- FIRST DRIVE: The NEW NSX Type S is here and Acura decided to raise the performance bar before killing it off. On the outside of the Type S you will find a redesigned front fascia, rear fascia, new forged wheels, optional carbon ceramic brake rotors, and standard carbon fiber roof. On the inside there are carbon fiber accents, leather/Alcantara seating, and digital gauge cluster. Under the engine hatch the NSX's 3.5L twin-turbo V6 mated to (3) electric motors now produces 600HP & is mated to a 9-speed DCT. Would have been nice to see the car push the limits way more, esp. on a speedway. I used to drive my Maserati on an open road almost this fast, so I'd say a little dissappointing..(the Mazi is long since sold), and I'm a huge Honda and NSX fan (had a 99NSX..that was classic).

Acura really nailed it with the redesign on the tlx and especially bringing the type s version of that and now with this absolutely beautiful, beast of an NSX. People really gotta stop sleeping on this car and this brand.

Don’t forget the RDX which started the new design language and the gorgeous MDX
When you adjust for inflation, the regular ‘17 NSX ($150k) was valued at about just as much as the NA1 ‘91 NSX ($90k) when it came out. It was out of reach just as much then as it is now.
Acura is the one sleeping...the type S can't even beat a Kia. The Integra looks like trash. I'm saying this and I have owned 5 Acuras, but since early 2000s they have fallen off a cliff

Another awesome video! I remember seeing the original NSX back in the 90s, the "wow" factor was all over that car. This car is great too, but it gets lost among the more exotic cars out there. Keep up the excellent work, Joe & Lori!

It's already sold out everywhere. Unless you're already on the list, you ain't getting one straight from the manufacturer, unless you'd be willing to pay more from a reseller. There's not a car in its price range I'd rather have over it. It's sexy af and is very reliable daily driver (underneath is a tried-n-true Honda 3.5L V6 that's been known to be super reliable).
The nsx is one of my current favorite cars, I’ve driven one, and it’s truly underrated and under appreciated. The reason? The price. It should have been 110-130k. At 150+ I think the Porsche just makes more sense. At 171k you might as well just go for a gt3.
Facts
More to the point, you mean the price for the brand perception wise. Had this car been a Lexus or a European brand, the price would have been more accepted by the market. I too drove one, a 2019, for an entire day. I was surprised at just how much I liked it.
Aside from the lack of a beefy V8 engine sound and interior that doesn’t fully match the luxury feel of a Lambo/R8, etc., this car is truly special.
I would gladly sell my old R8 for a used NSX if not for 2 reasons:
1) After the global chip shortage, a used NSX has gone up in price to the point of being equal to what I could have paid for one new in 2019.
2) The Type S grille/front bumper design instantly makes the prior one look very dated and even more unattractive. I have google search notifications set for aftermarket NSX Type S front bumper conversion. If someone makes it available, I’ll start shopping for a used NSX again.

Start a business in a big enough industry and then anything is possible.
So mike, let me ask you a question. What do you think a fair price is for a TT V6 Hybird supercar? McLaren has their 2022 Artura coming out and it's a 3.0L TT V6 plug-in hybrid for $225K base and Ferrari has it's 2022 296GTB a 2.9L V6 TT plug-in hybrid for $349K. Same tech as the NSX only with evolved electric motors and a lighter curb weight. I think then most people will realize Honda was giving a very reasonable deal on their NSX at $157K MSRP for the tech that was only available in the 918, LaFerrari and P1 prior to 2017. All those comments I have read with people whining about the NSX price will kick themselves when they have to pay the brand tax for simply have a Kiwi or a Pony on the hoods of their little V6 hybrid supercars LMAO.

First, I can't get over that perfect yellow paint! The carbon fiber appointments are exceptional, too. The exhaust note isn't that throaty, however... nobody will care! Its performance speaks for itself. Wow... just so cool! Thanks, Joe & Lori!

I think that the exhaust note is a definite minus. As tested, 192k...everything matters!

Compared to the Corvette Z06, totally overpriced. The track experience was weak ann my comment is coming as a racer who has driven at Daytona.
Absolutely love this Type-S NSX!!! Great review, as usual. Expected a bit better tech but this is not the main point of this vehicle. Also, pricing is now approaching Lambo territory. Love that yellow though. 💛

Not that I find this generation of NSX not stunning or beautiful, but I believe the original NSX for the era that it was produced, was a better head-turner and showstopper even though it didn't have remotely the power that the current NSX has! this is the most underrated supercar of time itself, it's a shame to see it go but im 99% confident they'll bring it back in a couple of years. ppl need to stop sleeping on acura.
Most definitely, people have been missing out on Acura so much lately. The new TLX Type S is so impressive. I'll keep the faith with you, that the NSX will be back.
Gen 3 is already in the works. 100% EV supercar. Trust me it's coming and it won't disappoint.

Hey Joe- Just to clarify for your viewers, these NSX Type S versions are NOT available and were already spoken for as soon as the ordering books opened. Only the larger Acura dealers received allocations and a lot of them then demanded very large markups over MSRP. There was no special consideration to those of us who had purchased 2017-2021 models in the past. Anyways, I just wanted to point that out because from watching your video they might be thinking they will be able to go out and grab one of the 300 cars but as someone that attempted to I can say that unfortunately doesn’t appear to be possible.

Super awesome car, thanks for great feedback on this amazing car. In 2016/2017 some TH-cam reviewers ruined the sale of this highly engineered reliable and future classic. Another downfall included greedy dealerships markups, which they are doing again. I'm happy FORD is doing something about these greedy dealerships that hurts everyone and robs everyone.
Saw those at the Rolex this year as well. Love these cars, but out of my price range. Would totally buy one if I could. Agree with you on the refresh of the front end; much improved. That red in the sunlight is gorgeous. By the way, thought the race was excellent this year!

I have an 18 RLX hybrid and 19 MDX Adv Hybrid. Excellent powertrain to provide more performance, handling, and acceleration; while, providing improved mpgs as a side product. Everyone complains about missing tech or design elements you can easily get on an Accord. The NSX isn't a daily driver or made for the hwy for a 12 hr road-trip. It is a track ready garage queen racecar with the flexibility of being able to drive on the open road. No one is buying a Porsche 911 GT3, M-B AMG GT3, Audi R8, or Nissan GT-R because of cooled seats, sound system w/ Carplay, dash design, or messaging seats. The NSX is all about an excellent balance of acceleration, performance, and handling for +150,000 miles reliable miles.

I personally think this car should have been the refresh in 2019 after sales tanked. The Type S should have been similar to this with 650Hp.

Great review and camera work by Lori. If I had the money, to throw away, I'd get a Corvette Z06, However, got to hand it to Acura, they've developed the NSX into a world class Supercar. I remember when this came out, I drove an RDX for Acura, for the NAIAS and they are a great organization as this vid shows.

I got the Gotham Grey, red seats and loaded too on ordered. luckily, I droved the 2020 at the dealer before I ordered the Type S, its slower than my Ferrari F8 but its still one of my high school Japanese dream car when i was senior in 1992. The F8 will have a little brother from a different daddy.

I have friends that own super cars and they say the nsx doesnt provide super cars emotion. It may look to us as nice but when you have money and you drive all the other brands like Lamborghini ferrari mclaren r8...you realise its fast but it doesnt provide that feeling. My friend with a svj said the nsx is too heavy and it feels as if the car is driving u not the other way around. Hope i answer your question.

Gotham Grey looks great but a $6,000 option and $13,000 to save 58 pounds. Not sure about that, but if your buying a new NSX type S then your not really worried about price cause your loaded in the first place

The thing that impresses me the most about this car other than the fact that’s it’s stunning and underrated, is the fact that every single color is flawless. I’m a red guy myself but I thought “oh ok never mind so that blue, now wait hold on that yellow, oh ok Gotham grey”. I mean what a beauty.

Love this thing. I took the non-Type S for a few laps at a local track and had a blast (not that I have a lot of supercar experience to compare). I can understand buyers wanting a more exotic badge for the money, but I'd be all over this if I could afford it.

If I was a wealthy man, I would absolutely snatch up a NSX Type S. It may not have the latest info tech, but when it comes to performance and appearance, this car will age like fine wine! Not to mention that you will enjoy that excellent Acura reliability along with your supercar performance. Just beautiful! Honda isn't known for their electronic cars being "reliable" lol. Good investment car for a decade or two down the road, but otherwise there are better cars on the market for that price
