Have to admit, Mr. Waters was a genious when he wrote the lyrics to this album To stay on the billboard top 100 albums for almost 14 years is quite the accomplishment!
Waters might act like he made pink floyd as big as they are but what he likes to forget is that there are 4 of them and without the other 3 he would be nothing.
Sam, true but at the same the others would be nothing without him. It's like the beatles; Even though John and Paul wrote the majority of their songs they probably wouldn't have been anything alone
sam wilkinson 5 of them. Syd was the *PIPER* , the inspiration, the pioneer, the raver, and his absence inspired DSOTM and WYWH. from _Shine On You Crazy Diamond_ . *Shine on you crazy diamond.* *Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.* *Shine on you crazy diamond.* *Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,* *Rode on the steel breeze.* *Come on you raver, you seer of visions,* *Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!*
Pink Floyd did not want to be viewed as individuals. That is one of the main reasons they came up with the elaborate shows and themes. They wanted the focus on the music, not the musicians. Sure Waters wrote most of the lyrics. Gilmour put a lot of the music to those lyrics. Alan Parsons produced Dark Side. And on a Sunday evening just out of the blue with very little instruction, A Great Gig In The Sky was born. The Floyd is like the Borg, the cumulative is bigger than one artist and resistance is futile.
Pink Floyd is imcomperable thats why I got a Tatoo resembles the wall cross hammers and my own touch of lightning bolts. ive worn that for 26yrs and still get compliments. Best band EVER!
God the chills I got at the end of "Eclipse". I can't even imagine how powerful this performance must have been for those who saw it live. This song really is something special.
The pulse show was incredible....I had a skingasm from the time the speakers started peeping, chirping, hissing and rumbling..lol..until I cried when they left the stage
I saw it live in 75 and I’m still trying to blink and pick my jaw up off of the ground . Astounding doesn’t even describe it . Nothing does except to say it was as if I had seen through G-ds Eye .
Yes I saw them performance live twice, both in Philadelphia. There's no question it's one of their more intense performances of a night filled with intense performances.
"Thanks to our old friend Roger, who wrote words I have privilege of singing". David Gilmour is a great gentleman, I have never heard Roger thank the others for the music
a prince? not quite. he was part of the fights they had and only recognizing waters for his lyrics (1994) just perpetuates the in-fighting. roger did essentially ALL the lyrics and although the entire band must be given credit for the music, waters still gave many of the tunes their start - the entire group took it from there.
I totally disagree with your vision. Just listen to most of the demos that Roger Waters did to realize that he did not always compose all the songs, that Rick Wright and David Gilmour brought a lot of musicality. This is not a scoop, Roger Waters wanted to have his name on all compositions. And finally, when you have a bit of an ear, it's not hard to realize that Roger Waters's live arrangements do not sound of Pink Floyd, or much less than Gilmour, Mason and Richard Wright could do in 1994, 2006 or 2015-2016. Roger Waters is undoubtedly a great lyricist and designer, David Gilmour is undeniably a great musician. A simple little example to understand how credits work at Pink Floyd. Any color you like is the only piece of Dark Side where Waters is not credited. Only Gilmour, Wright and Mason are credited for the simple reason that there are no lyrics. Waters is credited alone on Money while it was not him who had the idea of the passage in 4/4 during the solo and the bridge. All this passage is composed by Gilmour. Gilmour is not credited.
so all their problems were caused by that villain Roger?? brilliant and talented people are notoriously difficult to work with - especially at their age at the time. time does however tend to wound all heals.
I was a teenager when this song struck me. Decades have passed and I'm still amazed by this album. Nothing has changed. Oh, no. Something has. The lyrics started to making even more sense.
I was also a teen, and makes much more sense now. Dont know why it touches me so much. A few years ago, I was over medicated by my doctor and listened to this thinking of my sister who just passes. I almost became psychotic. It was the meds but I still am drawn to it.

I first heard Pink Floyd in 1973 when I was in the Air Force. A strange time in our countries history. Guys were coming back from Nam and Thailand who smoked weed there and saw no reason to stop when they returned to the states. My first roommate in the barracks was one of those guys and he put on Dark Side of the Moon as we shared a joint. When I first listened to Time, the alarm clocks going off gave me a rush that I remember to this day. To me, across all genres, they are at the very top. I eventually owned every record they recorded and they are one of the very few groups that has never released a bad one. My roommate then has been my best friend for over 50 years and whenever we get together, Floyd is always on our playlist along with many other progressive rock bands. I am now a grandfather fourfold and I teach my grandchildren how to read music, play their first instrument (the recorder) and teach them music appreciation which heavily leans on classical music and prog rock whose roots are from those classical composers. When my daughter was in 4th grade, her teacher asked each kid in the class what was their favorite song and who sang it. Most replied Hanson or some other boy band, but my girl said Comfortably Numb. When asked why she chose that she replied: "my dad used to sing that to me when I couldn't sleep". Trus story.
I saw one of their shows at Earl's Court with a friend of mine while visiting London during this tour. From beginning to end was a total out of body experience.I don't know where the music took me ,but it was definitely a much better place. No other band has ever touched my soul the way Pink Floyd does. I remember at the end of the show tears streaming down my face. Simply put, Pink Floyd is the greatest musicians God ever put on this earth.
Some of the best bands of all time that in my opinion are in an unattainable level, in a league of their own: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppellin, Queen, The Doors.

THIS just came up on my Pandora feed while in the garden with my little girl … a Charcoal Labrador 2 and a half years old , so I held the headphones for her and she looked me in the eye and LOVED IT ! Goooood girrrrrl !
One night, oh about 15 or so years ago, after years of severe stress and emotional abuse, I put on Dark side of the Moon. When it reached this song, something inside of me shattered. I started laughing and crying at the same time. Everything poured out. Ever since that fateful October night, whenever it's all too much, i put this on, and it really helps.
Saw Roger Waters @ Tacoma Dome a month ago, and he played Dark Side of the moon, B side. Finally, after seeing Floyd in 1977, in the 1990's, the Roger 2 more times in the last 10 years, I finally got to hear these 2 songs live.
Yes, the Stones Greatest, Beatles most Popular, Led Zep Awesome & Who Epic, Band of the Gods of the Cosmos All time, I'm only 65, love all sorts, UK, US, & couple of Aus, NB, ACDC I can't get in top 50 but INXS & Easybeats do. You sit down & remember, wow there's a heap great bands below the Super groups, but above them & all other soul stirring foot tappers, Floyd, the Uber Super Group, I could go on
You will never listen to this album enough it shows just how Floyd are able to touch on our lmotions and heighten our feelings through there wonderful inventive music there will never be another band that will come even close to pink Floyd
Dark Side of the Moon is one of those albums that you just have to sit and listen from start to end. Listen loud. It's only like 45 minutes long but its an experience. I still remember the first time I heard it when I was 16 back in 1996. Mind blown.
“But that's not to say that the potential for the sun to shine doesn't exist. You know? Walk down the path towards the light, rather than walk into the darkness.”
I had the privilege to see the full sun eclipse last week, it will be the first and the last because I 'll be long dead when the next occurs, and, even if I am a full fan of Floyd, at no moment the thought came to me to listen to eclipse while looking at it. It was so wonderfull, so amazing, so astonishingly beautifull, that I was just happy to be there.
The lunatic is on the grass The lunatic is on the grass Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs Got to keep the loonies on the path The lunatic is in the hall The lunatics are in my hall The paper holds their folded faces to the floor And every day the paper boy brings more And if the dam breaks open many years too soon And if there is no room upon the hill And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too I'll see you on the dark side of the moon The lunatic is in my head The lunatic is in my head You raise the blade, you make the change You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane You lock the door And throw away the key There's someone in my head but it's not me And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear You shout and no one seems to hear And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
Eclipse is at the bottom of listened songs from Dark Side of the Moon (spotify) It made me so sad. One of my favorite songs and the highlight of the album.
All it says in the end is Pink Floyd are the best there will ever be
simple and great music...the hardest to do!
The solos are so in the song and they are not annoying like eruption

One night, oh about 15 or so years ago, after years of severe stress and emotional abuse, I put on Dark side of the Moon. When it reached this song, something inside of me shattered. I started laughing and crying at the same time. Everything poured out. Ever since that fateful October night, whenever it's all too much, i put this on, and it really helps.
good it helped you, nice to know your feelings, best to you
Poor Syd,no one deserves to suffer from mental illness,he could have been a great painter on canvas, and with his love of words,a great poet.
Everytime I listen to these tracks feels like it's the first time. I can always find something new... it's a Masterpiece
BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN FROM A MAN THAT ONCE HAD BRAIN DAMAGE
The segue between these two songs is the most sublime moment in music. Magnificent
The best concert I ever went to been to 39 concerts from 74 to 2014
Rest in peace Rick ,And god bless Dave, Roger, and Nick for the talent you provided the world. Rick you were the best...love you all...Bosco
Seeing this live was the best moment of my life. Utterly fantastic!
You have a good sense of humour and you can be silly. Both are great traits to have. Thanks for keeping us entertained 😁
This was absolute perfection.
Saw Roger Waters @ Tacoma Dome a month ago, and he played Dark Side of the moon, B side. Finally, after seeing Floyd in 1977, in the 1990's, the Roger 2 more times in the last 10 years, I finally got to hear these 2 songs live.

Eclipse is such a masterpiece
Me and my brother are Pink Floyd fans we're five years apart but we both love thse songs "Brain Damage/Eclipse" and the who album as well!!!❤
Probably the greatest song of all time, definitely the best band ever, LOVE FLOYD.
There is,was, shall ever be, a better band than Pink floyd. Their are the best....everrrrrrrr
Dark Side of the Moon is one of those albums that you just have to sit and listen from start to end. Listen loud. It's only like 45 minutes long but its an experience. I still remember the first time I heard it when I was 16 back in 1996. Mind blown.
All that you hate, all that love, all that is Pink Floyd
To think I saw this in person live... blows my mind over a quarter century later. What a privilege of music to witness.
Преклоняюсь перед этой гениальной группой. Сплошные шедевры.
PINK FLOYD CAN NOT BE COMPARED WITH ANY OTHER MUSICMAKERS
70'[s was the zenith of music.

Best finale to an album ever. Nothing come full circle so well
"There is no dark side of the moon, really. As a matter of fact, it's all dark"
"The only thing that makes it look light is the sun."
“But that's not to say that the potential for the sun to shine doesn't exist. You know? Walk down the path towards the light, rather than walk into the darkness.”
The Moon is a sphere, spheres only have one side.
So yeah the Moon is only a dark side
*ha hA hA ahAhAhAhA hAhAhahHAhAhAhaAha*
"There is no dark side of the moon, really. As a matter of fact, it's all dark" pretty much, but a least we have pink floyd...

Video to this is awesome Pink Floyd best band ever for me
I had the privilege to see the full sun eclipse last week, it will be the first and the last because I 'll be long dead when the next occurs, and, even if I am a full fan of Floyd, at no moment the thought came to me to listen to eclipse while looking at it. It was so wonderfull, so amazing, so astonishingly beautifull, that I was just happy to be there.
We got Eclipse to line up on the word "eclipse". I uploaded it if you wanna check that out
THE GREATEST SONG EVER WRITTEN COMING FROM A MAN WHO ONCE HAD BRAIN DAMAGE
The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
Life gave us Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd gave us life. RIP Syd and Richard 😢❤
Once again the greatest band ever
This is true music, not like the crap they call music today. Pink Floyd truly was one of the "Super Groups". We'll never see anything like them again.
One of my favorite bands to listen
Had to listen to Brain Damage/Eclipse twice. What a great listen. I am so glad I grew up at a time when this was the type of the music being created.
Eclipse is at the bottom of listened songs from Dark Side of the Moon (spotify)
It made me so sad. One of my favorite songs and the highlight of the album.
A Awesome Band! No one plays like them. Love their music!!!
