After my brother's marriage and departure from our home, I found myself living alone with my mother. While I've been grateful for the way she raised me, her recent attitude has left me frustrated. Despite my financial support, she unexpectedly pushed me away.

Fortunate are those children whose parents make their children feel wanted and support them. My heartfelt empathy on this issue to all those children/adults on this planet who have been emotionally/physically abused by their parents and manipulated by their relatives. Every time any parent says to their child "i raised you so you owe me" i immediately think "you know, you are the whole reason that the child exist anyway?" That alone easily gets that parent to shut that shitty attitude the absolute hell down.

My mother had told me this when I was 10, told me if she could’ve gotten an ab*rtion she would’ve when I was 16 (I told her “I wish you did”) and basically told me that her chasing d*ck was more important than her kids (when she got with my abusive father, when she got with this guy when we moved to Texas, USA; her “he’s not my boyfriend” boyfriend when we came back to Ohio, USA, and now with her current not-as-bad-but-still-pretty-bad bf. It came down to “either he stays and I go, or I stay and he goes” for all three of us kids and… we all moved out and I cut ties with her last year).
      Warning: “you” = my mother
Like, I owe you nothing. You’re the one that reproduced *knowing* the consequences. Especially when you admit that you didn’t want us and kept us as a way to 1.) *try* to keep my father in the picture and 2.) you are selfish.
She didn’t want to suffer alone so she just absolutely *had* to traumatize us and expect us to stay with her forever, expected us to just forget that she *never* chose us and that we should always chose her, and expected me to be the adult from the age of 5 (I’m 25 now/when I cut ties with her. Y’all do that math).
And I bet she’s trying to blame my wife for “pulling us apart” and won’t take accountability!
I’m a self-made orphan because while every child deserves parents, not every parent deserves their kid(s).

When it comes to money, even families break up. I literally watched two sisters who never had anything to do with thier mom take her to a lawyer when she was near death and had her change her Will to give them most everything and almost nothing to the daughter that brought her mom to Drs, had groceries sent to her and lived 3 hrs away. Thankfully the Judge looked at all the evidence and ordered everything liquidated and split three ways and giving the daughter who took care of her mom reimbursed expenses she could prove. Thankfully she did everything by credit card so could show records of expense being sent to her out of town mom.

Untill then, you have to teach them how to be a good citizens so you can leave peachfully in the sociaty. The worst thing you could do its take avantage of your own kids and call them ungreatful or some other shameless things when they didnt do as what u said. We teached our kids hows the world works out there and what you could when facing against it. Simple things for surviving and dont be a burden to others.

I know the feeling, even if this story might not be true.
A BF moved into my apartment, with his computer and a bag of clothes. Fast forward a few years, he wants this townbike, I mean new girlfriend and says "we should break up" I agree (a few reasons), then he says "get out"
MY NAME is on the lease. So. I find a new place, and then organise a moving van. I take all MY things, and we split the things we bought together (I took the fridge, left the washing machine, let him have the TV and TV stand and couch. He sits in the middle of the floor throwing a tantrum because I am "taking all the things". ALL THE THINGS ARE MINE, THAT I HAD BEFORE HE EVEN MET ME.
What he wanted was to keep all the good things of mine, and I just left with my clothes and anything he didn't like.
A few months on, he is going to move with that townbike, and calls me to say "come and collect your shit before I throw it in the street" (washing machine, couch).
When he moved out, his MOTHER was the only one to clean the place, I found out from her and went over to help her.
People like those in the story do exist.

1:09 she learned the hard way how married men get treated, from her mother non the less...
1:28 objection it should be easy for him to support her financially... that is if he wishes to do so...
1:56 fist of all it was intentional... second of all it was fully justified by the fact that she took money from you without asking... it doesn't matter if she your mother, husband or child if you wanted those money to be left for the taking you wouldn't keep them in the wallet...
2:18 yes it is thanks to her and instead of being proud of you she tries to live off your money, basically saying that you need to work for her from now on...
2:35 wow you got the patience of a rock...
3:25 wow that's some mad respect shown there...
3:41 good reply, sadly it only holds when you visit regularly...
4:04 objection 90% of the men out here can replace your mother and they will probably show more affection compared to your mother...
5:08 I really wonder is he showing disrespect to you or is he showing disrespect to his wife considering he prefers your cooking over hers...
6:23 that's the typical excuse of an emotionally unavailable person when they dislike your character... you can bring them the moon down to earth and they will still be displeased with the way you did it or find another excuse to act like you don't deserve any kind of praise...

Having kids and raising them was their choice, making unreasonable demands and not treating you as a person is also their choice. If they don't treat you as a person much less family, then they aren't family that's by their choice not yours. You may share blood with them but they are not family.
