. Because you asked that question I felt a need to explain. If more questions please ask.
In short yes it's okay as long as you're not believing it will ingratiate you into some special relationship or protection from God. Our Sins separates us from God. The consequence of sin is that we die physically and we die spiritually eternally (separated from God).
That's human death is the price for sin and Jesus paid the debt. That's the entire point of the cross. His last word was it is finished. "It's finished" carries the idea of discharging a debt. The Cross allowed God to justly clear our sin account and at same extend to us His love, mercy and grace towards us. Jesus on the cross accomplished everything necessary to make you right with God. There is nothing you/we can do to make God love us more. Trust/believe in what Jesus has done to earn/make you right with God AND NOTHING else. Proudly wear your cross to ACKNOWLEDGE and CELEBRATE, the relationship and favor you have through Jesus with your heavenly Father. It doesn't bestow any extra protection or benefits to you. If you trust in the cross on your neck you are rejecting the cross that Jesus was nailed to. In this life, Jesus didn't guarantee a smooth flight. He GUARANTEED a safe landing with Him in heaven.
      God bless
