  • Welcome to Robbers Cave State park and the Robbers Cave Trail, located in the San Bois Mountains in south eastern Oklahoma. The trail is about 0.9 miles long and passes a cave that is rumored to have been a favored hideout for western outlaws, possibly even the infamous Jesse James. Belle Starr, who reportedly welcomed outlaws into her home, lived in a cabin just twenty miles from this location.
The trail, while short, is rugged and rocky. It is a pretty good workout for even a experienced hiker. The hike is well worth it, however, as you are rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding San Bois Mountains and pass many interesting rock formations like the Devil's Slide.
We had a fantastic time on our family hike of Robbers Cave Trail and look forward to visiting again in the future.
We highly recommend Robbers Cave State Park and the Robbers Cave Trail as excellent examples of hiking in Oklahoma!

Thanks so much, Max! Sorry we haven't been around much lately. Trying to get back into the swing of TH-cam. Seems like I'm going to have to give these kids a history lesson first, lol.

We are talking about going again next year! So many trails that we didn't get to see. We may rent a cabin next time if we go in summer again. It was soooooo hot, lol. We spent a lot of time in Carlton Lake. Thanks so much, Steve for your help in choosing this place. It was gorgeous and completely changed my view of Oklahoma.

It's weird. At their age I could have told you everything about Jesse James🤷‍♂️ I guess I was kind of obsessed with western history though, lol. Thanks so much, Lori! Hugs from the whole Crew!

I know who Jesse James was! 🙋‍♂️ lol. That’s an interesting story about Belle Starr helping hide the fugitives. Theres another “Jesse James Cave” southeast of you guys near the town of Pamona. This place looks way more fun though. Great video as always Marty!

Sweet! You know if you close your eyes for just a moment, you can almost hear the sound of horses climbing up to the cave and a figure like that of Jesse James walking into the cave ... Oh sorry I was beginning to daydream lol ... But that's a cool location but traveling alone would be sketchy that way ... You mean caves get wet? No way! LoL Good times from the family ... Awesome Adventures brother ☺️🌲

Thanks so much, brother! I know exactly what you mean. Every time we visit a location like this I start to daydream. I think maybe we were born in the wrong century, lol! Much love from the whole Crew!

I love ❤️ Robbers Cave, I love ❤️ it so much ♥️ 💖 💗 sometimes I wonder if they did something for tourists like advertising it more like 👍 bring this name [back]to life Belle Starr (my impression of her would be in form of ASMR)... well that's all for now and Happy 🏕 ⛺️ .

I have been going there since I was a baby, 62 now, back in the 80s a guy was climbing those rocks and got almost to the top, reached for a tree root and it pulled out and he fell straight back right in front of me, it knocked him out, they had to go for help, no cell phones back then, I never found out if he was ok, but thats a long way to fall. my cousin slid down one of the rocks and hurt his foot one time, so be careful on the rocks.

Does this mean I need to call The History Buff to teach these kids about James brothers?
