The information was very interesting and useful. I wanted to know more about the type of hydrothermal that crystallizes Peridot again. I appreciate your help
Very nice. There are also olivine deposits on NC around the sylva area in the mountains I've been to the mine there and I have around 20 thinsections from a study conducted there
I went to one (in NC) during my undergrad geology degree field course. Didn't see any gem material. There was a lot of asbestos in fractures cutting the rock.
We found small pieces near there too but it's been 20 years ago one piece less than 1 carat rest real small, At Buck creek, NC We found tiny pieces with garnets unless green garnets.
There are nice Peridot crystals found at Cheviot Hills North Queensland Australia, I personally have found good facet quality gems up to 40cts without digging or breaking rocks. It is an old lava plain. Also aren't isn't good quality Peridot found in Iceland and Greenland? I seem to remember that in the recent volcanic eruptions in Hawaii people had volcanic bombs thrown into their yards that were full of very small peridot. If there were small ones then it seems reasonable to think that there must be some large ones waiting to be found?

Thanks for showing the Peridot bearing rocks - very useful information. So far I have picked up only small pieces in the black sand.

I may know the one you are speaking of. The one at corundum knob matches what you are describing
Sounds familiar but my memory is hazy (it was 5 years ago).

Yes beck creek is a great place especially for the corundum
