It's been a long time since the last battle analysis, so I wanted to kick things off again with a battle I really enjoy! Let me know what you thought of the fight and keep an eye open for an upcoming poll to determine the next battle analysis video - thanks guys!
I think the fight was well matched and epic, but I think TYBW showed many completely hax/OP abilities. Obv we all agree Zero division getting off-screened w/o any bankais (other than Ichibe's) was ridiculous; but there were so many others.... And despite all those it is Urahara's bankai that borders on Gremmy's The Visionary level of OP. I think we should have seen 10x more creativity in Urahara's use of his bankai, but him being him the fight would have just ended in a ridiculous manner, so Kubo avoided that anti-climax. Based on the apparent lack of limits for restructuring his bankai can perform these are just 'a few' Urahara moves that would have been subtle ones: - Urahara could have turned the air in the sphere to be poisonous to the nerves of all but himself/Shihoin's, killing Askin instantly. - He could have possibly just 'reversed' the barrier so he could walk right out of it, and on leaving reversed it again to trap askin in it. - He could have just restructured Askin's arms/legs/organs so they basically weren't there. etc. So yeah, good fight, but again OP power gets 100% underused for false struggle.
Wow, it was great! I was glued throughout! Askin's holy form is so awesome and I hope the anime explores interesting uses of Urahara's Bankai too. Fantastic narration!
can you do a video of this wasted characters kukaku, ururu and tessai, you even do it in one video because there are not much information of them. but i would like to hear your theory of this characters
I loved Urahara's comment about always being prepared for every possibility. It reminds of when Aizen got the drop on him in the Turn Back the Pendulum arc. It's like Urahara has become obsessed with never letting that happen again. As if that betrayal and subsequent "trial" has left a permanent scar on his psyche
Yea you can still feel how chill he is by how he acts and walks around, speaks. But it's clear that's a shell now and not the core. The core is a scientist constantly working behind the scenes to get shit done, to put pieces into place and make sure they stay there. Also easy to forget that he was ambitious enough to make the Hogyoku.
In summary, the man is absolutely traumatised. I mean: loosing your home, job, thinking some of the people you love died? The high possibility of never being able to see your family again? Anyone would be traumatised. In the first Arch when he makes the portal, you can see how much pain he is in.
except that we never got anything explained about her cat transformations. like it'd be nice to know that they are indeed her zanpakuto, which she prob keeps hidden 'inside her'. lol Also I guess I was always disappointed that Tessai Tsukabishi never got a SINGLE battle or spot to shine: Hachigen did and he was only ever Kido Corps Lieutenant (and also very physically battle limited due to excess weight). Tessai on the other hand was shown multiple times in early arcs killing hollows with bare hands so good at hakudo. Being a childhood friend of Urahara, Tessai deserved a spot in the Fake Karakura town arc assisting Urahara/Yoruichi cuz he totally could have been as good or better than Urahara (and its just ANOTHER captain class ally). Nope, he was somewhere, just not in the fight.
@@juliang2776 That mistake could easily be made. He's a 100% canon character. He was even the one instrumental in giving urahara the time to work on and moving the vizards (the forbidden kido prison sentence being the reason why he fled to World of Living). But yeah, just another strong character being 100% underused to an extreme. Too bad too.
@@djdrack4681 He was on Uncle Nanny duty watching the shop and the preteen kids in their care. Somebody has to do it! Also, he's the last bastion of Karakura town should everyone else become incapacitated???
When urahara talks about always being prepared, it's honestly one of the most iconic motivations or fears in all of anime. It is really sinister because in that moment he comes across as a man both obsessed and terrified of death, or possibly something worse than death, failure. Such a chilling scene I can't wait to see it animated
It probably stemmed from Aizen getting the jump on him. Most likely it messed with his head enough that he became obsessed with being colossally over prepared with everything he does
@@darknesswave100 I've seen that!! It's definitely pretty plausible I think. Though what's interesting to me is WHY he gets to obsessed after that. Like, is it because he almost died and that terrified him? Or because he's just as arrogant as mayuri and being bested by aizen, or failing, stung his pride that much. I think with his character it could honestly be a mix. He's definitely more low key than mayuri but I do think he has a lot of arrogance and knows just how smart he is
@@tristansylvester1079 I think it's more-so the latter than actually being so terrified of death. *that was kinda Baraggan's deal tho, his subconscious at least as Hachi pointed out when he defeated him
@@darknesswave100 he used to be prepared at times already Aizen only played as a catalyst to push that trait to dangerously next level . Kisuke has the greatest potential to be a deadly villain
I offer the perspective that he was always that much of a strategist and tactician. Urahara has the highest genius level in the story, his character was naturally that way. However, the Aizen incident in TBTP simply confirmed suspicions he ready had but he may not have expected to be the fall guy. That said, he became ever more vigilant. He also knew Aizen was the mind behind it all and began his chess match with him, trying to keep critical things out of his hands, like hougyoku and even to some degree, Ichigo.
Love the fight but I will disagree with you on Kisuke's Bankai not having enough build up, because I think it perfectly fits his character. His Shikai is flashy like how Kisuke acts most of the time, but his Bankai is simple, understated, and lethal without warning, mercy, or concern for looks or honor.
Eh, I mean, let's be honest that's just a justification for it in retrospect. It makes sense, and it kinda works, but on a narrative level it's still really underwhelming and rushed. If the fight had more time to breathe there would almost certainly be more of Kisuke on the back foot while he's blind, which never feels like an impairment, and it would certainly have been more subtle in the build up and reveal. The most glaring disconnect for me, considering everything about Kisuke's character, is the fact that his bankai is seen before it's felt. For a character that is always working behind the scenes, influencing everything with an unseen hand, I would've much preferred if Askin had tried to finish him as he's releasing his bankai, maybe even beginning to fear death for the first time, and having his arm shredded as he got close, then having the physical doll forming from the shadow and blood as Askin retreats. Its not a huge change, but it would serve a couple great character beats, namely that Urahara is so dangerous even Askin should fear for his life, and Urahara's sphere of influence is always much larger than you can see.
@@skynyrdjesus that would be amazing honestly. His bankai to me just.....showed up and was there. If like you said he would have fought blind for a little bit and then askin tried to finish him off and THEN the bankai formed and askin would have been like what the fuck is that thing it would have been more impactful. Afterwards if he then fixed his eyes and he looks at askin and goes something like "You see? Nothing you do to me will work. Anything you try can be repaired without a thought crossing my mind. Face it, this fight was over before it started. There is no scenario that I havent prepared for" It would show that sadistic side he has sometimes and also tie in his habit of over preparing and thinking of every scenario
aaahh is english not your first language? saying it wasn't built up properly doesn't mean the bankai doesn't fit him lol. tommo even states ''its a great match for his character'' .. Just how he came about using it was the criticism. Implying the fight could have used a bit more back n forth drama before its release
@@ericb8241 Your point being? Or did you just want to be laughed at? Kyoraku cut off x-axis head, but he didn't die. Please try to argue that having your head cut off isn't lethal Same thing here, Askin having had to not die doesn't make the power not lethal. But thanks for the laugh.
Askin was always odd to me, all the rest of the sheutstafel are basically God's. Two pieces of the soul king and the lille who needs to be killed with a God killing weapon... Then there's Askin, just a regular quincy who's mad strong.
The dude could have beaten most of the captains and lieutenants because of his ability he even took down Ichigo and he was saved by Yoruichi and then she was taken down three times by him and he just can’t die even with his heart out he was still functioning for a bit so I’m sure Ywach recognized it and brought him along because a guy who can’t die will be able to hold back almost anyone for as long as needed I’m sure if he didn’t encounter Ichigo Ywach would have still been asleep and taken out (even for the stories sake it wouldn’t have allowed that)
@@havoc5791 I agree. He was ludicrously powerful. I was just saying that compared to pernida, Gerard and lille he was just a regular quincy who was very powerful where two of the remaining three were pieces of the soul king and the third (lille) was like a psuedo God, they needed a God killing weapon to defeat him
@@havoc5791it's a perfect combo too, a guy who is near impossible to kill and an ability that allows him to become immune to things that hit him or that he consumes.
The thing I love about this arc is that you can really see what Byakuya meant when he said that Bankai are the pinnacle of Shinigami's power. Before this arc, the most destructive Bankai were Hitsugaya's and Byakuya's ones. They were cool but you could clearly see their weakness and how there still was space to improve. Byakuya, by shinigami standard, is in his 20s, while Toshiro is still a child. Then this arc came and we witnessed what a fully developed Bankai looks like: an unstoppable force that destroy anything it touch.
p sure the whole show will be, it's been stated that the blood and gore won't be censored like earlier anime entries. also I heard rumors that it's getting the midnight times lot in Japan
Honestly the whole arc needs to be. The anime has been censored enough with some of the stuff they had to censor (understandable honestly) like with hiyori being cut in half by aizen or when Nemu's stomach imploded from Szyael entering her body. In the anime he just came out of a pink smoke cloud. The war arc is brutal as all hell. The anime hopefully will reflect that
@@darealfatman3433 Uruhara and Yoruichi are obviously smashin each other so it’s not really that inappropriate 😂 Bleach doesn’t get into relationships at all but it’s kind of insinuated that the 2 of them are kind of an item. Like Rukia and Renji, or Ichigo and Orohime
The only reason why I can't rank this as the highest battle is because of how they rushed his Bankai and didn't get into his past. I also enjoy Urahara's contrast with his quotes about having thousands of scenarios and basically saying "war is about survival and I only need one strategy to work." Askin was NOT ready for this. There were chills when I read this.
@@tobbakken2911 that was the best time for his past with yoruichi but I guess due to long battles with mayuri and kyoraku and also shorten time maybe this lead to rush ending of his fight with askin.
I like how this fight showed Kisuke's willingness to use others before stepping up to the plate himself via turning Yoruichi into a mindless beast, no doubt giving us a possible explanation for their apparent falling out after the war. Grimmjow finishing Askin was pretty out of left field given nothing was really heard of him since the fight with Opie.
@@tyronjasonhuff True. But unlike Aizen or the others he knows what he's doing can lead to some pretty dark places, at the end of CFYOW he flat out asked Yoruichi to punish or stop him should he ever cross that moral line where you can't go back. She stated that she'd twist his neck the moment he does.
I bet any amount of money that's how his soul died in the first place. Doesn't he make the comment about Ulq inflicting fatal blows in the spot where his hollow hole is? That's Ulq trying to bring everyone to his world of nothingness for lack of a more concise term. Grimmjow was probably in a weird survivalist or fight club scenario when he initially died. Completely opinion here btw [obviously]. Hollows tend to be aggressively thematic to the point of obsessive behavior cuz that's basically how they became hollows in the first place.
If they make this fight longer in the anime it will easily become my favorite bleach fight. Crazy how in 3 chapters and a rushed bankai Kisuke and Aizen still had one of the best fights in the war
Askin's motive being sheer morbid curiosity made him an even better character than he already was. Curiosity has been one of the most powerful motivations throughout human history, specifically in the scientific field, for bad and for good. Having a villain whose motivation is "I'm interested to see what happens" is actually quite rare, and a breath of fresh air.
That is the perfect bankai for him. I've only watched the anime but when you told me what his bankai is it totally made sense. He analyzes and adapts to everything in the anime. Like when he tells Yammy your attack will not hit me again. Then he goes on the whole spill about how he has analyzed and adjusted. I'm so hype for this arc
There's one thing I found interesting about Urahara's bankai is actually looking back at Mayuri's fight with Pernida, Mayuri restructures his arm in that fight. I think thats his way of trying to upstage Urahara by doing to his arm, what it takes for Urahara to use his bankai.
@@residentevil2928 it is required for you to demonstrate your bankai as far as i know to the other captains and the head captain so im sure people have seen it before just urahara never used it
Wow. It's crazy how in-tune with the characters Kubo is. The way Urahara won this battle is similar to how they won against Aizen with Urahara coming out of the blue to finish off Aizen.
*LORE:* According to Ichibē the Monk, no Zanpakuto has vastly different powers from Shikai to Bankai. This presents a problem with Benihime, Kisuke's Zanpakuto, since it is used multiple times in the series and seems to be Kido based. *Theory:* Kisuke's Zanpakuto allows him to create and modify structures. In his Shikai form, it is his Reitsu. In his Bankai, it is a territory. It is a bit of a stretch but it would be in keeping with the Lore.
That’s exactly what it is, if you look at the times he actually uses his shikai, he’s literally remodifying his reiatt and creating something new out if it. Where his bankai can restructure anything.
Shikai generates, manipulates, and reconstructs reiryoku and energy, whether it be his own, or other people's (like Yammy), Bankai reconstructs and abilities Kishi/Reishi. Physical matter/spiritual matter as opposed to the energy aspect that Quincy use
@@felipebf Tosen's Shikai had to do with sound and vibrations, then extended to sensory denial. Very loose but the connecting factor is the senses. Maybe the Bankai is a frequency that scrambles and disabled your senses besides touch? We'll never know for sure though, but we do know the rings for the Bankai come from the blade, and the blade uses vibrations and sound for it's shikai Sasakibe got one shotted by Ichigo before he even got to use any abilities so we can't say that's unrelated for certain
Even though i agree there could`ve been more build up for Urahara`s bankai and that Kubo was pressed with time, I also think its because of the nature of the characters, Kyoraku is a scene maker, likes some acting, when he was introduced to fight chad Kubo even made fun of it by having Nanao throw petals, but Urahara is the complete opposite, he doesn`t do no ceremony, doesn`t talk to much about himself or his abilities, and doesn`t really like the spotlight, so his bankai being less ceremonial and more to the point makes sense character wise
Definitely one of my favorite fights. Urahara’s Bankai is perfect and Askin was a freakin tank that went up against some monsters. I feel like the fight was short because Kisuke knew he had to put Askin down quickly, the odds were not in their favor. I hope the anime extends it a little though. I would say this is my second favorite fight in the series, behind Shunsui vs Lille. Shunsui vs Lille Kisuke and company vs Askin Shunsui and company vs Stark Renji vs Mask Nimaiya vs The Sternritter (yeah I know it ended up being pretty meaningless but he was just so cool 😓)
for me its all mayuri fights and kenpachi fights.... Kenpachi vs tosen+kommura in bankai lol Or mayuri '' my, my,.....there's too much a chattin. BAN KAI'' totally smiling + Trolling Zyal who was totally incredulous as his release state organ power wasn’t working .......I remember literally cheering and screaming at kenpachi saves ichigo against noitora in hueco mundo. That reveal was almost like finding out in soul society arc that aizen is alive,,,,,,,,, it was so shocking. I was totally thinking how is ichigo gonna get outta of this one,,,,,,,,,then ,,,'''hhhoooowws it goiINNNNGG ICHIGO????????"" i just went buck outta my seat punching the air. ‘’Kenpachi is here and gonna fight a stronger character then grimjow?”” . Then next panel was revealed that mayuri and B YAK came to scrape tj up too. So cool to see non main character fights that have lots of substance . Hard to get that as japanese fans hate non main character focused arcs. Thats why one piece can't have more then 6 chapters without strawhats. Magi was totally destroyed sales wise because of long (but great) non main character arc
Imagine the absolute hatred that Mayuri would feel when he learns what Kisuke's bankai can do. The man has to spend countless hours surgically modifying himself and his bankai in various painful ways, and then here's Kisuke who just has to think about it and he's bodying people who are beyand bankai level like it's nothing. The candy shop owner couldn't just NOT one up the mad scientist.
honestly not sure he would. Mayuri is a sadist. He enjoys the surgery and experiments he does on his Zanpakuto. If anything he'd probably just shrug and be like "Well where's the fun in that?"
I know it doesn't show the stitching on Askin, but what if when Urahara split his arm, he was restructuring his Deathdealing ability. I mean, there has to be a reason why Urahara did it, his ability doesn't simply just attack someone, it's modifying them in some way.
I think Kubo got a lot of inspiration for this arc from Fullmetal Alchemist. Askin's motivations are basically the same as Solf J. Kimblee, and the concept of Yhwach doling out aspects/powers to his closest underlings is the same as Father with the Homunculi
I dug the whole thing a lot but I was disappointed in what was done with Yoruichi, that business with Urahara turning her feral (against her will?) was kinda weird and I wanted to see her bankai and I felt they could switch places with Grimmjow in the narrative It would've been cool to see Yoruichi and Grimmjow work together with the whole feline motif
Yeah I felt like yoruichi was purely there for fanservice. Was disappointed in that. Tybw didn't showcase her story or abilities in a way that answers any of the many questions people have about her.
A year late, but i wanna point out that its kind of interesting that Kisuke did that. Basically lobotomize her so shed be more powerful. Remember Wonderweiss and Aizen? Its different yet about the same, but lets be honest. If you read the manga, youll also know that Kubo had the chapter title for that fight... on Yoruichis ass. Legend.
So my one thing I would add to Kisuke’s Bankai would to extend some of its shikai’s powers to the Giant Doll. Like it would be awesome if it could erect a Giant Crimson Shield or shoot some Kind of Crimson Blast, and Kisuke can just manually improve those techniques as he needs to, if in fact they want to make this fight longer in the anime.
One thing I will say is that this dude understands the TH-cam algorithm and the watch time abs pacing of his words dragging 2 chapters into a watchful 30 minutes we already knew lol good show
I've rewatched the turn back the pendulum arc, and in the scene where kisuke charges at aizen and slashes off his lieutenant patch. Couldn't he have just picked that patch up and shown in to central 46 as proof that aizen was in fact in the woods that night?
Thing is, it would also have alerted Aizen and I'm sure he already was planning on something about that patch. Remember how he managed to fool everyone into thinking he was somewhere else thanks to Kyouka Suigetsu? Well, I think he could easily fool them into thinking the "patch" was actually something else entirely. I don't think that Urahara could have done anything to save himself here, he was woefully unprepared for the "battle" whereas Aizen knew exactly what he was doing and he had the perfect tool for it with his Shikai
Well as short as this fight was it was great nonetheless. Askin was no doubt my favorite Sternritter as soon as he showed up. Just his presence and his attitude for me make him really likeable. For some reason he reminds me a bit of Stark being the laid back and sort of grounded one. Hopefully when the anime comes back they extend the fight a bit. I'm sure Kubo would want that since he didnt get to do all he wanted
Regardless of how short it is, I still think this is one of the best fights in the entire series. I really do hope the anime would expand this fight. I really hope they'd ask Kubo how he wants this fight to play out originally and apply it to the anime.
I think it's cool that, in a way, Urahara's Bankai removes the necessity of Prep time. Urahara can almost just make shit up on the fly without having to have pre-planned and actually worked on something for a significant amount of time. It's like giving Batman time manipulation. Also an awesome detail I just noticed. The fingers that Kisuke restructures with the stitches are the fingers that are the most responsible for grip strength and power in human anatomy. About Urahara mentioning Rukia, I think it's nice, I see Urahara mentioning Ichigo and Rukia is almost a honor or respect thing. Bleach is literally the story of Urahara and Aizen simultaneously manipulating Ichigo and Rukia's lives. Urahara leaving things to them is almost like a passing of the torch. He has spent all of Bleach pushing them in the direction they had to go for the world to have a chance of survival, but now he's not going to be there to give them the extra nudges and help, and he's kind of praying that he had prepared them enough for what the future would hold for them. even though it did feel weird since Rukia doesn't get to do anything after this, she's not even with Renji and Ichigo when they go after Juha at the end. Don't know why. Maybe Kubo just didn't have time for her to do anything there so he just let her stay out of it rather than make her be there and not do anything?
Ishinn, Urahara, and Aizen are all in a league of their own. Imagine if Ishinn didn't link his soul to Ichigo's mother, how unstoppable Ishinn would be.
In the end it shows how similar Urahara and Mayuri are when sh!t gets real. Modification of own body to being prepared and planning contingency to every events that may happen in a fight. No wonder Mayuri was Urahara's prodigy.
I always thought that both Kisuke and Grimmjow were saved and then healed by Nel. Child Nel can heal people with her spit so I imagine that adult Nel has even greater healing powers.
I love your analyses. When it comes to TYBW, can we not belabour the point on the rushed nature of the final arc? It's a tragedy but it's exhausting when you keep bringing it up.
With this fight, I honestly expected, given the stitching being behind asken. That at some point kisuke would have allowed his hand to be cut off to rip askens heart out from behind himself. Like you were saying, asken was playing checkers while Kisuke was playing 4D chess. Lol
9:10 That is a given, based on Urahara's combat training with Ichigo and Ichigo's first match with Kenpachi. Reiatsu quality and quantity are based on will, on self confidence and bravery, on sheer conviction. Askin is confident in his guile and intelligence, his arrogance and self assurance is not on full display via boasts, its more understated but it is there.
So here's my question and really a great hypithetical topic for a video, imo. Askin was CHOSEN to be in the Big 4 at the end because I'm guessing Gremmy was dead so he got chosen? Even he seemed surprised at the end he was summoned there. Unlike the other three who clearly had titles and parts of the Soul King (which is why I assume Gremmy was the 4th *book spoilers*) So couldn't ANY of the Sternritters have been chosen? Their powers are all essentially one gigantic pool of power. Juha seems to give them a fragment of his own power and then takes it back with all the growth it had achieved in whoever it was gifted to. So essentially the fewer quincy he spread his power amongst the stronger they get. Askin was the last non-Soul King Sternritter aside from Hasch whom Nazi Jesus hadn't repo'd their powers. Imagine an As Nodt in that position. Or a Mask. Or Giselle. I always wondered what the breadth of their power would have been in that same position. Askin's power as a tool for Ywach to use seemed far more beneficial to him so I imagine he was chosen for that.
Askin was stronger than the other Sternritter at a 'base' level, and thus he was chosen. Despite him not seeming to be that good physically, keep in mind he was the only one that was able to react to Nimaya physically, and then his ability is extremely haxed on top of that. Also, when Gremmy was stating that he was the strongest, that was before the Quincy Elites were at full power. (When Yhwach gave them power, it was stated he actually restored them to full power rather than amped them). So it's possible or even very likely that the 4 of them were stronger. You could make a case for Jugram and Uryu too
@@jocoolshow I mean yea for the ones that were all part of the Soul King they were definitely stronger overall I think. Every Sternritter probably had their own base level of power beyond Ywach's gift. We don't know for a fact why Askin was chosen, though. He wasn't necessarily the strongest. He could have just been there because that power amped up was very hard to deal with. I'm sure Gremmy being what he was makes him far stronger than Askin overall, especially if he was given the power like the rest of the Royal Guard. (In my head they Guars were given the power of the other Quincy that Ywach had taken the power from right then. There is essentially a pool of power that Ywach is and he can disperse it how he sees fit. Beyond that the Soul King body parts were probably innately stronger than all the others.)
You know what I really love about your videos is that while you're clearly head over heels for this series, you don't hesitate to call out or criticize the parts of the writing and storytelling that you find to be weak or lackluster.
I love how kubo gave many things German words and thereby content creators hard time, granting me a great chuckle. Keep it going bro, you might pronounce it right someday xD
Only Lille, Bazz and Haschwalth are confirmed to be 1,000 years old. But yeah, would have liked to have that explained. Quincies don't have spiritual energy the way Soul Reapers do. So...how? Does Yhwach share the life-force of those he "cleanses" with Auswählen? I know he can do that, but does he outside of wartime necessity?
I loved Askin. Ever since he just left the twelfth division feeling like the fight would be too much, I've wanted to see more. That said I think structure wise the fight is fine, but needed more panels expanding on the actions of the characters. For example, more applications of Urahara's bankai.
Something people forget is that Kubo was sick writing a bit of the script while from his hosiptal bed and it was halfway through the arc they dropped hey you have to wrap this up. your're not getting the two three years you were promised. I hope when it comes to the Anime Kub gets to write the story he wanted too from the start.
Had to pause to write this because i love your videos so much 😅😁 i am SO glad its a bit more graphic, its one of the things that really killed ot for me during some of the better fights, it underwhelmed them, ichigo v ulquiorra especially. Although ofcourse kts now technically 'graphic content', it adds so much more depth the every scene. Kubo really pulled off the tybw arc woth this, even though its source was rushed, it would have been so much less impactful if he'd done the graohic scenes like the arrancar arc
Would you like a few chapters from Kubo on Yoroichi and Urahara, similarly to the 10 chapters we got after the Naruto series ended? I was going to type that maybe the anime could do some sort of filler arc(we all know that plagues anime) on the backstory with input from Kubo, but I don't think that would do it justice
I think the best way is just for every rushed area, plot hole or lack of backstory and fighting should have some sort of filler of what kubo wanted to do with the manga so that way his vision of what he wanted could be fulfilled. It would make TYBWA amazing
Kisuke is my favorite character and i know people are split on if they like his Bankai or not but i actually really like the idea and feel that it fits him well.
This is one of my Top Favorite Fights in TYBW Arc (next to Shunsui Vs Lille, Komamura Vs. Bambietta, and Zaraki Vs Unohana) - mainly thanks to the fact that we get to know Urahara's slightly darker alter ego, when he activates his Bankai and despite his hurt eyes he does not hesitate to attack Askin (who is not prepared for it at all) - I always felt his true nature was a bit dark and twisted (maybe not as much as Mayuri's, but still...) however, he hides it well.
I love how CFYOW shows the result of the gift ball, definitely one of my favorite fights. I wish Grimmjow got to do more in the final arc but this was cool too.
Maybe I need to read it again, but I find it kind of infuriating that we don't know if Kisuke actually dies after his battle with Askin. There's a very similar outcome after Kyoraku's final battle. He just collapses after some closing words. However, in Kyoraku's case, we find that he survives in the final chapters. While there is a couple pages of Nel mounting a rescue for Urahara and Yoruichi, we don't know if anyone is actually still alive for her to rescue. Maybe I'll just choose to believe that Urahara and Yoruichi are still alive.
You cannot convince me that this wasn't a JoJo battle transplanted to Bleach and that Askin wasn't a minor JoJo villain. It's pretty great. That being said, this battle was one of the worst victims of the rushed ending of the TYBW arc, and I hope beyond hope the anime actually shows everyone escaping the Gift Ball Deluxe at least.
@@MrGksarathy oh yeah that's true. Man I love Diego. I love blue and I love Dinosaurs, and personally think that Diego is much better character than Dio
Interesting take at the end with Askin's last words. I've read it several times, but it always came off as Askin being sarcastic. I did read it through SoulMadness (RIP) though. Maybe the soundtrack mislead my interpretation
Im kinda disappointed we never got to see the aftermath of that fight. Itd be fun to see Yoruichi's response to urahara forcing the change. Shes always his ride or die but she'd still be annoyed and itd be funnt
Askin's node aesthetic is most definitely supposed to represent nodes on a circuit board with the straight lines connecting them being wires. This is really a great choice considering Askin is supposed to be some genius type character with his ability revolving around calculating the exact fatal level of anything and there's the scene where he shows up at Mayuri's lab and calculates the amount of time and effort it would take to defeat everyone there, eventually deciding against it. In my head canon, he's the one who designed the Quincy technology such as the bankai capture devices.
you forgot about yoruichis brother also fighting askin. Askin KOed yoruichi, grimmjow, yoruichis brother and had to have the help of neliel to defeat him in the end.. askin the real MVP
It's been a long time since the last battle analysis, so I wanted to kick things off again with a battle I really enjoy! Let me know what you thought of the fight and keep an eye open for an upcoming poll to determine the next battle analysis video - thanks guys!
decent fight. Needs more bankai
Based on the apparent lack of limits for restructuring his bankai can perform these are just 'a few' Urahara moves that would have been subtle ones:
- Urahara could have turned the air in the sphere to be poisonous to the nerves of all but himself/Shihoin's, killing Askin instantly.
Lol. I had no idea this was a new video! I just binge your stuff all the time hahahaha
can you do a video of this wasted characters kukaku, ururu and tessai, you even do it in one video because there are not much information of them. but i would like to hear your theory of this characters
This. This is exactly what it is.
In summary, the man is absolutely traumatised.
I mean: loosing your home, job, thinking some of the people you love died? The high possibility of never being able to see your family again?
Anyone would be traumatised.
In the first Arch when he makes the portal, you can see how much pain he is in.
We would have liked yoruichi vs candice
epic yet humorfilled cat fight
Aizen and Uruhara are both in a their own league
I really appreciated the involvement of Yoruichi, the God of Thunder Thighs
except that we never got anything explained about her cat transformations. like it'd be nice to know that they are indeed her zanpakuto, which she prob keeps hidden 'inside her'. lol
Also I guess I was always disappointed that Tessai Tsukabishi never got a SINGLE battle or spot to shine: Hachigen did and he was only ever Kido Corps Lieutenant (and also very physically battle limited due to excess weight).
Amen
@@djdrack4681 I always thought he was like a filler character lol
There is no scenario that I havent prepared for"
It would show that sadistic side he has sometimes and also tie in his habit of over preparing and thinking of every scenario
aaahh is english not your first language? saying it wasn't built up properly doesn't mean the bankai doesn't fit him lol. tommo even states ''its a great match for his character'' .. Just how he came about using it was the criticism. Implying the fight could have used a bit more back n forth drama before its release
Lethal? It did nothing lethal lol. Didn’t even hurt askin
Well when you think about it everyone was in the royal guard but askin he just happened to make it in time not to be left in the sereitei
Askin got in his position by being incredibly hard to kill I think.
And the schutzstaffel still made them the underdogs.
Benihime is also the opposite of Ashisogi Jizo in a way. Mayuri restructures his bankai, while Urahara's bankai restructures him
And everything else in the world
I like that Kisuke disparaged Askin’s opinion so much that he praises Mayuri by comparison.
Very true, get your own hands dirty. Sitting back and watch is cowardly.
The anime battle with Yoruichi is going to have to be TV-MA...
p sure the whole show will be, it's been stated that the blood and gore won't be censored like earlier anime entries. also I heard rumors that it's getting the midnight times lot in Japan

Took it as somewhat metaphor of his entire character for the manga itself.
Hes the same thing as Aizen but patient.
I still would have preferred Chad get that kill. That kind of feat seems almost custom made for Chad and his skillset. 🤜💥

There's one thing I found interesting about Urahara's bankai is actually looking back at Mayuri's fight with Pernida, Mayuri restructures his arm in that fight. I think thats his way of trying to upstage Urahara by doing to his arm, what it takes for Urahara to use his bankai.
Nobody knows kiske's bankai. Even mayuri
Tousen shikai and bankai doesn't relate very well too... The same could be said for Sasakibe.
@@felipebf Tosen's Shikai had to do with sound and vibrations, then extended to sensory denial. Very loose but the connecting factor is the senses. Maybe the Bankai is a frequency that scrambles and disabled your senses besides touch? We'll never know for sure though, but we do know the rings for the Bankai come from the blade, and the blade uses vibrations and sound for it's shikai
Sasakibe got one shotted by Ichigo before he even got to use any abilities so we can't say that's unrelated for certain
Minazuki begs to differ
ooh ive been eagerly waiting to see you talk about this fight this is one of my favorite fights in the final half of the tybw
Such a good feeling finding a Chanel that makes great content with an already extensive library to go back and watch
Shunsui vs Lille
Kisuke and company vs Askin
Shunsui and company vs Stark
Renji vs Mask
Nimaiya vs The Sternritter (yeah I know it ended up being pretty meaningless but he was just so cool 😓)
for me its all mayuri fights and kenpachi fights.... That reveal was almost like finding out in soul society arc that aizen is alive,,,,,,,,,
it was so shocking. I was totally thinking how is ichigo gonna get outta of this one,,,,,,,,,then ,,,'''hhhoooowws it goiINNNNGG ICHIGO????????"" i just went buck outta my seat punching the air. ‘’Kenpachi is here and gonna fight a stronger character then grimjow?””
And the solders x
I actually really liked the understated nature of the bankai reveal! I thought it fit his character just as perfectly as the ability itself
I would love to see a Shinji character analysis
Askin is the type of enemy to say: “That’s a nice argument but I will still kill you” when confronted about his beliefs.
Great job! You added a lot helpful insight into this moment.
👍
I’m a huge fan of Bleach and really appreciate your analysis of the characters and their motivations. I hope you continue to give such insights.
I dug the whole thing a lot but I was disappointed in what was done with Yoruichi, that business with Urahara turning her feral (against her will?) was kinda weird and I wanted to see her bankai and I felt they could switch places with Grimmjow in the narrative
It would've been cool to see Yoruichi and Grimmjow work together with the whole feline motif
Ishin doesn't belong on that list. Dude is a beast but definitely in a league with other people.
This dude snuck in ishinn🤣🤣🤣

CONGRATS ON THE 60K
Tris is what I am your fan, amazing job
Awesome insight! One of the best battles! Have you done Mayuri vs Pernida? That was an epic battle of countless contingent counter strikes as well.
Been waiting for this for a long time
Let’s go this is what I haven’t been askin for
Cant wait for this fight to be animated
So here's my question and really a great hypithetical topic for a video, imo.
Askin was CHOSEN to be in the Big 4 at the end because I'm guessing Gremmy was dead so he got chosen? Even he seemed surprised at the end he was summoned there. Unlike the other three who clearly had titles and parts of the Soul King (which is why I assume Gremmy was the 4th *book spoilers*)
So couldn't ANY of the Sternritters have been chosen?
Keep it going bro, you might pronounce it right someday xD
this was my favorite SS fight, with my fave SS...it wasnt as long as the other ones sadly. Id have loved to see Tessai and the shop kids get involved.
I had always thought Asken was Ywach's sense of wonder personified. Him wanting to see the change but with a literal cognitive dissonance from Ywach
I hope when the anime comes back they extend ALL of the battles and we get all the back stories and bankis that we should have got in the manga
MR TOMMO YOU LEGEND I DIDNT KNOW YOU LIKED GEARS OF WAR!
My favourite channel for bleach content
These Quincy's are thousands year old human beings we should discuss this point, as how could this be ?
magic plus ywachs blood keeps them "immortal"
Only Lille, Bazz and Haschwalth are confirmed to be 1,000 years old.
But yeah, would have liked to have that explained. Quincies don't have spiritual energy the way Soul Reapers do. So...how? Does Yhwach share the life-force of those he "cleanses" with Auswählen? I know he can do that, but does he outside of wartime necessity?
Well the one who created them is literally a god so it’s not that far fetched
No one:
Literally no one:
Mr. Tommo : my absolute favorite character!
Imagine if Kisuke was a villain....
Bleach verse would be finished seeing how shrewd, intelligent and manipulative he is, not even mentionning his large arsenal of POWER
he was originally planned by Kubo
If kisuke and aizen teamed up, the brains and trickery would be crazy
He was originally going to be the final villain
Me when Grimmjow kills Askin: Fatality
(reference to mortal kombat)
I love how Urahara fought someone who looks like a bootleg Aizen
I feel the anime will expand on these fights!! Can’t wait for when anime does come back!!
Favorite fight in the entire series.
You could do a video on how you think Nel was able to save Urahara and Yoruichi and Yushiro and Grimmjow
The way Urahara talks about preparing for every possibility is basically like the Almighty ability, except he's just really smart.
I do like that once he uses bankai, the fights over.
Like urahara will fight long game with Shikai but cant let ppl know his bankai
Maybe I need to read it again, but I find it kind of infuriating that we don't know if Kisuke actually dies after his battle with Askin. There's a very similar outcome after Kyoraku's final battle. He just collapses after some closing words. However, in Kyoraku's case, we find that he survives in the final chapters. While there is a couple pages of Nel mounting a rescue for Urahara and Yoruichi, we don't know if anyone is actually still alive for her to rescue. Maybe I'll just choose to believe that Urahara and Yoruichi are still alive.
They are alive.
Please do a video on top 10 most powerful/best kido users in bleach. I'm sure it will be an interesting video to see🙌
Grimmjow is so Bad Azz! And his drip in this arc is top tier.
Askin felt like the Vanilla Ice when it came to threat level
@@IdkIdk-vm4dm I see the comparison, but I'd compare him more to Diego Brando.
@@MrGksarathy oh yeah that's true. Man I love Diego. I love blue and I love Dinosaurs, and personally think that Diego is much better character than Dio
@@IdkIdk-vm4dm They have different charms.
@@MrGksarathy true, Dio is the dude who pulls se trolling tomfoolery. Will never forget how he do Polnareff on those steps
The animators have done a phenomenal job on these bankais
Interesting take at the end with Askin's last words. I've read it several times, but it always came off as Askin being sarcastic. I did read it through SoulMadness (RIP) though. Maybe the soundtrack mislead my interpretation
Im kinda disappointed we never got to see the aftermath of that fight. Itd be fun to see Yoruichi's response to urahara forcing the change. Shes always his ride or die but she'd still be annoyed and itd be funnt
We do in a cfyow the light novel
Askin's node aesthetic is most definitely supposed to represent nodes on a circuit board with the straight lines connecting them being wires. This is really a great choice considering Askin is supposed to be some genius type character with his ability revolving around calculating the exact fatal level of anything and there's the scene where he shows up at Mayuri's lab and calculates the amount of time and effort it would take to defeat everyone there, eventually deciding against it. In my head canon, he's the one who designed the Quincy technology such as the bankai capture devices.
I'm soooooooo looking forward to see this animated
I always called askin back then as "that Quincy who does the joestar secret technique "
I hope this and many other fights in the arc gets extended in the anime plz
Give uryu a fight
I really would’ve loved to see Askin vs Kyoraku just because of their dynamic.
you forgot about yoruichis brother also fighting askin. Askin KOed yoruichi, grimmjow, yoruichis brother and had to have the help of neliel to defeat him in the end.. askin the real MVP
I absolutely love this fight it was one of my favorites
