I never knew a cat could be so smart. It's so cool how he doesn't seem to wander. He's content with just sitting in the chair beside him during the book signing. His high fives are so adorable! I think that kitty has an old soul.
My boyfriend bought me this book while he was in London and I loved it. We have two cats ourselves and I totally understand how they can change your life. There are so many people telling you "Oh well cats are not like dogs - they don't really love you" but that is just bullshit. Cats may be not as obvious in their affection - but they do love you if you are a good owner and take good care of them.
I recently became interested in cats, and on TH-cam here, I read all sorts of comments about how dogs are better and cats don't love you, they just want your food. So I started watching people and cats carefully. And those dog people are wrong! I was watching a little puppy on a leash today. It was whirling around, jumping around, looking up at its masters, sniffing them, wagging its tail frantically! Well, if an animal has to act like that for you to know it loves you, then sure, I can see why you might think cats don't love people. But on the other hand, do dogs, even little ones, curl up in your lap and purr? Do they rub against your jaw? do they cuddle and relax into you? No? Well, cats do!!
Cats can love however there are a greater amount of independent cats that will create this stereotype. Any animal can be loyal and love even wild animals. However it takes dedication and the right mindset to do this.
That's what I think about my cat, He died 10 months ago. He looked like Bob and walks with me Dear James, I feel with you, I know, how it is missing a dear companion. Please stay strong, in the memory of Bob
I was a train wreck until I adopted 2 beautiful kitties that were going to be taken to the shelter, which may have ended up in them being put down. They made me a responsible person and have shown me, in many ways, how to be a better person. I have 6 rescues now, all of which are nothing less than my children.

Bob is an extraordinary cat, and James is my hero! Against all odds, he sacrificed his old life, and in turn found the wonderful man he truly was all along, but it took Bob to help him find his true self! I love you both!!
Bob must be getting rather old now. I hope they get to be together for a long time. Just worried how things will be for James when this lovely cat isnt around him anymore. I know losing a cat can be so hard :/
He found bob in 2007 according to his book and a vet thought he was around 10 months at that time so we'll say he was born 2006, so he'd be 10 years and ?? months. So as far as cats go he's 50 years old, we had a moggie who died at 21-22 years old. Bob is very well looked after and with cats they can go for a long time, I'd say another 5 years of good health before he shows signs of deafness and old age. When Molly (my cat of 22 years) died, I wasn't as upset, because I was so happy she got to that age and lived a happy and healthy life. I'd encourage anyone with patience and understanding to get a cat. They are just the best friends.
Muffin I have two orange cats one I've had for 11 years I think I would have to be committed I love that cat so I could just imagine how James would feel I'm sure he's taking very good care of the cat and making sure he stays healthy

James I've been following you and Bob for several years around the time your first book came out or a little before and yet when you entered the room with Bob on your shoulders I just teared up all over again. Bob has such a smug little look on his chubbier face. Cats... they are always so wise and dignified. With Bob it's as if he understands exactly what is going on and he's up for the game. He has a job and he takes it very seriously. Bless his heart he truely is special. He goes to work with you everyday. Most cats sleep most of the day. He is truely a handsome little man.

I just read the book and I just adore Bob! Well done, James! For rescuing Bob, attending to his medical needs, and loving him! I am so pleased to find these videos. The people that knit the scarves Bob is wearing have selected the purrfect colours to coordinate with our dear ginger boy - he looks very dashing (I'd love to see the pattern). My sister gave me this wonderful book for Christmas! My favorite cat, Baby, had just died. And so I had a chance to meet Bob! And James, of course! Such a lovely story, and there were no murders or mysteries or spies or traitors or politicians in it!! I just learned there is another book about Bob!! I'll have to get it!
