That makes me very curious. I am enthusiastic about the idea and hope that this new mobility will resonate in Germany. We are car manufacturers, but why not try something new. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your team.

That's an impressive amount of work and investment. And trust. But why have we still not seen one fly? I don't mean a slick rendering or a computer simulation or even that elegant scale flying model that's been featured before; I mean a full-sized big, heavy, massive one. With dummy [sand bag] passengers on board.
You know - the kind of practical 'proof of concept' demonstration that usually precedes so much work and investment. And trust.
One reason: Batteries for this kind of flight do not exist.🪫

As a long time investor I have nothing but best wishes for Lilium, but I want to see one flying through wind driven snow.
Al small airplanes have to comply to strict rules in terms of weather conditions and when they are allowed to fly and when not. It won't be any different with this airplane. The type of propulsion doesn't matter. Small airplanes are not allowed to fly during heavy snow events. And sometimes entire airports get closed down due to snow.
Is that an aluminium airframe made up of frames, stringers and sheet metal riveted together? Shouldn't a composite monocoque construction be lighter and stiffer?
They are probably using footage of when they built the mockup cabin that they send to conventions and airshows and not footage from their production of the real craft because they haven't even started making it and can't figure out how to make one that will work.
One completed aircraft every 2 days would be awesome. I am still waiting for 1st manned test flight video which I was expecting 12 months ago! I have become used to seeing rapid prototype production and testing, but then, Lilium isn't Space X! Thanks for the video but I would prefer to see more actual aircraft test footage than fluff about the potential future and CGI'd (or AI'd) footage. I'm not interested in the interior design, fabric types and colour scheme, or the vertiports, or the potential partners. I just want to see it perform the job you keep telling us it is supposed to do (even if it doesn't travel the distance originally anticipated).

Strange that you build a large craft before the first one ever flew with a person on board or person equivalent weight.
And why sheet metal construction instead of carbon fiber?

@@BaBaNaNaBa it's quite the reverse. Forming all those sheet metal pieces has to be very high dollar business. Composite molds is something one man companies can do for pennies. You can buy a 3D printer that can print 1m3 now for 2000$. Great for repeatable precision mold making on a budget. And you can make the fuselage in one big piece, much faster manufacture, lighter, stronger, better.

China, in their C919 construction, had to move from composite to an aluminium wing box due to unforeseen complexity, delaying their project for years. Glad Lilium isn't betting on composite. They have suppliers delivering the parts they need.
It´s cheaper and easier to built. But at least, you can easy scale the 7-Seater Structure to the coming 16-Seater. This will make certification (EASA,FAA) simpler too ... ;-)
Excuse the pun, but you are going to fly. Take it from a retired Ops manager, three decades in aerospace and defence. Keep it real, with people like Julie, they don't achieve the standard, they set it. ❤

Have you completed manned flights? I have never seen a video of a flight with a real pilot.
It doesn t hurt to do some researches. If you have followed the company they are scheduling manned test this year, around summer/autumn.
It seems manned flights should come before mass production.
I find it odd too, but that's their timeline. Prototype for manned flight license in H2 2024. I assume Lilium started as a scam slowly turned into a real venture with a real product for political reasons. I guess original investors already cashed out on IPO. But Bavaria really wants this to succeed.

Production of the first aircraft meant for manned flight is still production. This is how the aviation industry works. If you want to have your aircraft certified you build the production version to get it certified. And you cannot get it certified unless it's production level components. @@HurleyDeanSandpoint

The smaller version is the prototype. In the aviation industry it is normal practice to go through all these steps. So your comment doesn't make any sense at all.

@@insAneTunA the size matters. Look up the square cube rule in physics. It gets exponentially heavier the larger it gets and the more power it will need. The battery density stays the same. Dji would make giant drones for people if they could just scale up their quadcopters and stay up 25 minutes. A toy proves nothing and even then they need to deceptively edit those videos.

If you are telling a story of a company about which you want others to be excited, you should be making eye contact with the camera and speaking from your heart, not reading words from a screen.

The usual spin. You have missed every in service date you have promised since 2015. You don't even have the conforming prototype built. You will never be in service in 2025 as per the last promise. You even just admitted that your goal is now "as soon as possible" which is code for you 'don't know when but given up pretending it is next year'.

They couldn't even show a full flight of their toy prototype and that should be easier than a full sized one fully loaded.

They won't be able to meet the performance goals this year even without a load at all. They will show 5 second clips of it empty edited together with music like everyone else.

I don't know who wrote this script but man... "we go to industrialization" (Were you in the dark ages before?)... "we're all within 16000 square meters of each other"... ("within" uses a distance to create an area... either "we're all within 16000 square meters" or "we are all within 126 meters" or whatever the number is. You have a cool plane, you don't need to trip yourselves over by overwriting
