  • For our 3000 subscriber special I put an AMR500 Roots Supercharger on our 1.2L Mitsubishi Mirage Dune Buggy. I was hitting over 7psi on this setup and the buggy absolutely rips with boost. Keep in mind I built the Buggy to only weigh 1000lbs, with a few more mods I should be able to push this little mirage to 150hp, not a bad power to weight ratio. I might just be the first person to build an AMR500 Mirage 1.2L I've always wanted a supercharged dune buggy and now I've got one haha. I've got more boost and more systems to deliver boost coming up on this build so stay tuned.

    I use this Supercharger on both one of my street/strip Harleys and my Suzuki drag bike. Yes, they're noisy, some more than others, and yes produce the same boost, regardless of rotational direction. For lubrication I recommend REDLINE Shockproof LW for racing. For street use or long term running, I recommend REDLINE 75-90 GL5. 90 m.l. regardless of lubricant used. I hope that helps.

    You should install throttle body before supercharger, that makes it sound like normal supercharger. And supercharger sounds to be spinning too fast and that makes the noise ever worse

      I think that would have been the only way to make this setup work

    Sir, if you don't already know, the safe, continuous speed of those supercharger is 16, 000 r.p.m. In the DAYCO catalog, you can find pulleys to achieve the desired r.p.m. My Harley is sized for 15, 440, the Drag Bike spins 16, 600, but it only runs W.F.O. for just under 5 seconds. All the very best with your projects.
    T.S. RACING btw, I use a Water/methanol injection to keep the intake charge cool.

    I need your feedback guys! 14:37 - 15:00 do you think the clutch is slipping when i’m bangin gears?

    • @bobdole5350
      @bobdole5350 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know if your still running this thing.. but didnt seem like the clutch is slipping.
      Also, if you do still have it fitted.. an enclosed air box and recirculating bov dampens the sound quite a bit.. especially with an air-box that has a resonator fitted as standard.

      @@DirtGearTv well....something isn't right. Looks and sounds like your waste gate opens during high vacuum( when the throttle plate closes) so i`m wondering why u have 7psi boost at idle. It should be about 0 then build up almost instantly as you open the throttle. Maybe the valve in the waste gate is sticking.

    • @jonathanchapman6350

  • @MKPatrolGuy

    Is the super charger not directional? I would have thought mounting it with the pulley facing the engine would spin it backwards, and possibly the cause of some of the noise.

    • @DirtGearTv
      @DirtGearTv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MKPatrolGuy Eveything i’ve read about the AMr500s has said they are non directional and can be run both ways. One of the reasons mine is so loud is the 10 or 12 psi (possibly more) it’s creating at idle. You’ll notice in the video it gets much louder when there is back pressure, especially right after the bof closes

    • @MKPatrolGuy
      @MKPatrolGuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtGearTv That makes sense, I have to admit I did no research on that supercharger before suggesting that theory!

      MKPatrolGuy You make an excellent point though and I really have to wonder if pointing it the other way might have helped a small bit 🤷‍♂️

    Hey man! Would this supercharger work for an RX8 and what's the best way to set it up to make power?

    • @DirtGearTv
      @DirtGearTv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly they are good for about 100-140hp tops as they just don’t flow enough air but turbos do 😏

  • @misterbulger
    @misterbulger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm sold dude. I'm putting one on my already turbocharged geo metro. Does it say anywhere that you have to have a blow off valve? I run propane and don't need to be blowing off that fuel. And I probably won't run an intercooler. Im pretty sure the propane is cold enough. Unless... bov flamethrower superturbocharged 1.0 Geo?!?!

    • @DirtGearTv
      @DirtGearTv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I vote for bov full flamethrower mode! 😂

    Hey do you think there is any way to attach this to a 2019 can am Maverick trail 800? This side by side is a cvt so it doesn’t have a belt apart from the cvt belt. Would attaching it to that be a problematic? Any thoughts? Thanks I’ll record if I do it great video.

    • @DirtGearTv
      @DirtGearTv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do that that would work well on that platform as long as your gearing is done so you’re not over spinning the amr500

    I have that same 1.2L in my mirage hatchback and I've been eyeing these on amazon and ebay for like $160. If I get this and mount it to my 1.2L would I need to tune it you think? If so how are you interfacing with the 1.2L engine to tune it? Also do you think it'll get better mpg? or just more power?

    • @DirtGearTv
      @DirtGearTv  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would definitely want to be able to tune this otherwise you could be running into a lean condition and could damage the engine. There are some piggy back systems that might work for mirage, I personally tune using tuner studio and mega squirt.
