One thing I’d like to add about rope is that the burglar, dungeoneer and explorer packs all come with it, which means that, depending on the class you start with, you could get it for FREE.

Mundane items can be very useful in dungeon exploration. In 5e D&D you can get most of the necessary items you might need with the equipment packs listed on page 151 of PHB. Make sure each party has an explorers pack and then add one or more of the other packs as needed.

to your first item, I'll add that ash + water is a very strong lye which means soap, but it is strong enough to be caustic, don't keep it on your hands for more than a second or two or you will get chemical burns. I'll at to your list a simple wooden bowl. Good for eating, but also for covering things (trap letting a lot of smoke or poison gas out? Cover it if you can't plug it), carrying things that are hot or caustic, counting or collecting things, etc. And the obvious one you use it to eat out of.
