- Birds up North! We go birding in North Bay, Marten River and Carden Alvar to try to find a few new birds for The 300 Bird Challenge. We've also taken a couple of smaller birding trips earlier in the summer that weren't worthy of their own videos, so we catch up with a few bird sightings from June-July.

Help :)
Everyone is after donations these days, eh?
We appreciate that times are tough, but ultimately, this channel is loss making. We only get $5-10 per video from adverts. If you'd like to help us out, donations will help us to release more content because it means we can get away more often and it will help the channel to branch out and cover more. In the future, we'd like to make more videos than we are currently able to.
If you'd like the help out, you can PayPal a donation to us at: hi@brithikesontario.com
...or you can "Buy us a coffee" here: buymeacoffee.c... where we may provide some bonus content in the future if people use it.
If you can't help financially, the biggest help you can give is by spreading the word. 'Like' our videos and share them on to your friends.
Thanks for your support!

Nice sharing
Just watched the vid. I noticed the Evening Grosbeak at the beginning, I would love to see one. In a strange way they remind me of Eurasian Hawfinches. Stepping ever closer to the 300, lets hope the Spartans are not there to meet you :) The Black Swallowtail was beautiful. Congrats.
Still a few UK birds I haven't "officially" seen and Hawfinch would be one of them. Maybe we should swap a Hawfinch for a Grosbeak 😁
Hopefully be visiting the UK again in the next year or two and can pick up a few more species.
Bearded Tit is high on my list! Norfolk here we come lol
The campfire meals looked incredible!! Loved the video per usual
Thanks, Sara takes credit for the food. It would be charcoal if it was me 😁
Thank you. I do so enjoy your videos. The birds, butterflies toads.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, Peggy. Glad you like it and we appreciate the comment 😊
Tough graft but great pickup on the Grasshopper Sparrow.
Yep. Been a bit hit and miss lately.
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always, I love all the awesome places that you visit and the beautiful birds 🐦❤️
Thank you sir! 😊
Great video as always !
Thank you!
Very excited seeing your video pop up! Congrats on adding a few more birds to your list! What a fun adventure.
Thanks! Still a few more to go but with a little bit of travel, we should make it 🤞
You guys found a lot of different species. Well done. Enjoyed the video😊. Greets Stefan
Thanks Stefan, hope you're well. Not too many more species to go now. Thanks for watching 👍
excellent vid.
Thanks Nigel and Kayleigh!
I enjoy your videos a lot. Those were some neat birds.
Thank you!
Great video you two! Greeting from another southern Ontarian birding channel!
Thank you!
Very nice and interesting video! Thank you for your work! Have a nice day!
Thanks! And thanks for watching
Very good video guys 😊 your campsite dinner looked really delicious 😊
You guys have been very busy this year!
Thanks Rick. Sara gets all the credit for the epic campfire meals. I just get to light the fire!
I'm even starting to ID the birds now 👍
Better get yourself a flight booked 🛩
My son and I (Kylo) were at Carden the day before you! LOL. We saw a Virginia Rail just north of Sedge Wren Marsh. Maybe the one you saw. And we made the rookie mistake of trying the rest of Wylie up to Alvar Rd. It wasn’t a fun experience.
Haha.. yep. We did that once, too. I had to replace a lot of suspension parts last year and I hold Carden Alvar at least partly responsible!
Say hi to Kylo from us.
Good morning to both of you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. Do you both have a particular favourite bird viewing spot in Canada 🍁 🇨🇦, or a particular favourite bird species ?
Hi Mark, I'd have to have a think about what my favourite bird is. It used to be the Black and White Warbler because they are quite funky. But I've seen lots of them this year and maybe it's time to choose something else. For Sara, the bird she would most like to see is the Great Grey Owl.
Favourite place in Canada - I can only speak for Ontario because I haven't seen most of Canada. Hard to choose one place. Depends on the season. For spring birding and migration.. maybe Rondeau Provincial Park and that general area.
Great video! I've heard good things about Carden Alvar, but I've never been. It's for sure on my list. I seem to remember a Blue Grosbeak being seen there maybe earlier this year or last. Finding Kirtland's warblers in Ontario would be so cool! I hope you have luck next year.
Carden is defo worth a visit, but more like June-July.
You might like to know that the next video we release is a little closer to your area. We spent the weekend around Rondeau, Hillman etc..
@@BritHikesOntario Looking forward to it! I'm in Leamington this weekend visiting home and hope to see some things at Point Pelee tomorrow.
Awesome as usual. I plan on taking the Kirkland tour next may. Minnesota is also a place in spring or summer I might go again just for the Golden Wing's. Unless I'm lucky enough to see it in Michigan first. I might have a picture of a Kirkland at Tawas Michigan. I'm hoping for more rare birds.
Thank you Susan.
We have a decent idea of when and where to find Kirtlands for next year. Would be pretty cool. There's only a handful of breeding pairs in the whole province.
Happy birding on your travels! We're hoping for a trip to Minnesota later this year.... but for winter birds ❄️ brrrr!
@@BritHikesOntario yes! I'll be there in Dec as well. The week of the 16th.
Have you two been to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR . Try looking for local Hong Kong 🇭🇰 birds if / when you can….
Hi Mark, afraid we haven't been to Hong Kong. A trip like that is probably out of our budget.
