- Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. In today’s video, I explained how to become a Nurse in the Uk even if you have an IELTS of less than 7. A lot of overseas Nurses find it challenging to meet the current NMC UK minimum scores for IELTS or OET. However, because of the shortage of Nurses in the UK and many other countries in the world, there are other ways you can use to become registered as a Nurse in the UK. One of those ways is to look for a health care assistant or senior carer’s job in the UK and while you are working, you can then continue to strive to complete your NMC registration.

Really? Just keep looking dear. Apply to as many as possible. Employers and agencies are not actively recruiting from restricted countries like Nigeria. So you have to look and apply by yourself.

I believe so as far as you have an RN liscense and if you follow the NMC process.
Hi Lynda, do you mean one can use the standard ielts academic. I learnt that only ielts ukvi is acceptable.
Hi Adeline, In the past, you can use normal IELTS to apply for jobs but you will need UKVI for visa. Recently, both are acceptable for care workers.

When the Nurse eventually gets to the UK as a Care or Nursing Assistant, does the Nurse still need to write the IELTS before he/she can proceed with the NMC registration ?
Yes, the requirement remains same. If you stay in the UK a number of years (not sure) you may be exempt.

If you write another one shortly you may combine two results. Right now, NMC accepts 6.5 in writing and 7+ in others. You can double-check on their website too. All the best.
Hello, I’m from India. I did Bsc as well as masters degree in Obstetrics and gynaecology but don’t have clinical experience. Only teaching experience I have. I scored 6.5 in academic ielts with 6 in writing, listening. 6.5 in reading, 7 in speaking. What should I do?? Need help

Hi! I am not sure of any acceptable online course from outside the UK. However international experience in a care sector for few months is something you should consider. It will help you to get admission in some schools or get a job.

Yes Riya. Consider taking IELTS for UKVI (academic) since it can be used for both NMC registration and Visa application

I have scored overall 6.0 in ielts but writing 5.5 and reading 5 so I'm eligible
It depends on the organization you apply to. Some agencies accept IELTS scores none less than 5.5. You can apply and see the feedback you will get.
