Martin Sheen and David Cronenberg say 'Dead Zone' villain resembles real-life U.S. presidents

- Actor Martin Sheen and director David Cronenberg say the villain in 1983's "The Dead Zone" was not too far removed from real-life U.S. presidents. Sheen elaborates, "We've had some of those lunatics reach very high levels in public life and public service that have given us second thoughts. But playing that screwball was actually a lot of fun. I didn't realize the effect it could have on a lot of people, maybe for the better when they realize, 'If you get into high public office, you're carrying some pretty important responsibility, and you'd better be a responsible person.'"
Cronenberg adds, "Unfortunately, you invite monsters and they pop up."
Sheen also discusses working with Drew Barrymore and George C. Scott in "Firestarter" on this installment of Yahoo Entertainment's "MVPs of Horror."

One of my favourite films
Dead Zone great movie
What a fantastic film (1983) and more than 40 years on, it still sits amongst my top 5 movies. As for the Trump comparison, he most definitely IS a mould of Greg Stillson - absolutely terrifying!

Why? Is there any politician who - if a gun were pointed at him - would not easily hold a small child in front of him as a protective shield without any remorse? 😊
That's ridiculous to assume as a norm.
Sprinkle at least a little reality in your morning cereal.
However having read the book which has a lot more detail and lead up in the movie did, the growth and mentality of Martin Sheen's character
Though his early adult life mirrors Trump!
