    Yea, i agree, when someone says "budget" sleeping bag and then says 190usd, then i realize, "budget" is relative. Someone may say 300usd is chump change, someone else it might be a months wages.

    My wife favorited that tent on Amazon because we're gathering gear for a camping trip this year. After looking at the specs and reviews, it seemed like a solid choice, but I was still skeptical because of the price point. Your review is super helpful, and we will probably start out with that tent 😊

      @ByondTheNorm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a great tent for the price. Has kept me dry through absolute downpours and that’s always my biggest concern. I just purchased an ultralight one person tent to try but this will still be my go to whenever my wife decides to join. Glad the video was helpful!

      The tent is well worth the price. I used it in the high sierras and loved it.

    Dude! Small world!
    08:16 I just discovered your channel today and I spent a night in that very same shelter 3 days ago while soloing the SBM trail!

    10:40 I still use my SleepInGo to this day.
    I love the fact that it's so light weight.
    The trick is to not just inflate it, but to blow it up to a high pressure.

      Lol well I’m glad you like it! Definitely beats the hard ground or a foam mat that’s for sure. One reason I love backpacking is the diversity in gear and setups. What works for one may not work for another and vice versa. Thanks for the support and if you’re in the area maybe I’ll see you out there some time!

    Heyyy!! Glad to see someone else with a Kelty synthetic bag. I got the -7° C mummy bag and it stuffs nicely (barely lol) into my bottom compartment, and weighs like 3 lbs which is fine. My whole bag weighs maybe 25-30 lbs

    • @ByondTheNorm
      @ByondTheNorm  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s funny, I was just looking into upgrading and for the price/weight/warmth comparison, I honestly couldn’t find much better. I was trying to shed some weight but it looks like my Kelty is here to stay!

    I love all my budget gear. Sometimes you can get amazing deals on well known brands if you’re willing to get an older model. I do need to upgrade my sleeping pad. Thinking the Paria Outdoors Recharge XL for $100.

    Good video. In the backpacking community they say “buy once, cry once”… I also bought a bag I ended up replacing it with an osprey Exos 48. A cheap tent I replaced with a Marmot Tungsten. And I also have the LW210 for the summer 😂. Oh and is that West mountain shelter that you set your tent up in? No tents in trail shelters!! (Just teasing idc lol)

      🤦🏼‍♂️that is so embarrassing haha but in our defense, it was our very first time backpacking and my wife’s first time in a tent EVER! We had absolutely no clue what was acceptable and what wasn’t, my only focus was making sure she had a decent time so I’d be able to talk her into going again. We’ll never make that horrible mistake again! Thanks for the support! I’ll have to check out the tent you have. I’ll be definitely upgrading mine within the next season or two.

    What do you mean by synthetic down sleeping bag?

    • @ByondTheNorm
      @ByondTheNorm  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Synthetic down is just fake down material used for insulation. It tends to be cheaper but also good for people who don’t like using animal products and what not. If even had synthetic down items that were warmer than real down.

    Upgrade your misuse of the term ‘price point’ and speak proper English: just say ‘price’. Price point is a technical term and is not a synonym for price. See, if you do it right, you save the weight of all those unnecessary electrons and help keep my blood pressure down. And you’ll sound like you know what you’re talking about.
