Although it is in a science fiction setting, sort of a cross between Cube, Cell and The Matrix, with a little Brazil thrown in, it is an excellent metaphor for neuro divergent studies and should be taught in film school. :)
Autism is a broad spectrum of learning differences where a person is wired differently than the norm and can be very good at a specific thing, such as a love for Star Trek, while not be very good at social or nonverbal cues or norms.
Shout out to Council of Geeks and the Jesse Gender channels for pointing us to this, it has just taken me a while to get around to watching it. I'm not in the Oscars so I can't help you get an academy award. If I was, there would be a lot more subs here. I am however autistic and on the side of LGBTQ plus and any human rights. Live long and prosper. :)
We are not living in a Matrix style world. It is just that neuro different people isolate or are isolated from 'the real world' and naturally would gravitate toward thinking it is so. The social media can be a good place for them to 'chill and hang out', but it can also be a land of trolls and those who might take advantage of their naive ways. Don't let the bullies do that. Besides, an actual matrix style world could not exist with our current technology. It would be more like the Borg unimatrix. Ha.
Near as I can tell from the premise of 'transgender' it means someone 'gendered' is wired differently than their 'sexuality' is and they feel they are neither male or female. They are not told to be trans. They just are. They do not force other people to conform. The 'society' forces them to conform. Seems that is the point of the film.
The busniness cult basically being Facebook and X or TH-cam is very on the nose, although it is doubtful there is anyone controlling YT in the same way an amorphous Zuckerberg or a Musk controls the narrative with those.
Thankfully, there is nobody demanding you be someone else on social media. You can block those kind of people. :) In fact, social media is the disguise, and you can dress up in anonymity, and not reveal your true...identiteaze. Ha. See what I did there. Cheers.
