very interesting, never knew it could be an evaporite, I have Lapis Lazuli collected from Burma, Lake Baikal/ trans siberia, Badahkshan, Italy and Chile but never knew it was on Baffin.

Most lapis lazuli are metamorphosed evaporites. The mineral contains a lot of sodium and sulphur - which, in marble sequences, tend to be abundant in evaporites.

What an exceptional find, that large spinel xl, and what a place to do some research. I bet there are some amazing mineralized areas up there that have yet to be discovered. Thx for sharing!

It was an amazing trip! There's a lot of potential but it is VERY expensive to do work up there.

Geology of Gems & Minerals . I can only imagine. Glad you shared, a select few, like yourself would get to see or experience remote areas like that!!

@@GeologyofGemsMinerals there is always the north of Quebec with similar goelogy but it is more rich in gold deposit.

I don't sell except when I clear out parts of my collection, but I did that recently and am probably good for a few years.

In regards to your response before you removed the video on "Why is there SAPPHIRE in the Canadian Arctic?", honestly, I truly don't understand why you jumped the gun and assumed that I would intend to commit an illegal collect. I simply shared your enthusiasm and you go all mad and remove the video right after. What it looked like is, that you saw a French name, and you went all berserk at the thought that it might profit a French Canadian. Your credibility as a scientist is tainted by your obvious bias. I lived eight years in BC so I know I'm not imagining things about how you reacted.
Baffin Island is extremely large and filled with prospecting opportunities. My upcoming prospecting trips to the region for summer 2023 and 2024, including to the Kimmirut area, will be perfectly legal and so will be my Prospecting license. I will conduct my search on only my registered units with the Nunavut Map Selection. Everything will be legal and respectful of the other claims and to the Nunavut bylaws. I also hope to find more deposits at different locations.
Following the discovery of Rubies in Greenland, and way before I found out about the Kimmirut sapphire discovery of 2002, I was following clues on a personal theory that rubies and sapphires deposits in the Arctic Cordillera could be spread from Greenland, Quebec, Labrador to the Nunavut Islands in a wide mineral belt in the region. My theory was that the shift of continents separated the deposits like it did in the Pan-African belt from Sri Lanka, Myanmar into Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania. (For the most part.) When I recently found out about the Kimmirut deposits, it more or less confirmed my theory. Nothing more. Sharing my enthusiasm with you was obviously an error of judgement on your capability to openly interact on a scientific level.
FYI, I don't claim to be a scientist myself. My area of expertise is not in this field right now. I'm currently learning to become a gem cutter and soon to be a Geology Bachelor student. But this does not make how you reacted any more acceptable.

I just pointed out that the sites are on active claims thus prospecting there is not permitted, since it seemed you may have had the intention to visit the sites on the map. I don't believe the video indicated the current claim status so I wanted it to be clear that collecting is not currently allowed there and there's also an RCMP detachment nearby, so I don't want my video to lead to someone unknowingly breaking the law. I need to update the video with new information. Je suis Canadien français donc tu devras trouver une autre raison ;) Bonne chance avec la prospection. By the way, there is ruby potential in Labrador. There are new studies in progress now.

@@GeologyofGemsMinerals Okay, I may have jumped the gun myself. Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate the tip about the rubies in Labrador.
Je ne cherchais pas à nous victimiser car j'y avais vu un vieux film qui revenait tourner en boucle pour l'avoir vécu souvent. Mais je suis heureux que ce n'était pas le cas.
Your videos are well rounded and very educating. I will continue watching your videos.
