- SCP-4290 is a Keter Class anomaly also known as The Child Hungers.
SCP 4290 is a Class-I Eschatological Entity that was thaumaturgically sealed approximately 10,000 years in the past. The seal containing SCP4290 is expected to break in the next seven days. If this creature is allowed to wake up from its jail under a lake in China, the results could be devastating and SCP Foundation researchers and scientists are scrambling to figure out a way to complete the ancient ritual that will keep it sealed in its watery prison.

This is actually a really cool story. The way it builds and builds, subtly rising the tension with every new piece of information until it pulls out the rug from under everyone.

Agreed. Liked this one because it's a subversion from most other SCPs, which either can't be released, or have been released and have been proven to be unimaginably destructive. It also makes you wonder how many other SCPs are also the same. For all we know, if the Devourer actually broke his last chain, it might turn out his body's too emaciated to move, or if the Destroyer actually got the signal to continue it's attack on Earth, it would be funny if it tried to, then failed because of damage and forever sunk into Jupiter's crushing gravity. I also wonder how many other civilizations though as we did, that "oh, (insert previous civilization here) didn't dare mess with this thing, we have to do the ritual, because if they couldn't handle it, we surely can't". The one oddity that remains is that, it seems like failing to do the ritual causes the seal to fail, resulting in the Child escaping it's prison. However, the Child has been dead for a very long time, and none of the rituals actually fed him, which begs the question: why would the ritual re-seal the prison, if the entity inside was already dead? Hell, why would the seal weaken at all, if the Child had perished long ago? I also really enjoyed that for once this 'unstoppable evil' didn't come with the full 'invincible' package of anomalous traits. Every other unbeatable creature at the SCP foundation seems to be: biologically immortal, requiring of no substenance, not even air, capable of either resisting any and all damage, or regenerating so fast as to make even the most terrible injury nothing more than a mild nuisance, and being capable of wielding enough power to destroy entire armies with barely any effort. This one seems to have been gifted with power and resistance to damage, but its fun that this one still needed to eat like everything else. I can almost imagine it panicking after realizing it was contained by a prison designed for true deities, and losing it after realizing it tricked its captors into thinking it was a lot more powerful than it actually was.

Sometimes there are pretty effective, fun, or scary SCPs that do have those generic traits, but some of the most interesting SCPs are those that get reclassified and/or are prone to permanent damage, potentially even fatal wounds or some such.

Until some future writer decides to change the nature of this story to further their own fantasies and tack-on some addendum, seems pretty obvious to me that those were inherent to the thaumaturgical protections on the seal.
What's the other option...? The something did it either to freak us out or because it didn't know either...? In the latter case if it doesn't know, than it's prolly not worth worrying about, as it isn't any more competent/aware than us; in the former case, still doesn't mean much. If that entity could control our broadcasts and convince us to commit murder, but only wanted three bodies and a heart, it's rather impotent and not much of a "deeper bigger bad", eeh...? if something knew of our fear and knew how far we would go to do what it says in order to "keep the child out", but that's all it demanded of us, it's hardly a bigger threat. Prolly just some rando trickster entity that just wanted to get it's yucks in on our gullibility. Not worth worrying about, hardly worth another SCP file, and def not worth tin-foil-hatting about just because it's all this anti-climactic story left us with

The story could be about a Foundation Scientist on the run trying to keep an angel child safe and grappling with the consequences of offering them up and not offering them up. Then in the end when he finally hardens his heart and takes their heart he finds out the monster was long dead and he killed an innocent child for no reason.

@Choudhry Ali Are we not operating by logic here? Commonly it's to be noted people are known to perform irrational stunts under extreme amounts of stress and fear. I’m talking about throwing themselves out windows to running away till their hearts give out. Back when my cousin, his cousin and I ran away from a dog. Those two being the fastest were able to get away pretty quick but me? I out right leap over a fence and three more till I was four streets over away from the dog chasing after me. Irrational yeah but I was scared. Had too otherwise I’d have gotten bit. Maybe but you never know.
I mean that was just a dog. I can only imagine the fear coursing through Agent Marinas in that moment. At what cost? Saving her own skin. Anyone saving their own skin matter if fact. Forget not, we have to take into consideration documented instances of failed universes ended by SCPs. Remember ‘When Day Breaks’? I’m sure any survivors on that planet would have chosen to escape to another universe compared to staying on a dead world ruined by the sun melted flesh of people and animals unable to die. There’s also SCP-5000: Why? Where the SCP Foundation unleashes all their contained monsters to destroy the world. Check out the full reading. It's a lot more terrifying / despairing enducting compared to what channels like these described. The whole horrifying event was so bad the whole universe needed to be reset.

@Kenn Honson X haha, yeah, I did. A lot of the video's I make are kinda phone related, so I made one in illustrator since I didn't have anything better to use as a logo.
I originally figured it was more to appease the entity rather than feed it, like the sea held down most of its power and mind, but if allowed to get ticked off enough, it could marshal it's strength and breach into our world. I thought the Heart was more of a distraction, in one of two ways: either the being was more like an animal, and the heart was like a chew toy of sorts, keeping it entertained as it slowly absorbed it's divine energy, until it eventually was worn down at which point it started getting pissed again, demanding a new toy or it would find one for itself, or maybe that the being was just pure evil, and the thought of people sacrificing slices of heavens pleased it, since we were slowly doing it's job for him: destroying our world piece by piece, so it saw no need to o out and do it itself. I imagine 682 might react similar to the second theory, if every time it tried to escape, the foundation nuked like 10 million people or so: why bother with going around chasing humans, when we were already destroying ourselves for it?

Like what if the first thing the scarlet king will do when he gets here is hug SCP-999 and SCP-682 telling them: "Daddy is so sorry, the evil foundation forbated me from seeing you guys! Your siblings have been so worried about you two after hearing that the foundation had captured you.". Then 999 wiggles happpily and hugs them both while 682 (who has been a bad lizard because his father was taken from him by humans when he was a baby!) goes: "Dad, y...you come for us. Ive been so sad when my main capturer burnt all the cards you sent during the years in front of me and told me that you dont love me anyway, so whats the point in reading them...".
