I thought Cronenberg's filming of Johnny's visions was admirable. He conveyed the feeling of entering these experiences through musical cues and facial convulsions. The script also carved away the extraneous details of the novel, leaving the bare bones of the book to glisten. Great cast, direction and pacing. Some of Walken's best acting.
