Bob and James's story reminds me so much of my story of my cat, Boogie, and I. I am disabled due to a rare connective tissue disease and when I first began to become too ill to work anymore in my early 20s I became very depressed and had even gotten to a point that I didn't want to live. Then Boogie was found by my husband and he brought him home to keep me company while my husband goes to work. And it was almost immediately that Boogs knew when I wasn't feeling well and he would come and sit right beside me, like he is comforting me when I feel bad. We've had him now for nearly five years and if I had a dime for every painful night this cat has sat by my side then I'd be a millionaire.

The bond James and Bob have formed is magical, and it sickens me that people would consider it "abuse" or "unnatural". Cats are independent animals, if he didn't want to be with James then he wouldn't be there. I find it absolutely amazing at how James saved his life that day, when Bob was badly injured, and its almost like Bob recognised James' selfless act and re-payed him, by helping James put his life back together. I find it inspiring how you both helped each other through such hard times.

The care and compassion James showed to Bob when he was ill and in pain was repaid by Bob helping James get off drugs and now their love story has made James a rich man. It's very moving.

The color does NOT matter. It's the HEART INSIDE that MATTERS. Black cats are just as lovable as ginger cats, as calico cats, as grey or white cats. Cats know and sense if they are loved. Their outer coloring matters NOT one bit.
Young Raines, I agree with you. It is obvious here that James and Bob have a connection like no other. I am in the beginning of the first book where James tries to send Bob on his way, but Bob refuses to leave. I admire Bob's persistence. He and James are world famous by their uncanny relationship.
Bob, I've read all three of your books, and I have a sweet little orange Persian kitten who was found almost dead in a field. He's a miniature version of Bob, and a wonderful member of our family. Everybody loves these two and yet separately they were ignored. Back in 2007 Bob was one of many thousands of cats either dumped or abandoned like my ginger girl Goldie was, and apparently no one cared what happened to him. Meanwhile James was just one of those unfortunate "invisible" street people found in every big city and many smaller ones. I hope their story is helping lots of other invisible ones out there.
